went there on a Friday… Closed…space is for lease… they did have good dimsum…

This place was absolutely horrible. Their food was disguisting and their service was crap. I went there for the lunch buffet(it was a co-workers birthday) and at first glance the food looked good(even though there were no signs on what is what). I got a few of their chicken dishes which turned out to be gross. I took a bite out of one of the chicken dishes and it had a horrible fishy taste and I actually pulled a piece of shrimp shell out of my mouth! GROSS!!! What if I was allergic? The food was so bland that I requested hot pepper from the server 5 — 6 times without any luck. I was so annoyed — I could’ve yelled at him but I held my composure as I was with coworkers. Overall — it was disguisting, tasteless and bad service. How could I forget — horribly overpriced! I would definitely NOT recommend this lunch buffet to anyone else.

Apparently 2 months ago they stopped serving dim sum, which is why my family would make the occasional trek out here. Since we were there and felt bad about just turning around, we ordered the 3 dishes 1 soup meal. Super salty or heavy on the MSG. I wasn’t even done when I got a headache. I was so woozy that my rice fell to the floor.

This is a good neighborhood Chinese restaurant(and within walking distance to my apartment, yay!). I’ve had food from here twice, and both times it was very tasty. I haven’t yet had the dim sum, but a friend of mine gives it rave reviews, so I’m planning on sampling that soon. The shrimp fried rice is the best I’ve had in this area. I’ve had it at two other places, and while it was ok, it didn’t really satisfy my craving. I also recommend the spare ribs, the egg rolls, and the General Tso’s chicken. The General Tso’s chicken can be made with all white meat(which is white I like), and comes with a decent serving of broccoli and white rice. All in all, it’s good Americanized Chinese food, but it also offers non-Americanized dishes for traditionalists. Delivery took less than 20 minutes, and when I went there to eat, the food was very quick. I’m a fan!

FYI, Asian Delight is now on Grubhub, which enables you to pay online and earn credits for future orders. We’ve ordered from Asian Delight multiple times now and the food is always delivered as ordered and in less time than the estimate. The General Tsos chicken is good and the shrimp fried rice is delicious.

I came back here with my partner and again was very pleased with the dim sum. So YAY for consistency, now I’m pretty sure this is a place I’d come back to. Let me tell you a few reasons why… First, the dim sum is good. You can tell it doesn’t have as much MSG as some other places. So of course, the food isn’t as flavorful as some other places might be, but I liked that some dishes were more bland and lighter in taste. I actually prefer being able to taste the natural flavors versus all seasoning. Second, you’re in quick. And seated immediately, I never really have to wait too long to get seated. Third, they actually have good service. They are prompt and get you what you want immediately. No need to wait and stare down the carts as they pass your table, and when finally return have nothing left. They pay attention to who has been taken care of, and who hasn’t. Fourth, Parking is a breeze. Even when it’s full, we always find something. That’s enough reason to keep me coming back for dim sum. I don’t know if I would come here for dinner, just because I have my specific favorites that I like to go to when I actually find time to go out to eat. But for dim sum, definitely on my list of go to!

Asian Delight is amazingly cheap and good, but I can only comment on the dim sum. In regards to the dim sum menu, in contrast to most of the places I’ve been, it seems like the majority of Asian Delight’s menu is priced at the«small dish» level, at about $ 3 a dish. That’s incredible. The shumai were generously sized and very well seasoned. Another stand-out item was this steamed dumpling with pork, scallions, wood-ear and shrimp in a bean curd wrapper — I couldn’t find it listed on the menu, but it was amazing. Their sesame balls with lotus paste were also another highlight, as they came out fresh and not overly greasy. Considering it was prime dim sum time, I was surprised at the lack of a wait — we were seated as soon as we walked in the door. My only complaints are that they only had about two carts going around at any given time, so there was a bit of a wait for each dish, and the menu is a bit limited. I managed to most of the dishes I usually order, and they were all quite good. I definitely recommend this place if you’re in the Silver Spring area.

