Age of Aquariums

Fish look healthy. Staff was not friendly. Good selection of salt water fish. Poor selection of fresh water fish. And prices where a little above usual. Asked if I could trade them larger fish for smaller one. A red tailed shark. I find the fish store in Lakewood much friendlier. Other store will spend time to help. There seemed to be rushed. Maybe because the owner was there. Had good selection of fish products. They are very large in business and going to your place and servicing aquariums do not know anything about that. Girl that helped us seemed very knowledgeable.

This place is absolutely awesome! They have the best selection of corals and fish. the staff is super friendly the first time i walked in there the girl named Kirsten greeted me and was extremely polite and friendly she did a great job helping me out and the rest of the staff was extremely knowledgeable as well and they are all very helpful. They carry really nice exotic corals and fish my kids loved going in there and every time i have been back they keep providing great exper service. my opinion they are top notch in these parts!

I’ve stopped by this place a handful of times. It’s a nice shop but some of the employees seem annoyed to answer your questions. They also don’t carry «A» quality peacock cichlids. I would not tell you to completely avoid this store as it has great salt water stuff but just be ready for some attitude from the girl.

This place is like a living, functioning aquarium in itself! They have all kinds of fish from tropical to exotic, accessories, tanks, even live coral. It’s literally an oceanic wonderland.
I love coming in here as the staff is friendly and really knowledgable. They’re happy to talk to you about every detail from beginning to end, even if you don’t make a purchase on every visit. Their passion is so obvious. The quality of their tanks is the best around.
The shop dog is adorable too!

So me and my bestfriend go into age of aquariums frequently today marks the day as my first horrible experience. I was asked if i needed assitance frkm a lady which is fine she seemed annoyed at first glance… we typically only get help with this younger guy whos pretty awesome when we go in… we asked questions and she continued to be annoyed and couldnt answer half of our questions and would just go back on her cell phone. One being how much was this abobaloni. She said they dont sell them but prior she said she i quote in the rudest way «i have dont know what your talking about.
While i was paying she asked if «we’ve been here before» and we replied with yes we come often normally leaving after spending $ 200 at a time. she quickly changed her tone and became slightly friendlier. .i don’t think I’ll come back as often
I only spent like $ 50 because i got tired of dealing with her and her disinterest.
I will be going to Strictly Fish and Petco… and now that i found a Petco that sells saltwater animals and frags… i would rather go there than age of aquariums.
At least a Strictly Fish if the person helping me doesnt know the answer… they would actually go and find someone else that knows.

Small shop but excellent quality fish and plants!

I needed a bulkhead and a valve. The guy new exactly what i was looking for, found me the right parts, and even hooked me up with some pvc to attach them. Really appreciated it. Was in and out!

My fish have recently gotten sick and I had no idea what was going on. I called into Age of aquariums and the guy was SUPER helpful. I told him the symptoms, he explained to me what was going on and why and what I should buy. I came into the store and he remembered me from the phone call. EXTREMELY helpful guy, I think his name was Brian (I hope I’m giving cred to the right person). Parasites were tackled within 3 days or so. Their prices are pretty good for the quality that you will get. They treat their fish with antibiotics regularly so everything in this store is thriving, healthy and beautiful. All of their freshwater fish are GORGEOUS and pretty well priced. These guys will help you through and through!

One of the best shops in long beach signal hill area. Found this LFS when i was in search for florescent bulbs for my old marineland system. The staff is bery knowledgeable and i mean you can ask any question about anything and youll get the answer you want plus more. They have a very nice selection of salt water aquariums and supply. The freshwater is gorgeous aswell and all tanks are well taken care of. I have purchased pumps filters fish and gravel and much more. They do have high end low end and $$$ items aswell. If your serious about aquatics this is the place to help novie and pro hobbyist. Price is perfect. If you want healthy fish well taken care of come here. Beware you will want to spend more money once you see how well there lighting is lol

Stop by here because I was in the area. Pretty impressive store. Kevin had a lot of knowledge and very helpful. I would buy from him if I’m ever in the area again.

i stopped by this shop while i was in the area and early for a meeting several months ago, i picked up a mag float and a couple pieces of dry rock. the owner was knowledgeable and helpful, the display tanks looked amazing! and they had a really great selection of fish and some nice fish like a borbonius anthias. i wouldnt call them cheap, but they know what they are doing. they also had a fairly good selection of corals, prices were good and i would say 95% of their corals were in great health. their dry rock was a great deal as well. also one of the largest selection of freshwater plants i have seen. i cant personally speak too much about their freshwater department as i am a salt fan, but i also saw a great selection of equipment and dry goods, but did not get to look at the prices for those.
Next time i am in the area and able to i would love to stop by this place every time im in the area just to see what they’ve got in.

