I recently moved to an old house on Capitol Hill and had to change ISPs. I’m glad I chose Eskimo North, because I may very well have lost my mind dealing with Century Link(the folks who own the wires) on my own. Robert’s patience, forbearance, and technical understanding helped ease my frustrations with a too-lengthy installation process — I’m pretty sure that I’d still be waiting for a service call many weeks later were it not for him. Eskimo North has earned my trust in a way no other ISP ever has.

I signed on with Eskimo North so long ago I can’t remember when. They’ve had their ups and downs but with Nanook back at the helm not only has the Internet service been consistently great, there have been significant improvements. Eskimo partners with local phone companies to provide DSL service. In addition, if you already have Internet Eskimo will provide you with email and can host your web site and blog. Of course, you already have an email address, maybe several of them. So why pay a nominal amount to Eskimo for another email address? Because Eskimo will not mine your email and sell your information for advertising revenue.(You know that happens with your Comcast, Verizon, CenturyLink, Frontier, Yahoo, Microsoft emails, right?) Plus, they are a local, small business located in Shoreline, WA.(Their servers are co-located in a facility in Bellevue.) I don’t work for them, I just know these things about the business because they have an optional mailing list that keeps you up to date on what’s going on. You can even give them a two week trial(free!) using your current Internet account to decide!
