We just had dinner here tonight. I doubt I’ll ever go again. The food was not great for the price. Now that we are home my belly is hurting badly. I’m just hoping I didn’t get food poisoning from this place.

This is the second time I’ve tried podnuhs. First time was a while ago and I remember that it wasn’t great but I figured I’d give it another try. Second time wasn’t too great either. I ordered the sampler platter that has a little bit of everything. Got a baked potato as one of my sides. It was VERY apparent that the potato had been sitting around for quite a while. It was luke warm, waxy, and old. No amount of butter and sour cream could salvage it. I don’t eat a lot of salt but even to me, the brisket was so bland, absolutely no seasoning at all. The ham had also been sitting under the heat lamp for a bit. The end piece was crusty and dry. It was pretty much ham jerky. The rib was okay, well seasoned but it was pretty much half a rib, not much meat to it. I liked the baked beans and the Texas toast. Overall, it was pretty disappointing. I know that I will not be going back again.

We got the family meal that feeds 5 – 7 people, and it was a pretty good portion… the food was fresh too. We got pork ribs(tasted OK), chicken and turkey were good. Baked beans and greens were OK. I’d go back.

People complaining about having to scoop their own incredibly delicious sides need to take a second to realize that A. You get more that way, and B. This place does not put a tip line on your credit card receipt. That’s right, folks, you don’t have to tip, what’s on the money is what you pay. Let’s not forget the quality of the BBQ itself. My half chicken was tender and juicy with plenty of smoke flavor and the sauce? Excellent. 10⁄10WOULDEATAGAIN

I like this place… This was my Go-To when I lived in Shreveport while working on a movie for several months. I’ve had tons’ of BBQ, from all over the country and this place was similar to what I’d had in many of the better places. Nothing really special about the sauce or the food, it was just really good(as it should be). I did read the Unilocal reviews before going in and people trashed it big time. They don’t know what they’re talking about. Maybe it was a one-time thing where they had bad service or they ordered something«special» that didn’t taste right. I went here probably twice a week and usually tried something different everytime. It was pretty much all good! The coolest part was there was a drive through window service that usually served us pretty quick. Bravo! If you’re in Shreveport… Check it out, you’ll dig it.

If you can imagine school cafeteria BBQ in a grownup restaurant, you will have Podnuhs exactly. Everything either had no flavor at all, like the meats and mac ‘n cheese, or it had a slightly funky flavor, like the bbq sauce and baked beans. It wasn’t even all that cheap. According to Unilocal there are several other BBQ restaurants in the area — try those first.

Podnuh’s got recommended by several people when I came to Shreveport for work, so I knew I’d have to check them out. The staff were extremely friendly when I stopped in for lunch, and I decided on their sampler platter to get a broad spectrum of offerings. The St. Louis cut ribs were very good, with perfect bite off the bone texture, and the brisket was a great reminder that we were awfully close to Texas BBQ country. The sliced ham was OK but not terribly impressive, but the smoked sausage and hot links made up for it. Collard greens were solid, but the beans were rather underwhelming. All things considered I had a decent meal with good value for my dollar, and I’d go back again — but I think I’d stick to the ribs and brisket over their ham.

This place was wretched. The restaurant part was clean and inviting, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. Husby had a combination platter — pork BBQ and spicy sausage with a side of baked beans and potato salad. The woman who was working behind the counter pulled the BBQ pork out of a ziplock bag and the sausage had apparently been sitting for a while — she just pulled it out of a bin and sliced it. The pork was dry, the BBQ sauce was really funky — they use pickle juice in it and it has a strange taste. The sausage was passable — but it seemed to my husband like it had been in a warmer for an extended amount of time. I had the combination platter — chicken and ham. The chicken was okay(it wasn’t dry) but the ham was so salty my tastebuds cringed. I had the baked potato as a side(I opted not to have any of the veg — if eating healthy is important to you, Podnuh’s ISN’T the place to eat) and that was fairly good(but how can someone screw up a baked potato???)… Oh, there is no beer or wine available — and there’s nothing better with BBQ than a ice-cold crispy beer… nope. None to be had. All-in-all, probably one of the worst meals that we’ve had in Shreveport. Oh, and please note that Podnuh’s is pretty much a self-serve restaurant. The food is ordered cafeteria-style.

The BBQ sauce is tasty! The brisket & pork & ribs are pretty good too. The Mac-n-cheese is okay as well as the coleslaw & the beans are good. Decent prices. Not jumping up & down but I know I’ll be back. Solid 3.5. I have definitely had better but I didn’t walk away feeling disappointed either. That’s my 2 cents.

