I ended up here one afternoon for lunch, because the Costco food court was closed for remodel and I didn’t feel like having anything from the restaurants on that side of the street. I also wasn’t in the mood for Sashimi/Sushi so I ended up at 5 Star Teriyaki. First off — parking. Pretty easy but know that parking in this lot can be hit or miss. I’ve come by for the neighboring businesses before and found parking to be a challenge unless you don’t mind walking. This time for me — I pulled right up and into a space in front of the restaurant. Walk in, order and find a seat. Finding a seat for me wasn’t hard because it wasn’t busy. A lot of take out orders but not many dining in. It was lunchtime. Counter service was friendly. Not much else to say because table service isn’t provided. Food portions weren’t bad for the price and though you can’t tell from the pics — food was okay. I went for the fried rice and it went down well — just wasn’t so awesome that I experienced an explosion of flavors with each bite. I’m not sure I’d recommend this if you want a nice Thai meal — but in a pinch, it definitely worked for me. And the many other carry out customers that came and left while I ate.

Reasons why this place sucks: – Was waiting for car to get serviced, Was starving, walked into this place – Teriyaki beef plate. Lunchmeat-thin beef, white rice, basic lettuce with sauce. Not very filling. More than $ 9 – No cash taken, $ 1.75ATM free. Yes, $ 1.75… It’s considered an ATM so I «took out» $ 20, then my bank added a $ 2 charge. So I paid $ 13 for a ridiculously basic plate of food. It’s 2015, suck up the merchant costs and take credit/debit! – Cheapest, flimsiest plastic forks known to man. Styrofoam everything. – Moves Like jagger on the radio. KILLMENOW. Maybe the thai dishes are better. But why test it? Just go to flame broiler and get your money’s worth

The dining area was nice and clean, and the service friendly. I ordered the shrimp and veggies which were tasty but the portion size gets a thumbs down. The meal wasn’t worth the price. I like to get the most for my money and this just wasn’t the case.

Cannot go wrong with the teriyaki chicken and salad. Very fresh and lean tasting. Doesn’t feel like fast food at all.

I really wanted to like this place since it is located close to work and I love Thai food! However I’ve given it a second and third try and it does not impress. Today I ordered a stir fried noodle dish with tofu to go and it was incredibly greasy. I ate most of it because I was very hungry. The bottom of the plate was covered in grease. I will probably not visit again. The three stars is because they had very fast, attentive service.

Total hole in the wall looks like a fast food chinese takeout. Dark with only about 6 tables. We came in here because kashiwa is closed on Mondays. What a blessing. The tofu pad see ewe is Bomb! I will totally come here again

Been going here as a kid, pretty much my first exposure to teriyaki. My dad would bring home teriyaki bowls from here and I’d be super excited. The teriyaki sauce is very distinct. Sadly as years go by, portions and quality goes down. The price of teriyaki bowls go up and all they give you is a scoop of rice and 4 oz of beef with teriyaki sauce drizzled. Kinda sad but it still maintains their distinct flavor. I could seriously eat this for lunch every day.

Wonderful food and people. I have been coming in since 1988/opening. I drive 25 miles when I need my Triple Taste and Thai Tea.

I’ve been here 4 times and it’s probably one of the better food places in the area. The curry has a good kick and the soups are flavorful. The service is very friendly and the pricing is reasonable for a little place. I plan on trying the BBQ Short Ribs next and I know I will not be disappointed.

I have been coming to this family run business for years! I think they even created a dish just for me! Love this place when I want Thai/Chinese food!

The best part of the chicken teriyaki bowl I had the was the 5-Star sauce. But it was not enough to save ther overall taste of the bowl.

Absolutely the best Thai food around! People come from miles to eat here. Love their soups and LOVE their chili mint and shrimp — everything I have ever ordered has been cooked to perfection. Wish they were open weekends. Gina, the owner, keeps the place running very efficiently and it is spotlessly clean and the service is exceptional!