Have come here twice for dinner since my dad is friends with the people here. The food have been good both times. Nothing really stood out to me about this place but food and service have always been good. We’ve never ordered the«America Chinese» food so I can’t comment on that which is what alot of the negative reviews seem to be about. Order real Chinese food, folks. That other stuff is just American food sold in a Chinese restaurant. We’ve always been well-cared for by the staff but that may be because we always bring a large group with us each time or because of my dad. Our dirty plates are always cleared and replaced with clean plates, tea pots refilled, etc.

This little restaurant has really great dim sum! The stuffed crêpe noodles were so silky and fresh! They have steamed turnip cake which I haven’t found at any other dim sum restaurant in the DMV. The waitresses/waiters filled our water glasses several times during our meal without us having to wave someone down. If you have ever experienced other dim sum restaurants, you will understand the miracle in this event. Also, the tea was refilled quickly when requested with an open lid. For now, the restaurant is offering one low price of $ 2.95 for all the dishes over the weekend. There were a few specialty items that still cost $ 6.95 but it was fine. We had a large party and they seated us immediately. This place is worth a visit!

Eh… I didn’t find anything delightful here. Service was lacking and the food was alright. Not a chance that I’ll come back here for dim sum again. Got here when they opened at 11am on a Sunday. There were only a couple other diners in the restaurant. We got seated all the way in the corner at a 4 top, which I thought they would save for well, a table of 4(tons of 2 seaters available). Whatever… more room for my food. WRONG. When the carts of dim sum items started coming out, we always got passed up. I had to flail my arms in the air in order to get some attention from the ladies pushing the carts. Not cool, especially since no one was really there yet. Compared to other dim sum restaurants I’ve eaten at, the variety here is seriously lacking. Only 4 different carts came around the hour that we were there. The little tally sheet showed dim sum items ranging from $ 2.95-$ 7.95, but only items that cost $ 2.95 came out. Maybe you had to order them off the menu? We ordered the shrimp dumplings, pork shumai, some minced beef item that was deep fried, and egg custard buns. They were alright, but nothing that sets them apart from other Chinese restaurants that offer dim sum. I enjoyed the shrimp dumplings and egg custard buns the best. The restaurant is somewhat small. Service sucks butt. Would I come back? Not a chance. I left unsatisfied. Head to Silver Fountain if you are in the mood for dim sum. If you do come here, don’t let them sit you in the corner… you’ll probably get ignored.

Disappointed! Granted we got carry out and were not there for fresh weekend dim sum(which sounds better), but Kung Pao Tofu was flavorless, Crispy Beef was too chewy and blah, Spring Rolls tasted like chemicals and fortune cookies were inedible. Saving grace was mediocre General Tso Chicken. MAJORBUMMER ;(

Great place for pretty good dim sum. Almost every dim sum item qualifies as a «small plate» — $ 3 — which, for MoCo, is pretty cheap dim sum fare. Plus the portions are bigger than at other MoCo establishments, and the selection is comparable. However, for some items that you would see on a dim sum cart elsewhere, like chow fun, you have to order from the kitchen instead. The ladies pushing the carts are connivingly good at pushing their goods on you, too. Imagine your mother/grandmother squawking«eat more! eat more!» at you. Yes, ma’am.

My Asian friend brought me here at Asian Delight. I do not love Chinese food. But when i taste some on their menu, i just thought, i should have tried it first. The food servings are great. Their waiters and crews are very friendly. :) The only one that tickled my taste buds are the Fried Pork chop. I will go back here again. :)

Jon– Not too shabby for the DMV.. . Pining for home and hearth, my friends and I decided to trek it out to Silver Spring to get our dim sum fix. I didn’t have high expectations, but Asian Delight actually did a fair job.… The place is small, but the waiters are attired as they should be in genuine Chinese restaurants– black slacks, grubby white dress shirt, too-short black tie. I was afraid that there weren’t enough carts, but I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to assemble haw gao, shu mai, loh-mai gai, cha siu bao, and lean pork and thousand-year old egg congee within five minutes. Verdict? Not bad. Haw gao(shrimp dumplings) have been my favorite since I was a wee lad and you can usually tell the quality of a place by its haw gao. Asian Delight passed the test on this one. We piled on with gusto– two more orders of that, some egg custard, fong zhao(chicken feet), some eggplant thing, shrimp balls, and meatballs. Finished off with dofu fa(sweet tofu dessert). I was impressed with the selection and the quality. I can’t give it more than three though, because this place was a good deal more expensive than places in NYC and LA, the quality was still only middlin’ good by comparison.. . but we’re coming here when I need a dim sum fix.

