Terrible customer service! I called at 7am and asked what time they opened, being all the way from San Francisco we didn’t want any hiccups since this was our only day to canoe. He told me 8am but boats isn’t go into the water until 1:30p. So we hiked and went to lunch first. We arrived at 2p and it was CLOSED! I called the number and he said he was taking boats out and he was VERY rude. I asked who I might call to get us a canoe and he referred me to another company that was out of business! Luckily we found a super nice lady that put us in and was really helpful. Her business is Sharp’s Canoe & Kayak rental, her # 409−385−6241. She doesn’t have a website but she’s 10x the person this guy is!

Eastex Canoe is pretty convenient for last minute canoe trips since they are one of the few places that offer a shorter 4 mile trip. It is more expensive than other local canoe places, since they charge per person instead of by canoe. Everyone is very friendly, and if you fail to plan ahead they have everything from sunscreen, cup holders and padded seats, to water canons & girl scout cookies at the rental desk.
