Highland Square Apartments

Well the managment here is the worst ive ever seen. My friend lives here and she had a problem with her skylight (it fell off the roof) well, after multiple calls to management and even her getting hurt, they finally replied. Only to do nothing but put up a thick plastic cover (think a garbage bag) on there. There is going to be a downpour soon, so things will get wet. This has been a problem for a year. And finally it took it breaking off and her getting a head injury, for management to do anything. That plastic wont hold up to a windstorm. i hope that they fire the manager and get someone competent.

Being a renter and finding the perfect home can be difficult and time consuming. Luckily I have had the pleasure of calling Highland Square Apartments home for the last 7years. Originally I rented a 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment for my son and I. As our needs grew for a bigger place, we searched for the perfect place that would fill our needs. After a few months of searching in the same neighborhood, it finely dawned on me to stay at Highland Square, just move to a bigger apartment. Jara, our amazing apartment manager helped with the transition, and we couldn’t be happier in our 2bedroom 2bath apartment. Jara is a big reason we love it here. She is very kind, attentive to needs, both big and small. Jara keeps the common areas clean and safe, and is a great sounding board, striving to keep the apartment a peaceful and positive place for all. Many residents also have children, and Jara knows them all by name and they know her as a positive roll model, and someone they could go to in an emergency. The pool and exercise room are focal points in the building, Jara keeps these areas up to date with regular inspections and cleaning. Jara is a very important part of why we love to call Highland Square home.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. They are a part of Cornell and associates (look them up) and will more than likely rob you one way or another. Me and my roommate rented from these people for a year. Never had a walk through of any kind. (while asking repeatedly) and when we left this apartment it was no surprise that they wouldn’t do a walk through at the end of our lease either. After moving out we received a bill for exactly 1,000 that wasn’t itemized of justifiable. When asking for them to clarify this outrageous bill they never got back to us. They sent the bill to collections where it tacked on another 500 dollars. This company will ruin your credit or you’ll end up in some kind of lawsuit. SAVE YOURSELF!

I guess it’s true what they say, the only people who take the time to review had a really bad experience.
I love this place, and both my neighbors love this place too. The location is perfect, sort of upitty Richmond Beach but close enough to Seattle, 99 and the 5. Jara, the manager is hilarious and is one thing that I’ve found most property managers aren’t: honest. She can shoot the shit but she maintains her professionalism while still making you feel comfortable.
The area is quiet and a lot of the tenants who live here are older, and have lived here for several years. Our neighbor said she’s been here for 7 years and loves it.
The layout of (at least) our apartment is wonderful, two bedroom with three floors. Every time we have people over they comment on how huge the place is. Really nice way to come home every day.
Also close to bus lines, which is awesome for me as I take the metro to work every day.
The one negative I have after many months is people parking in my parking spot. Super frustrating problem as it’s hard to figure out who it is and tell them to gtfo without just yelling up and down the place («who owns the red Honda?!»), lol so you usually have to tough that one out. I’ve told Jara each time it’s happened and she’ll walk her tiny butt out there to get the info. Sucks if the person who parked there doesn’t live in the building.
Anyway, I’d definitely recommend this place to live, and as long as you’re professional and communicative you won’t have issues.

Awful place to live. Windows leak heat like a sieve. We were constantly getting $ 400 energy bills. Management is an absolute joke. The first day we moved in, the blinds in our lofted apartment broke. I told him about it and asked him to come take a look. A month later, he finally comes to me and tells me I need to formally submit a request.
Ok, I do that. Two months later, he comes in, looks up at the blinds and says «Those are really high up. I’d need like a ladder for that!» … and then he never entered the apartment again.
Pool was also constantly out of service. Fitness room was adequate, and since it connected to the management’s office, there was a bottle of whiskey in the bathroom!
