First, read Billy Joe J.‘s review. His review is spot on and covers most everything. Awesome job as always Billy! Only things I would like to add are: During school season the park is closed Mon — Fri during school hours which are 7:30 — 3:30. The trail that Billy mentioned makes a big circle around the park and is excellent for jogging. The kids play area really is well designed and awesome with a little bit of everything. The water spray area is very popular with the little kids when it is scorching hot outside. I suggest bringing a folding chair so you will have a spot to sit and watch them.

I love this park and I enjoy it as much now, as I did when I was a kid. We used to play many of our flag football league games here in the 3rd grade(League Champs, 1980-Go Chargers!) on the adjoining football field. This was our«house»!!! The H-goal posts still stand, and to this day, if I bring a football along with me to the park, I’m still about 99% accurate from about 15 – 20 yards out… Yup. Just saying. This park and its’ playground are of course next to one of the most architecturally eye-pleasing elementary schools in all of Louisiana, the Hacienda-styled school also named A.C. Steere, after the man who gave the land for the campus and park. There’s plenty of activity at this park on nice weather days and often, in-season, you can catch the Shreveport Rugby Club in action, playing against other teams from the usual four-state surrounding area. Movies and Moonbeams will show the occasional outdoor film here at night. There’s a picnic area, spray ground, tennis courts and a trail. This is really, obviously, is a great place to bring the little ones and it’s all completely free, it’s a public park. The school-btw-for any location scout reading this-would be great for a movie or tv show b/c of it’s timelessness and west coast influence in structuring, this school could be the setting of anywhere out west, esp. California.
