We had Mahai, owner of Renaissance Granite, fabricate and install a black granite counter top and a marble top on the island in our kitchen in 2008, in the last few yrs. we have experienced a progressive deterioration of the top layer of the material used to fill the seam, about 10 inches long and maybe 1÷32− 1/16″ deep, in the black granite top. When we called to request a repair and got no answer I left multiple messages and experienced unreturned calls, after leaving several messages I finally was able to get a human response when I called. We discussed the issue and it was agreed due to his schedule he would fit the repair into work in the area we live in the next few weeks, after not hearing anything from them for 2 – 3 weeks I again called, left messages to no avail, no response or call back. I then made a call from my cell phone,(different number) and left a message indicating I was interested in a new granite counter top, sure enough I received a call back within an hour or so. Once I told her what I was calling about we discussed when a mutually acceptable time the repair could be done, then I was informed it would be a $ 190 service call, this without even seeing the issue 1st hand or the extent of the problem. I was so offended by the way the message and the method was delivered I simply told her I would look elsewhere for help and hung up. Since then I have written with the hope we could work something out and get the work done for a reasonable cost, I received the following instead,(my comments are in parentheses): «Mr. Dale, I’m not quite sure how to answer your email the correct way but I’m going to try. First of all, the woman you spoke with is not a receptionist, her name is Audra and she is my wife. Hanging up on her was very rude in my opinion, but that’s not the only thing that bothers me. I think it was very rude to call us after 6 years and suggest we fix something at our expense that actually has to do with normal wear and tear. (I Never asked for it to be at their expense) Not trying to make any excuses for the seam problem that you have in any way, but here are some facts: There is a reason the seam came apart and it always has to do with movement below it. Granite does not contract and expand enough on it’s own to cause a seam to come apart. It is always movement in the cabinet below or the floor of the house, basically just plain settling occurring under the stone. (If it was „settling“ the deterioration would be a crack the depth of the seam not a surface deterioration of the filler)
Your taking quotes and words from our website and trying to use it against us(I quoted his advertisement of CUSTOMERSERVICE, UNPARALLELEDQUALITY and TRUST) is not very nice of you Mr. Dale. Look around your house at all the stone work we have done for you. That is what all that $$$ money bought you. It is of the highest granite fabrication quality and standards the industry has to offer. Your job was fabricated on time, flawless(flawless???) and with the best customer service we can possibly offer. Again, your issue has nothing to do with fabrication quality it has to do with what I have mentioned above, settling issues.(impossible to make this determination without seeing 1st hand) Now, industry standards for warranties are 1 and ½ years. I was just simply trying to save you some money by doing your repair at the same time as another job in the area. Otherwise you were looking at $ 350.00 service call. To answer your question on why I was going to charge you a fee,(I never asked for a explanation, I presumed it would have a cost) that is because it takes time, money and materials to send our installer to your place for the better part of a day and do a repair. We were further trying to accommodate your needs by „fitting you in while we were in the area“ as our schedule has continuously been booked three months out. We were hoping our attempt to fit you in that way would be a quicker alternative to making you wait 3 months, possibly longer. It is a coincidence not a conspiracy(conspiracy???) that we hadn’t had any work in your general area prior to your final conversation with Audra. So, with all this said, I know I have not done you wrong in any way. I did try to offer you our services to correct YOUR issue but you so rudely said NO by telling us that you will have someone else fix it, adding that you would never refer us again for asking you for a fee in exchange for repair, and finally hanging up on us. At this point I am gong to wish you good luck. I am sorry you think that we have wronged you but there is nothing else I can do for you.» I’ll conclude here, you can make your own judgement from here and decide if Renaissance Granite is someone you wish to do business with. Based on 40+ years of experience in the high end residential and commercial construction industry dealing with sub and prime contractors I certainly would not advise it. Thank You.

I worked with these guys on a fairly large re-model that involved a really big kitchen with a oversized bullnose, Theater, Bathrooms, Fireplace fascia and even a custom countertop for a Reptile cabinet we have. Miha and crew were not only timely in their work but true craftsman. The work exceeded my expectation and that is not something easy to do. I would use them again in a second for any future projects. We love our outdoor BBQ and Island granite counter tops! They look amazing! Renaissance was fast, and professional! They gave an accurate estimate, and didn’t try and charge more like some places do. They cut and installed the granite and our sink very quickly. We are very happy we choose Renaissance!
