Aamco Transmissions

In all fairness, this review begins with terrible and I feel dishonest service six years back. There was considerable promises made which were broken and the manager at that time was incompetent in fixing my transmission and it took almost one month rather than the two days he promised. Once the car came back, it had to go to the shop several times and they attempted to charge me again. Then, there was a new manager. By contract, with a lifetime warranty you must have your car checked yearly. I brought the car in each year and asked for a statement assuring that the car had been rechecked. Two years ago, I was told by that manager that the car did not need a certificate as it was in their computer which would be good all over the country. I called the national office who told me that that was NOT true and that if I did not have a written certificate, and if that franchise went out of business, there would be no record of upkeep. I called over one dozen times for a certificate and was constantly promised one to be sent which never came. The national company said that they would get it for me but never came through. I finally drove over (a considerable distance) and talked to yet a new manager who was very gracious but told me that the previous manager had never put in the computer that I came for a check up. He was nice enough to give me a certificate and stated that he had had this problem with others and would make it right — which he did. After reading Shayla’s report I agree that the new manager seemed quite honest. My present problem and the reason for such a bad review was not only did I have a horrible experience with the first couple managers but the reason I went there in the first place was the national reputation of Aamco and I thought it would be nice to have a transmission which could be fixed anywhere over the country. I felt totally abandoned by the national corporation (whom I had talked with many times seeking help) when I was having such a problem with their local franchise. If I should get a new car which would need a transmission, I no longer have confidence that the company would stand behind their local franchise for poor service. I would definitely go elsewhere to get that service.

I was helped by the manager, Bill, I noticed most of the reviews for the Shoreline in AAMCO were written back in 2009 or 2008.
So here is my experience with the AAMCO in shoreline that seems to be under new management experience.
Before I took my car to Aamco in Shoreline, I was really hesitant after reading the reviews on
, but noticed the glowing reviews under City Search, and how they seem to be all written about some manager that was bald named Rocky.
Well, I met a manager named Bill, and the owner of the AAMCO in shoreline, neither were bald, or named Rocky.
Needless to say, I’m really glad I took my car there, because
I cannot tell you how happy I was!
Not only were they able to fix the tranmission, but they also fixed the front wheel bearings on my car! So for the first time in 4 years, my car is QUIET on the roads. I’m so happy that they took care of this for me, and informed me that if this wasn’t taken care of, this could pose as a danger to my safety.
What I was very pleased with was the fact that my tranmission didn’t need to be replaced either! It needed some repairs, but didn’t need to be completely replaced! I was so scared, because I was quoted up to 1 to 2k at other auto repair shops. So I was extremely happy with their friendly staff, and HONEST customer service.
I got a really great deal for my front wheel bearings, and my transmission, but AAMCO was able to fix both for FAR LESS then I thought it was going to be based on the 1−2k quotes from other auto
repair shops. I understand other cars and situations are different, but this was my experience.
I highly recommend them to anyone else.

I took my car here and had the most nightmarish experience of my life. They kept my car for a month, rarely returned my phone calls, billed twice as much as the initial estimate and lied to me about a number of things. I left paying over $ 3,000. Rocky, the guy in charge, is the biggest scam artist I have ever met and will use your car as collateral to manipulate you. DO NOT DROP YOUR CAR OFF HERE.

Did a great job on my 2001 BMW to fix a tricky O2 sensor. They even worked me in on a busy day and it was very reasonable. The lead mechanic personally walked me through the fix after he returned from the test drive. Definitely recommend!

JW took the words out of my mouth. I had almost the same exact experience at the Shoreline AAMCO:
They convinced me to come in with their promise of a «free diagnostic». Turns out their diagnostic consisted of driving the car around the block and declaring I’d need a rebuilt transmission. They quoted a price of $ 1900. I said OK. A week and countless phone calls later, they said «additional problems» had been found and the estimate suddenly jumped to $ 3900! And that even if I they did no work, they’d charge me $ 1400 in labor alone to put it back together!
It is quite obvious this is their method of operation:
1) Get customer to come in with promises of «free» tow and diagnostic
2) Give customer a lowball quote and get their commitment to perform work (might as well write a blank check at this point)
3) After the car is in pieces, wildly jump up the cost of repair, knowing full well that the customer is backed into a corner.
Avoid at all costs!