Lo and behold, a week later, I found myself back at Asian Delight(not my choice). My previous visit, documented in my original review, was a disappointment; and, I hoped that this go-round would be better. Sadly, it was even worse this time. I had said that«nothing really zips and soars» there and that the food«is bashful rather than bold» and that the flavors are«flat and weak.» Well, I steadfastly stand by that assessment. We dined on lobster again(one prepared Cantonese style with the ubiquitous corn starch gravy mixed with bits of pork and one prepared ginger/scallion style). Really, I couldn’t tell the difference between the two styles. Both were bland. Again, it was like eating plain steamed lobster. We also had fried tofu stuffed with shrimp paste. The tofu had been lightly dusted with corn starch. This had the effect of creating a crispy, slightly cloudy outer layer to the tofu(but, which easily came detached). It seemed like an odd way to fry tofu, frankly. To try and«batter» tofu is misguided because nothing dry can really adhere to tofu. The tofu itself was totally bland(even beyond the neutrality that is tofu’s essence). I had to sprinkle a bit of salt on the tofu just to make it seem like something… so that I wasn’t just biting into nothing. An accompanying sauce looked like a mix of corn starch and a bit of oyster sauce. It was flavorless and inconsequential. There were other undistinguished moments. Our set meal concluded with a batch of «longevity noodles»(called yi mein or e-fu noodles). They had been boiled too much before being stir fried and were on the mushy side. Also, the noodles seemed to be excessively chopped up and cut into short bits rather than served in long strands. Overall, the heaping pile of noodles were overwhelmingly plain without a hint of wok flavor or seasoning of any sort. Wow… it was bad. I could not eat it. An order of Young Chow fried rice closed out the night. Like the noodles that preceded it, the fried rice was bland and tasteless. There was strips of lettuce mixed in with a smattering of baby shrimp. Nothing tasted of anything. The tongue could feel the food but not taste it. Imagine that sensation. There was one redeeming dish, however. Their take on Kingdom pork chops was more than passable. It seemed leaner than most other versions of it and lacked bones. I couldn’t figure out if that was a good characteristic or not. In the end, the pork chops were good(but, nothing tremendous). Certainly, the pork chops did not salvage the whole evening’s meal.

I really enjoyed our dinner at Asian Delight. I used my Palm Pre’s Unilocal application to find restaurants in the area and just chose whatever looked like it had the best, most reliable reviews. So, I guess it’s as close to «on a lark» as we can get, and it really paid off. The four of us went in on a Saturday night at around 5 pm. It was empty, and we were too late for their dim sum. We decided to have dinner anyways. We each ordered our own dish. They were very large and obviously meant for sharing; I suspect two to three could share if that’s all they had, and four to six could share if they had a couple other dishes, too. I ordered the Roast Duck and Noodle soup. Delicious! My boyfriend ordered the Triple Delight Pan Fried Noodles. My friends ordered the Crispy Beef and the Pad Thai. Two of the dishes had special requests(no shrimp in the Triple Delight and only tofu in the Pad Thai), which were handled graciously and accurately. The food was wonderful, had an authentic flair, and reminded me of Taipei. I can’t think of higher praise. The wait staff was friendly, accommodating, attentive, and polite. The prices were incredibly reasonable. For four entrees plus a soda(the rest of us had hot tea), it came out to $ 52, including tax. The restaurant was clean, had great décor, and was all around a relaxing, fun environment. They didn’t even mind when we got a bit loud(as our dining experience tends to become; hey, we laugh a lot!). All in all, the only thing I was sad about was that they didn’t have more people. I want them to be successful, so please, go visit so that they’ll be there when I want to go there next. ;)

