Great food — had salmon and basmati rice. Delicious yogurt cilantro salad dressing on house salad starter. Good variety on wine by the glass selection. Attentive but not hovering waitstaff.

Same couple has been doing it for 30 years. It was great when it started as the original Le Gorille, and it only has gotten better with age, like the fine wines they serve. Go!

I really don’t know why we don’t come here more often. I’ve been at this restaurant once or twice a year for several years and have always had an outstanding meal. Last night we had a late dinner of 4 appetizers instead of two main courses. There was so much food we brought one home. You’ll find usual items and more importantly, things that you won’t see elsewhere. Of of our appetizers, for example, was a large slice(!) of cauliflower, grilled with herbs and served over a savory sauce. Another was a portobello mushroom layered with goat cheese and eggplant, served with a creamy red sauce. We mopped up that plate with pieces of their outstanding homemade bread(hard crust, soft center). Today’s lunch will be the crabmeat wrapped in phylo that we took home. While we didn’t have main courses last night, the ones we had other nights are still memorable. I highly recommend the brisket, if it is on the menu. Reservations are mandatory. The kitchen is small and they are very careful about timing the seatings so as to not overwhelm it. This only adds to the quality. While waiting, there is a lovely, well stocked bar with flavored roasted peanuts(you can ask to buy a jar, but if you don’t ask you won’t know they’re for sale.)

Always amazing! My husband and I have been coming here for 2 yrs and the food, service and ambience are consistently great. We have also had Sharon & Peter cater events for us and our guests couldn’t have been more pleased. Thank you to everyone on the fork staff for all of your delicious meals & hard work! P. S. Do NOT miss the forkin good nuts!

Consistently good food and excellent service. The bread is fresh, soft on the inside, crusty on the outside, the salad dressings are divine, pork chop, salmon cakes and short ribs to die for. Only a half hour from Woodloch and 1.5 hrs from NYC. Quaint, romantic, charming atmosphere especially on cold snowy winter nights. This IS my favorite place in the world… Don’t miss this one!

Third visit was a charm. I was here twice before for very good, but not memorable meals. Christmas Eve dinner changed that. Warm, homemade sourdough bread, perfect arancini, yummy salad dressings, fabulous short ribs, filet, and hanger steak. Can’t wait to go back. This place is out in the woods, but worth the drive. It’s nicely decorated and has a cute, very small front bar area with a kickin’ pellet stove for cold nights. There is a table for two in the back in front of the picture window looking out over a small field. Very pretty.