Full. ugh…this place always fills me up. This evening, I picked up the hot link special for $ 3.99 plus tax. It’s two hot links, sauced and placed over two buttered burger buns, and your choice of two sides(I always get beans and potato salad!) but they also have good-looking mashed potatoes and brown gravy, macaroni and cheese and coleslaw among other items. I would love to try these other sides but my heart is always set on the beans and potato salad. I have eaten bbq from all over these parts and other parts as well and as much as I hate to say it, this is some of the best, most affordable bbq, that I have ever had. It’s just good. I have a friend whose favorite food is bbq. Some people like Mexican, some people like Italian, some people like seafood. My friend likes bbq, and he has gone on global, epic searches for bbq. He says the same thing: Through Memphis, St. Louis and all over Texas, Podnuh’s comes back like a boomerang as one of the best! And my friend says, and I agree with him on this… It doesn’t just come down to the sauce, or the meat, but the real litmus test for a bbq joint is… how good are the beans… Seriously! And the beans at Podnuh’s are some of the best beans(sweet with brown sugar, savory with chunks of beef inside!) on this green Earth! Podnuh’s is very testy and affordable for families! And get the beans as a side item!

If you like Food poisoning, this is the place to be. Went here for lunch when I was visiting Shreveport for the first time. Ordered the BBQ ribs which was dry and generic. 4 hours later all hell broke loose… worst bout of diarrhea combined with puking that lasted 12 hours. I wish podnuhs not even on my worst enemy. Go to blue moon for decent BBQ.

Texas, schmexas bbq — what do THEY know? They DEFinitely don’t know what BBQ beans are because they ALL pale in comparison to Podnuh’s smoky, meat infused baked beans. Everything in texas seems to come out of a can and their sides are all after thoughts… not here! The sides hold their own up against some serious down home sausage, tender brisket and delish smoked chicken and turkey. When I come home, this is it for me and I have YET to find a jernt on my new stomping grounds that tops it.

I came here for dinner, had the BBQ sample platter coming to $ 14 after taxes with a Sweet tea. Maybe I was expecting too much from reading the reviews, but the food was just mediocre, nothing special. The ribs where tender and juicy despite being under a heat lamp for a while it seems. The ham and sausage were pretty tasty as well as the brisket. I grabbed a cobb of corn and beans as the sides, but they didnt taste too good to me. The beans tasted like they were served in vinegar as they were way too sour for my liking, and the corn seemed to be boiled in a pot of water used to bathe chickens in. I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother used to slay her own chicken for dinner that she got live from the market. One of the processes I remembered was after killing it, she’d dip it in some boiling water to somehow make removing the feathers easier. As she’d pull the chicken back out of the water, I specifically remember the sour smell of it’s matted feathers as steam evaporated off it’s body. That smell is what the corn tasted like. Oh did I mention I had the pleasure of tasting lingering mold from the copper pipes used to transport the tap water in my sweet tea? It was more like mold tea than sweet tea. So, if you want some ok BBQ, go there, but be sure to bring your own sides and drink unless you want some wet chicken feather and mold taste to compliment your BBQ dinner.

A solid meal at a reasonable price. Some of the items had been sitting around a while – not sure if sitting on a boiler counts as «slow cooking». Nonetheless, the flavor was excellent.

This place is awesome. As bad as it makes me feel after I eat it, its all worth it leading up to it. The potato salad, beans and toast are the best parts… but their meats are great too. The sweet tea is really good too. I’d eat here everyday… maybe its because we dont have one in New Orleans and so I can only enjoy it only when passing through Baton Rouge or visiting Shreveport. Theres nothing special about the actual restaurant, but it shouldnt be. Its exactly what you’d expect from a southern BBQ joint

I was really excited about eating bbq while on my trip to Louisiana. I had a checklist for all the things I wanted to eat while in the South. BBQ was one of them(along with catfish, grits, etc.). Well, when I heard that we were going to get BBQ from a local place I was very excited. I couldn’t wait. I was craving some brisket like no other. I actually have not set foot inside this location. So I cannot review the restaurant itself. I can only tell you what the take-out was like. We ordered the food from the restaurant and brought it over to my grandmother’s assisted care facility, where the staff had arranged for all of us to eat in one of the activity rooms there(by the way, when my dad’s family get together, we’re huge so we need space to spread out and socialize). We had ordered brisket and pork ribs w/sauce, roasted chicken, sausage, potato salad, green beans, pork ‘n’ beans, and peach cobbler. I was disappointed in the brisket. It was dry and needed the sauce for extra flavor. The chicken had an excellent smokey flavor. The pork ribs and sausage were very flavorful. The pork ‘n’ beans tasted great. They had shredded meat in them and created a unique texture to the pork ‘n’ beans. The green beans were a bit salty for my taste. The potato salad was definitely yummy and I went back for seconds on it and the pork ‘n’ beans. I also went back for more of the peach cobbler. If only it had a scoop of vanilla ice cream it would have been even better. I don’t know what the restaurant experience would have been like, but I enjoyed what I ate. I just wish that the food wasn’t as salty as it was and that the brisket was more tender. I don’t think I’d go back for the brisket again. I’d definitely eat the sausage, ribs, or chicken for my main meal.