This place is great. Large selection of salt water fish. I am new to the salt water hobby and had a lot of questions. They not only answered my questions but they also made some great recommendations. They even let me borrow a acclimation needle to acclimate my new fish. I definitely found my new home with this shop. Thanks again guys I look forward to purchasing my predators for my large tank.

Great place to look for affordable frags and corals. Good customer service but certain prices were good and some were not. Customer service was honest and I liked that about them. They said that most of their stuff was at the marine expo. Would have gotten a 4 star if I was compelled to buy something.

Well just after leaving the golden eagle a burger stand just around the corner I told my wife lets go check this place out. Me and my son have recently started up a fresh water tank for him with his betta in nice 5 gallon tank. We just added a few neon tetras, and I wanted to get some insight in this before i go any further. So I came here to see if these guys could help me out.
Upon walking into the door I was greeted by a fella named Kevin and he was very helpful in answering all my questions. As many have said there is a lot of salt water selections but not too much for fresh water selections. But Kevin was able to help me out to select the right kinds of food for our buddies home and to identify the right settings for our tank. This is a great store, I for sure will be back, thanks a lot guys for all the help.

A clean and beautiful shopping experience with staff members who know what they are doing and talking about. Well worth a trip down to Long Beach. Especially with the competitive prices for frags! Looking forward to going back again soon!

Over the last 10 years I have tried and shopped at probably 35 salt shops.
Until the last 4 years I have NEVER been satisfied. Expensive fish die hours to weeks after purchasing. One year I spent over 6K on corals and livestock. Before the end of the year all were gone.
Then I found Age Of Aquarium. My tank has never looked so good… and I have had the same 12 fish for 4 years. I havent lost one. Quality shop, knowledge and workers. Shout out to Kevin and Michael!
The owner is a great guy and very honest!!! I will never go to another salt shop again! Thanks for the beautiful tank… I do the work… but everything is from and because of you guys!!!

I’ve been to this store about 5 times now. It is primarily focused on saltwater setups and corals but does have a small freshwater section. Earlier this year it seemed they maintained the freshwater section better as when I went in today one of the large blood red parrots had one of its eyes gouged out. Other than that the other freshwater fish seemed healthy.
They do have a nice area for live plants at the front of the store and 3 large tanks anyone would love to look at. A 700 gal beautifully aquascaped community tank with discus, etc. A 250 gal saltwater tank with the largest puffer I’ve seen, about a foot and a half and a 350 gal coral reef tank right in the middle of the store.
If you are a saltwater enthusiast this is the place for you. If into freshwater be prepared to shell out some serious $$$ though as the prices are extremely high. For freshwater it’s nice to look around, but not going to find the variety you want here really. Staff is really knowledgeable and the tallest guy in there always helps me and my friend with questions and purchases.

Dan came to my house for a free estimate 15 minutes after I called. I needed them to setup my husband’s 125 gallon tank that hadn’t been running for over a year. After he determined what need to be done, he said they could come the next morning to have it setup. This was perfect because it was a surprise for my husband. I came into their store and they gave me an estimate on materials which totalled more than I wanted to spend. I gave him the amount I was willing to spend and they were more than happy to work within my budget.
Their specialist, Jose, came to set up the tank and he was prompt & professional. He put it together in no time and it looked beautiful! He also informed me on how to maintain it.
I am very pleased with their service and my husband loved it!

My dad and I were at an auto repair place nearby when I spotted the «Age of Aquariums» truck parked on the street. The word «aquarium» sparked interest in me and I told my dad to drive over because I HAD to look around.
This store is extremely well-​lit and organized beautifully. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by friendly employees who offered to help us in any way they could. I was happy to see that their tanks were nice and clean — not cloudy or filled with algae. Not a dead or sick fish to be seen — which was so refreshing to see at a fish store.
While the employees were nice and the store was basically spotless, it was 90% saltwater fish and aquarium setups, which just isn’t what I’m interested in or looking for. My boyfriend and I both have freshwater tanks and it was disappointing that they pretty much only had discus, koi, assorted african cichlids, and other typical cichlids (like blood parrot cichlids and convict cichlids). I wish they carried more interesting freshwater fish.
So despite the great customer service and the visual appeal of the store, this just isn’t the right kind of fish store for me. But its a nice stop for saltwater aquarium enthusiasts.

Excellent aquarium shop for your Amano aquatic needs! I talked to one of the managers, James (the freshwater planted tank expert.), and he informed me this place once was into building custom tanks and salt water only. Well, they’ve expanded over the years, so you need to check this shop out if you haven’t been here recently. I was really impressed with the aqua forest knowledge shared by James. He really answered all of my tough questions about plant nutrition, soil and gravel, lighting, etc.
This place may not be the cheapest, but they are definitely reasonably priced for the plants that they carry in stock. They have an impressive selection of some rare and common salt and freshwater fish. It’s worth it just to check out the freshwater tank set ups. I’ll be back!
