Family campout was absolutely horrendous. Would not ever return here and would highly suggest that if you and your family have a group of people to never come here. Camp hosts treated my family and I as if we were terrorists. Never communicated any complaints(with no basis for complaints) to myself or any of the other families that were camping with us(Kids 6 months-15 years old), Parents, Grandparents, Great Grandparents, Cousins and Aunts and Uncles). The hosts made it very apparent that they did not want us there(still completely beside myself). Upon entering, my father inlaw was approached by host and was told that she was concerned with our group size and was already anticipating problems. Persons in our group were harassed by rangers and accused of smoking«dope». Noise complaints from playing whiffle ball at 11am to a group member departing in his jeep minutes after quiet hours to pick up his son at front of park. I will be lodging complaints for serious misconduct to the park management and against the Rangers for the misuse of power, excessive/unnecessary force, harassment, departing from the truth, lack of courtesy and professionalism and discrimination. The conduct of the Rangers involved, in regards to the information they received from the camp hosts, is absolutely deserving of an investigation into the abuse of authority. My husband was approached around 7 – 7:30am by Park Ranger Brown and was immediately asked where the«dope» is and how she could smell it emitting from our tent. I was currently in the tent nursing my 6 month old son and my 7 year old son and 2 year nephew were asleep. I was asked to wake them up and I was told to step out from the tent. Ranger Brown then asked me, in front of my children, if I was smoking«dope» inside the tent with my children… absolutely horrified by this accusation, I bit my tongue and complied with her requests. We were asked if we had any weapons on us and as other persons camping with us began to awake, each and every one was asked for the ID and if they had any weapons on them. We were confined to sit at the table, while the Rangers held their hands on their weapons and treated us as if we were a group of thugs. The three Park Rangers executed a search of my family’s tent and our vehicle, which they found nothing. We were all asked again«Who has the dope». We were all in complete and utter shock at this accusation. The fact that they came up empty handed must’ve pissed them off because we were all told at this point that we(entire group camping across 8+ individual camping sites) had one hour to pack up and leave or we would be arrested for trespassing. One Ranger approached one of dogs intentionally after seeing her demeanor towards him and how far her leash reached and kicked her in the head. Other individuals camping adjacent to us saw the entire thing go down and was in complete and utter shock how this was handled. So much so, that they decided to leave as well. After departing, one of the Rangers recognized my brother and sisters vehicles park alongside the road near a hiking trail and ticketed ONLY them for their tires being slightly over the line, with a whole line of vehicles parked in front and in back in the exact same manner. Our annual campout if supposed to be filled with laughter, fun and building fond memories with your loved ones. Instead it turned into this and I will never return to that campground again. I would highly suggest that you stay far away from this place!

Rangers kicked my sister out of her tent while breastfeeding, proceeded to search her families tent and vechicle… tearing it apart because they smelled marijuana. They found nothing, there was never anything to find. After the hostile treatment they kicked us out because no one would take responsibility for something we had no idea about after their search was fruitless. As for the site… it was extreamly cramped and run by gestapo. It’s a beautiful location, I would recommend going to another site if you plan on staying up past 10 and want a little space. If you plan on commitng the henious crime of smoking a joint camping… go far far away or face a SWAT like response from the local rangers on a power trip.

Clean and spacious campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park. It’s great to camp here to hike anywhere in Lassen. General thing are there, including bear box, table, the rest room, trash box. It’s right near the Summit lake and really pretty. Quiet as well.
