Fool Hollow State Park is one of the best hidden gems for campers in Arizona. My wife and I have stayed there twice so far, and planning on going there again in late March. The facilities are top notch and super clean! For the RVers, FH offers full hook-ups with both 30 and 50 amp service. It was also great for us to be able to park our trailer on a very nice concrete pad. Also, the views and boat rental facility just added more to our overall impression of this gem!

Paved roads, paved parking with hook ups for trailers and trucks. Grills and fie pits. Pine trees. A lake. All in Arizona! Loved this place. The ranger was friendly and nformative when he delivered firewood. The weather was beautiful for hiking. I can see how this is is a great place to escape the heat. Next time we need our kayaks!

We’ve been through here several times but this was our first stay. We booked over a month in advance to avoid the«shared spaces». Ended up in Ruddy Duck 3 and we were really happy with the space. A little breathing room with a distant lake view and a quick convenient trail right down to the water’s edge. Hiking trails well maintained, easy walk, with great views. We fished two days with just one catfish caught from the shore(despite boat fishing attempts :-). The folks who work here were very friendly. The entire grounds were clean and welcoming. It was quiet and peaceful. Except for the wild elk calls at night… awesome! Would definitely recommend a stay here when in the area!

First time camping since we had kids. I was looking for some nice amenities to introduce them to camping. Read some good reviews and scoured the state Park website. Booked online and ended up with an RV spot for our tent(no tent spaces on short notice). The site was really nice, we were at Cinnamon Teal 26. The state website didn’t do it justice. What a view! Not much level ground for the tent but we made it work. The whole park was very clean and well maintained. There was a nice little park across the street, bathrooms with showers, and the dumpster– close but not too close. I had to take a 4am bathroom trek and was glad it wasn’t further away. The bathroom area sidewalks were lit but it was dark everywhere else. The town was really close by. I could hear a little road noise until around 10 Saturday night. I was glad it was close when I discovered our cooler wasn’t cold enough and we needed to feed the family. On Sunday we rented a canoe and a sit-on-top kayak. Pricing wasn’t bad and boats/oars were good condition. Dogs are allowed on the boats ;) There was a lot of wildlife– we saw a skunk, a bald eagle, nosey squirrles, fish, and what may or may not have been the hugest beaver I have ever seen. Overall, this was a great little spot. A really nice park. We had a great little getaway weekend. We will be back.

Amazing camping site for families! My family and I truly loved this campground and we stayed in Northern Harrier #9. We brought our dog with us and we stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. There so many activities families can do like kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and etc. For first time campers I give a totally recommendation.

It is a very clean park. Not a great swimming area. But still very clean. Bathroom and showers clean. Problem came during exiting. We had until noon to check out but ranger made us leave at 11.

Amazing place! The camp host was the friendliest, kindest, cutest guy ever! He nominated our family«coolest camp family» this Memorial Day weekend. This campground is extremely clean and well taken care of. I will go back again and again. Great place on all levels. I was in Cinnamon Teal 14. From the campers to the police, to the host, everyone was welcoming. thank you Fool Hollow for an amazing experience!

Stayed in a motor home in Cinnamon Teal 24. A nice site with views overlooking the lake. The park is very well kept and the rangers and hosts seem to really enjoy being here. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The park is situated so you have no idea the town is just a short drive away. Facilities are older but everything is kept in clean working order. The water level in the lake was extremely low but we did see people catching fish. The site layout is unusual with RVs being situated virtually next to each other in pairs, with one set back from the other so they aren’t wall to wall. Hopefully you’ll have good neighbors– we did. We look forward to returning

Why does time, while camping, simultaneously run fast and slow? You get the feeling at Fool Hollow. Surprisingly, you’ll find that two or three hours have passed, but the place is so lovely and serene, that the rejuvenation leaves you feeling like no time passed at all. This is a great little campground located within miles of Show Low. It is not remote in the least. As you make your way to the campground, you pass through a neighborhood full of glorious homes situated among tall pines. And, within minutes, you can find yourself at a Dollar General, Safeway, Starbucks or local eatery. Not kidding, less than 15 minutes away. But, once inside, the campground has the feeling of being a bit more remote. It’s glorious! And one of the most well-groomed campsites I have ever been to. Seriously, I saw hosts grooming their landscaped pads multiple times during the 2.5 day stay. Multiple times! A few things to know: 1. Fool Hollow tends to max out, so be sure to get your reservation( ) in early. Costs are between $ 17 and $ 30. 2. The camp is split in two — electrical and non-electrical. It is not as common to find tents in the electric RV area, but if you are tent camping only, you can make a reservation among the rows upon rows of RVs. For the most part, the sites are of decent size and you don’t feel like you are hovering over your neighbor. 3. There are a couple of day use areas. Be sure to check them out. The views are stunning. 4. The site tends to run educational programs, so check with the ranger to learn more. 5. You can rent bikes, kayaks and canoes here by the hour. 6. You can buy ice and firewood on site(be sure to check fire restrictions before your arrival). 7. Bring your bathing suit. You can swim in the lake. 8. None of the sites are directly on the water. The map is somewhat misleading. However, it appears that those in Bald Eagle/Osprey/Northern Harrier are nearest the water. Granted, you will have to trek down a sloping hill full of rocks and small boulders to reach the water’s edge. 9. The restrooms are modern and handicap accessible. They even have showers that you can use for no extra charge. Showers, folks! 10. You can fish here — rainbow trout, large and small mouth bass, black crappie, green sunfish, channel catfish, walleye and northern pike. And they even have beaver in there! I am pretty sure I saw one during our visit. So, yes, a wonderful place for a visit.

So lovely. There are camp sites with electric, and campsites without electric. You can canoe or kayak for an hourly fee or pay for an all day rental. The lake is stocked with trout, bluegill, crappie, catfish, walleye, you name it. $ 7.00 per car fee to drive in and out all day if you like, or $ 3.00 per person to walk in.
