Took this River tour today. It’s about 45 minutes long and the boat’s captain was nice, giving a guided tour and talking about some of the history of the River and the local businesses, casinos, and gambling. You can also see some of the local wildlife. It was very nice.

Quite a hidden gem of Shreveport! Leaving every hour on the hour(10am-4pm on Weekends, slightly shorter availability on weekdays), this tour lasts just about 35 – 45 minutes and takes you up and down the Red River. The captain, a wonderful gentleman, hopped on board and promptly offered us cold bottled water and advice to sit in the front of the boat under the shade awning and in the best spot for a nice breeze(ALL great suggestions considering the sheer heat and the inability of this Northerner to handle it!) We took off right at 11 and headed down along the river. The Captain gave us a live guided narration that included tidbits about the local community and inhabitants that you won’t find in any guide book. We were lucky enough to see turtles sunning themselves, egrets, and other water fowl. We also were able to see all the casinos and learn a bit about their history as well. I loved all of it and really wished we could cruise around all day. It’s $ 15 per adult and really worth it. Loved the hospitality and history!

I really enjoyed this cruise. The captain let my 3 daughters drive the boat while he spoke and gave his tour over the loud speaker. We went around 1:00 and it was actually the captain giving the tour and not a recording and he was funny. Real nice guy. We really enjoyed the 45 min cruise down the Red River and wished it was longer.

I have been wanting to do this for a few weeks now so while I was out in Shreveport I dragged my friend along and we were on our way to tour the red river. We walked on board, paid our fee(15 $ per adult) the young guy driving the boat looked worn out. My friend and I snagged a bench on the front of the boat. The tour is a recorded tour, it was about a 45 min trip, seeing the wildlife was really neat and the information about the families along the river. I wouldn’t mind going again and bringing some binoculars!

there is not much to do in shreveport and so we decided to take this river cruise. it’s a 45 minute cruise on the red river. I was surprised that the narrative was a recording of the captain giving you the ins and outs of life on the river. It was impossible to ask the guy driving the boat any questions because you would miss out on what the captain was saying. It was interesting info on the families that live along the river’s edge and we enjoyed watching the different birds swoop around us. i thought it was expensive at $ 50(family of 4) for a 45 minute cruise.

What a great find! The captain will give you a nice narrative throughout the entire boat ride which lasts about an hour up and down the red river. He even let my niece and nephew put on his captain’s hat the let them drive! This is a bargain and something you should do if you are in the area. Plenty of room in the boat to look out the window if you want, but the cool seats are out in front to feel the breeze in your face. Do it!

My family took a short trip to Shreveport and wanted something different to do. Call Captain Sandy and he’ll take you on a boat tour! He let my brother and I drive the boat and was very informative about all the sites and the history of the river. After wards we rented a kayak for my brother and a canoe for my mother and I. We got to paddle down the river to the bayou and experience the sites we just saw even more up close! I would def recommend this if you want to give something different a try!