SHE 7÷31÷14 Work in Signal Hill area; my boss bought us lunch from 5 Star Thai BBQ on Willow Street. It was the BOMB man! I couldn’t stop eating it. The food was delicious. My chicken on skewers were so moist, tender & had great seasoning. We ordered the 3rd item down on the menu under«NOODLES». The Chicken with veggies & soy sauce, glass noodles that are called«Pad-eiw Sen»(the glass noodles, brown in color & a little weird in texture at first) they were out of this world great! It’s way better than«Thai Tiffany» in Torrance. Thai Tiffany’s glass noodles were bland, I didn’t like the texture in my mouth, no seasoning. I said I would try them one more time & I’m glad I did. They were delicious, I didn’t want to share. Matter if fact, ALL of it was the best Thai I ever had. I’m a rice person; even that was amazing, loved it, loved it! No wonder they have been in business for 24 years! BRAVO! «YOUGOTTOEATTHERE»!!!

Sorta what one would expect from your standard fast Chinese food place. The selection of ready made items is a bit slim. I came on a Wednesday during my lunch break as I had forgotten to bring lunch to work. There’s a 2 item special from 11am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday not including holidays so that’s what I went with. 1 snapple and a $ 1.75ATM fee(did I mention it’s cash only) my lunch was over $ 9. Whatever. I asked for sriracha and got one tiny container, asked for another and soy sauce and got 1 packet of soy sauce. Luckily I don’t like a lot so it worked for me. I ordered my food to go but it was so nice and cool in here with nice mellow music that I decided to sit and eat there instead. Traffic picked up as I was there and it seems it’s a lot of regulars who come in and the owner seemed to know them all. She was very friendly and polite. What about the food you ask? Well it has a very well deserved 3 star rating, it wasn’t awful but also not extraordinary or anything I would crave. The fried rice was nice and moist and lacking that sickly greyish color a lot of fast food fried rice has. Kung Pao chicken was standard with a tiny but of spice, chow mein was decent, but for me the orange chicken was way too crispy and hard. I like the nice soft moistness of orange chicken batter and this had definitely been fried for quite some time. If you find yourself in the area without some lunch and it’s a weekday from 11am to 2pm, give it a go.

Thai ice was not that good. I may come back to try the food. They have an atm that change you $ 1.75 to pay and no credit machine. I am so disappointed with the service too.

The food here is greasy, Americanized and not very good. I got a chicken teriyaki bowl and an egg roll. The chicken was not the best quality meat, really rubbery, I didnt even finish the bowl. I just ate some of the rice and veggies that came with it. Also, they don’t have a public restroom. The egg roll smelled gross. I think they used old oil or something? Overall this place isn’t very good, and I don’t think I will be coming back.

Love, love, love 5 Star! Gina and her parents are amazing people and super accommodating. I usually stick with the Thai options and they are more than willing to explain what the dishes are. My parents used to work down the street and came here 2 – 3 times a week. Since they retired we go in here far less, but I have no problem driving down from Culver City to get my 5 Star fix! I often order off the menu, whereas my parents are always happy to get a combo from the steam trays. The steam tray items are still great because they prepare it in small batches so it’s not sitting there forever before you walk in to order. Some of my favorites are the yellow curry, bbq pork fried rice, wor wonton soup w/shrimp & bbq pork, and Pad Woon Sen. Still Water R is from another planet. Their portions are huge and the pricing is on par with all other restaurants of that style. I’ve sampled from all over LA county too. No doubt cheaper can be found, but then I always wonder about the quality of the ingredients.

Price 1.5/5…Seriously Overpriced. That is the truth. Food: It’s greasy for Americans that like to eat this, Those that like Panda Express will also like this place too. Service Nice and Friendly(Not enough for me to come back in the next 50 years!!!) Portion Size: I was still hungry after eating here. That should tell you something. Complete Rip Off. Recommendation: DONOTGOHERE. AVOID.

If you are White who like greasy, Americanized Asian food, you will be in heaven here. For the rest of us who appreciate a balance of quality + quantity, steer clear. This place is greasy, the chicken is too dry and it is also dark meat, the pad thai was to mushy, the beef salad was filled with the cheap kind of lettuce(iceberg), I am gagging just writing this review. The only reason why this place is still in business is because it’s in the middle of Signal Hill(whom my friend refers to as the«Ritzy part of Long Beach»). Do yourself a favor and drive a few miles south, go to the ghetto and get real Thai/Cambodian on Anaheim St.
