I plan my trips to Shreveport around this event, have been going there for years with my brothers and cousins. If you have not been you’re missing a great event! Entertainment is good food is great drinks are good too.

The Revel is one of the best festivals in Shreveport/Bossier. I love all the art. It is the perfect time of year and the weather is usually amazing. They always have really good festival food. One of the things I love most is they usually try to book a Christian band for Wednesday night and they have other local band thru the week.

There are multitudes of festivals almost weekly here these days, and I ain’ complainin’! But when you get down to it, there are really just 2 big ones, and this is one of them. Though the weather may not always reflect it, this festival is the unofficial kickoff to Fall ’round here, and the other festival, Mudbug Madness on Memorial Day weekend, is the unofficial local kickoff to Summer. This festival is the most artsy, with more arts and crafts offered, and more live music. The Revel also lasts longer, about seven days. This year’s Revel is ongoing, as I write and you read this, but Saturday evening October 12th is the culmination. This year’s festival isn’t offering some of the larger names in entertainment as in years’ past such as Keith Urban, The Wreckers, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Solange Knowles, Morris Day and The Time, The Little River Band, or Jerry Jeff Walker among others. But 2 Revel veteran acts that I adore are playing this year: Dirtfoot and Trout Fishing In America. I LOVE both of these bands immensely and they are way worth seeing at the Revel. The food at the Revel cannot be beat. To beat parking, one might also consider the free shuttle system from Mall St Vincent and Pierre Bossier Mall. Dirtfoot plays Saturday October 12th from 8:30 to 10pm on the El Dorado stage. LSU plays Florida at 2:30, so the game will already be over, so you ain’ got no excuse not to be there!