Let’s make a deal here. I’ll give you the low-down on this delightful Asian place, and you agree that you’ll only tell two friends about it, and they’ll agree to only tell one person each. Then, the restaurant will get some healthy business, but not so much that I can’t get a seat for dim sum. Deal? Great. Five of us ended up, serendipitously, at Asian Delight after originally stopping at Oriental East for some dim sum last Sunday. You see, the line for dim sum at Oriental East is craziness. I haven’t eaten there yet, but I can already tell you it’s not worth the wait, because Asian Delight is splendid and there is no line at all. We ate a wide assortment of dim sum, most picked off the frequently passing carts, but a few ordered from attentive servers. Everything was fresh and delicious and – unbelievably – all the dim sum items are only $ 2.95 each. We all ate(more than) our fill and the bill was $ 10 each! Everything was good, including: steamed shrimp dumpling, steamed pork dumpling(like a meatball in a wrapper), taro dumpling, rice noodle roll with shrimp, sesame balls, daikon cake, douhua(tofu flower), char siu bao(BBQ pork buns), and more. The service is attentive and smiling, and the carts pass frequently and were always filled with fresh items. The manager is friendly and a jokester. He said to me when I stepped into the restaurant to meet my friends, who were already seated, «Oh, white boy, this must be your table over here.»(Doesn’t take a rocket scientist. I looked out of place. :) So, why five stars? Quality: Good. Service: Good, even great, when compared to similar Chinese spots. Prices: Surprisingly low. Wait: None. At least, there used to be no wait… Don’t tell too many people! You promised.

This past Sunday(8⁄8) was the 2nd time I’ve gone to this place. This was requested by my in-laws so I had to oblige. They thought the food was pretty good the first time we went. So we ordered the following: Lobster HK style Chinese watercress(on-choy) with garlic A soft tofu dish with shrimp gravy on top(swear it was egg whites instead of tofu) Peking duck Deep fried pork chops Minced chicken and salted fish with chives Spicy stir fried pork blood, intestines, and preserved mustard green Let’s start with the good first. All the dishes were very authentic and much less oily compared most of the other Chinese restaurants as noted by my mother-in-law. I totally agreed since I didn’t have to down glasses of water like I normally do. I liked the on-choy the least on the list. It felt a little old with very large stems. It was still a good dish though. The food gets a 5 star. Now the bad. Like the first time we went, the service was so so again. When we arrived at 6:30ish, there was only one table. It took them twice back and forth before they got our orders. I asked for a booster seat twice before the got me one. The guy simply forgot about it. We waited about 20 minutes for our first two dishes. The other dishes came randomly within the next 25 minutes. With two people at the table before us, I just don’t understand what the holdup was. This is definitely 2 star service. With that being said, I’ll definitely go back again. With Chinese restaurants, it’s more about the food and the food here is fantastic Cantonese food. Owners, managers, and wait staff just don’t seem to understand good service. This comment applies to all the Chinese restaurants in the Wheaton/Silver Spring area as well.

I get dim sum here very often. Food is always awesome and the staff is excellent. There’s a big variety of food and everything tastes fresh! I also had my wedding reception here. Everyone loved the food! The place was newly renovated so the interior looks awesome. Loved everything! I highly recommend the walnut shrimp!

This place opened in April, and it was recommended by a friend. The set menus tend to be the best deals, and we ordered the 8-person set. I posted pictures of our meal(although we added some other dishes as well). Dishes in the 8 person set included(if I remember correctly): — Cold platter — with pork, beef, jellyfish and(I think) squid — Pork — Chicken with ginger sauce — Ask them to remove the head if you’re squeamish. The head shows its freshness ;) — Beef — Chinese vegetables — Lobster — Steamed fish(tilapia?) — Conch and squid with snowpeas(?) — Red bean dessert The service was very good– extremely accommodating. I hear they have several karaōke rooms. Now on the other hand– — The price point may be a bit higher than the«rock bottom» Chinese takeout places. — I haven’t heard great things about the dimsum yet, but maybe it’ll get better since they’re new.
