Surprise at the top of Parrett Mountain. Our friends, who are members of the Rallison Wine Club, invited us to join them at the winery for a tasting. Wow, did we discover a gem. While most of Oregon’s Pinot Noir is located along the Pacific Highway in the Willamette Valley, this winery is near the top of Parrett Mountain on Parrett Mountain Road. It’s a very small operation with the goal of quality over quantity. They grow fruit on the property and also source fruit from Barron-Wahl down the hill and from HorseLeap above the Tualatin River. Their wines range from $ 27.00 to $ 45.00. If you join their wine club you get a 30% discount on their wines — a great deal. The winery also produces some very good Riesling and several sparkling wines but here’s the big tip: Get some Pinot from their Laree Vineyard, it’s just amazing. It seems a contradiction of terms to say a Pinot is a «big wine» but the Laree Pinot is big with lush fruit and a finish more like a good cabernet. One final note; the winery itself is small but spotless. Tastings are by appointment except during wine club events. Go find some Rallison right now. You won’t be disappointed, just hooked like we are.

Wonderful wine, and beautiful family owned vineyard! We appreciate not only their commitment to their craft, but also the commitment they have to their community at large! Recently Rallison Cellars donated a couple bottles and a tasting to support the Sherwood Cash Mob movement — it was used as a door prize at a recent Cash Mob at a locally owned restaurant in Sherwood. The response from the public was awesome, so many people had so many nice things to say about Rallison Cellars. Not only that, we personally have enjoyed their wine on several occasions and look forward to becoming new wine club members! Amber Gardner
