Horrible food. Instant diarrhea. Like had to use restroom before I even got to the car. Beans were old. Rice smelt like dish water. The chili main dish was obviously old. Whole plate microwaved. This place will make you sick!

We walked in around 8pm, looked around for the hostess who was found sitting in the back corner of the restaurant on her phone. She didn’t look the least bit professional, her belly hung out of the bottom of her shirt and she didn’t even set down menus at our table. Went to the bathroom while my boyfriend was seated. The ladies room smelled of strong fecal aroma. Came back to the table where my boyfriend sat eating watered down salsa with thin and greasy chips. I ordered two tacos one chicken and one steak. Honestly the steak was as good as anything you’d get at Taco Bell. The chicken was tough and dry as hell, tasted like it had been sitting in a freezer for a few months too long. The corn tortillas were soggy with who knows what(probably grease) and they fell apart on me as soon as I picked it up. My boyfriend ordered the chicken fajita chimichanga(picture) and he was starving. He usually has a hearty appetite but he couldn’t even finish his meal. The cheese dip served with his chimichanga looked like dried up velveeta cheese with some other crap in it. It was much too expensive for what we had ordered — two waters, two single tacos and a chimichanga platter came out to about $ 20. Would not recommend this place for the nasty quality of food the and quite frankly my concern for it’s sanitation.

They have a back room and I am booking a Saints football game party with my friends. Fajita Buffet. Can’t wait. They are doing drink specials for us. Go Saints

First impression: The chips are stale. The salsa tastes like watery tomato sauce with a tiny kick. The water tastes from the tap. Dinner: Fajita Monterey Chicken plate. The chicken tasted like it was grilled over a fire. It was topped with melted cheese and grilled green peppers. I thought it was delicious. The rice tasted like expected. The green beans, mushrooms, and carrots were sautéed. I thought they were pretty good too. Desert: Fried Ice cream. Vanilla Ice Cream covered by a thin layer of sopapilla batter. Drizzled with chocolate syrup. Bill: We could hear the servers socializing in the back while we waited for our bill. She was nice though. We waited about 7 mins. Total came out to be about $ 20.

Shocked this place didn’t have a review. Please see my other El Chico’s reviews as I am a staunch supporter of the chain. LOVEIT! However, this location(and I used to work here while in college) seems to be trying to improve their position. There has been a remodel of the furniture. The staff is about the same as it was blah blah years ago. This place truly caters to the Interstate traffic and I don’t really think so much the neighborhood. It closes at 9pm as well as Fern Ave which I think is unfortunate. I don’t know what’s going on with El Chico’s but the food and salsa remains great. Management ok Upper Management — may not know what to do to salvage the place but I think I have some ideas(picture the typical ABC family montage here). Anywhoo, they have authentic taco’s now or try as they might. The COmbo options are fly. The DINEFORTWO options remain and I must admit they are useful options for $ 18.99 . Get out. Dine here before it’s too late and then you’ll only wish you had as the chips, salsa, corn tortillas, and Mexican Apple Pie, Mix Grilled Fajitas are worth fighting for. :* muah
