Creative Colony

I searched for a neat, tidy, easily accessible co-​working space with a swift internet connection. I hoped for a nice staff, a clean setting with good light, and perhaps a tasty tea selection. Creative Colony delivered on all fronts, at a rate lower than WeWork in Bethesda, for a series of after-​hours web video broadcasts that I produced from the site’s conference room. With a personal touch and professional approach, the team made it work exactly as I’d hoped they could. (Extra points for the spicy ginger tea.)

Better than Starbucks, way better than the library and infinitely better than my kitchen table. Great place if you are job hunting and need a home away from home and a place to concentrate on work and think without distractions. Sunny beautiful space, always enough room to spread out. They have flexible pricing plan depending on how often you would like to use the space. I visited other co working spaces in DC and MD and decided on this one because the vibe was really relaxed and quiet.

I shopped around for a co-​working space and Creative Colony is as good as it gets in the downtown Silver Spring area – flexible rates, a beautiful workspace and view, excellent amenities, and friendly and respectful co-​co-​workers. It’s a dream.

I use the space when I need to be in and around Silver Spring. It is a great location, very well run, and has a real community feeling. The staff, co-​workers, and surroundings are all big benefits. Parking is easy, food choices in the area are excellent, and wifi seems fast.

We rented out the conference space for a team meeting on a Saturday for 4 hours. It was a great space and a great price for the amenities.
We tried to find space elsewhere but most executive office spaces are closed on the weekends, leaving only conference space at hotels available. Most of those spaces in hotels tend to be pretty dark spaces, often partitioned from a full ballroom and no windows. This space had the advantage of having a big window all along one wall. (Windows turn out to be crucial when doing a 4 hour meeting; it can get pretty dark and dismal otherwise.)
Also, AV equipment and a board were included, which is a bonus. The furniture was set up conference style (what we wanted) but can the moved around (it’s all on wheels) into other positions.

I love working at Creative Colony because it really makes me feel like a part of the Silver Spring community. There is always something going on from happy hours to the Creative Boost morning lecture series to volunteer opportunities to wellness activities like yoga and acupuncture. It is definitely an environment that encourages growth.
I also love the location in the World Building with the beautiful large-​window views of Silver Spring, being close to the metro and being near so many fantastic local businesses like Paccis, Kaldis, Zed’s and Big Greek Café. Kefa Café and the Pennyworth Thrift Shop are a short walk away and make for the perfect lunch break! No problem to walk to the central traditional downtown area either for a blast of energy.
The community manager, Tiffany, makes it so easy to get to know the space and feel welcomed so I definitely recommend giving coworking here a try at the very least!

My favorite part about Creative Colony is that they give me access to everything I need as a business owner, all under one roof. I can print out copies for presentations, network with other professionals, get access to free wi-​fi, use the conference room for team meetings and events, and sip some really good free coffee.
The value for my dollar is remarkable, which is why I keep coming back. This is more than just a place to get my work done. It is a place to build relationships and grow my business.
I especially enjoy the office activities like happy hour, group yoga, etc. Often when you work solo, or run a business you are isolated. These events help keep everyone connected.

Creative Colony is a co-​working space meant for «creative» professionals that are looking for good company.
And good company is what you’ll find. Their current space is in the Westfield Wheaton South building right outside of Wheaton mall. A small office that sits on the top level with desks for 4 and a large table for anyone who wants to come for co working space. The internet is fast and reliable.
Shala is the founder and works in an office right next door. Tiffany, Ryan, Michael, and Christy are the wonderful co-​workers that fill the desks in this petite space. They are all friendly, ambitious, and courteous young professionals that respect the fact that you are there to work, but also the fact that you are there for good company.
In March Creative Colony moves to the World Building in Silver Spring where they will host a larger space for professionals like myself. Custom phone booths are being built for private phone calls. Office space will be rented at different levels based on need. Conference space will be available as well. All too nurture young creative collaboration.
I can’t wait to see the new space and continue to utilize this niche service that the young professionals are finding more and more useful.
