Sew Generously

Had a wool sweater patched on the outside (not a re-​knit or attempt to patch from inside).
Worksmanship and color matching were excellent, obvious attention paid to detail.
Would recommend to others.

I waited five years to find a tailor like David. I found him on Unilocal,liked his website and took a chance. He’s fantastic!
I came to him with a suit that fit ok-​ish and he turned it into a better fit than I thought was possible. Prices are reasonable and he goes the extra mile – he called Penney’s for me to help me get my suit jacket exchange.
Don’t be fooled by the low number of reviews – David is an undiscovered gem. Thanks to him I can finally stop tolerating clothes that don’t *quite* fit right.

I found a seersucker suit for my wedding that looked great but didn’t fit, and a friend told me to go to David to have it altered. David consulted with me, took my measurements, and asked me questions about where I was getting married and what the weather would be like. Two fittings later, I had an amazing suit that fit me like a glove and looked AMAZING in wedding photos. He also gave me some advice on accessories and ways to wear and take care of the clothing.
Since then I’ve gone to him for everything from split seams in pants to repairing cuffs on a hoodie to fixing pockets on my coat. I cannot recommend David enough!

Excellent option for anyone in North Seattle who can’t drop off and pick up alterations during normal business hours. He lives right off I-​5 and I dropped off at 9pm on a Saturday and picked up on Monday afternoon. Couldn’t have been easier, and the quality of work was solid. Typically I only need hemming and such, but from the other reviews, I trust that he can do it all. Give it a go. Convenience, friendliness, competence, and good prices. What more can you ask for.

I’ve been meaning to put the word out about this gem who did alterations at Nordstroms for the past 9 years until last month. To our benefit, David Pew is now working on his own as Sew Generously*, conveniently located in a residential neighborhood near the Shoreline library. We found David’s alteration expertise to be invaluable – very competent advice & helpful, creative solutions. His work was superb, prices excellent, and the turnaround time on the extreme rush job he did on my daughter’s prom dresses was outstandingly accommodating (he hemmed 2 full-​length multi-​layered gowns and did a zipper adjustment in time for her to catch her flight). David has a very calming, reassuring, positive presence and put us at ease from the get go. It was nice to see his lovely young family, too – very comfortable environment. Overall truly a pleasure to work with David, who does indeed Sew Generously. We’ll definitely be returning.

I’ve been on the look out for a good tailor for a while. The one I usually go to, she’s too concerned about what’s easy for her rather than what’s the right way to do it to get the best result.
I found David just on Unilocal.The pictures really showed me that this guy has an old school approach and has pride in his work… take a look at his button whole handiwork.
I had a small project as «test» and David was cool and fixed it on the spot and it cost me less than $ 10! SOLD!
Now the next question is, «Is the guy cool to work with?» YUP. Really cool down to earth guy. He has a lot of pride in his work and it shows. He’s the kind of person that if you weren’t satisfied, you can tell him and he’ll try and make it right. He’s a straight up kinda guy and that works with me.
I’m the type of person that holds things for YEARS and YEARS. I’d rather pay American labor to fix something than go out and buy brand new cheap made in China crap (and I’m from East Asia).
If you’ve come across Sew Generously and not sure, I think you’ll be as pleasantly surprised as I am.
