Slow down Dr. Ellis! She always spoke quickly and was a poor listener but now that she has an iPad her communication is even worse. As I answer the questions she asks she taps away on the iPad and you have no way of knowing if she is listening or what she is doing. Twice she had been sending an automated prescription without asking me exactly what I needed. I wanted a 90-day supply but she ordered a 30-day supply. I wanted mail-order, but she sent it to a local pharmacy. I had to do a LOT of research to find the date and results of my colonoscopy that she ordered in 2006 because she could not find that information. So I expected that to be in my records the next time I saw her and yet she asked again when I am due for a 2nd colonoscopy because she still has no record of the first one. Most egregious was the time she entered the exam room and before even saying Hello she barked«you’ve gained a LOT of weight.». I have been going to her for over 12 years– she knows I have an eating disorder. I found this to be unhelpful, hurtful, and poor judgement on her part.

Dr. Ellis is a wonderful service provider. She is a very caring doctor who takes time to really get to know her patients. I mentioned that I planned to have children with my husband at one of my annual visits. I ended up becoming pregnant and having our child before my next appointment with Dr. Ellis. It was so sweet and reassuring that she asked me how our conception was going as her first question! Her being able to remember something so small(but so big to me) is the reason why I continue to see her. I have been double billed and I could not understand the logic behind it, but a quick scan of my explanation of benefits and a call to the billing department quickly corrected the problem. With any medical office you can have a long wait, billing errors, or problems, but it is extremely hard to find a doctor who cares.

I visited this doctor’s office for the first time in the hopes of getting a simple physical. My appointment was for 1:20pm and I arrived around 1pm to fill out the first time paperwork. When I signed in I was told that the doctor was running a little bit behind, but was not told that she was almost an HOUR behind. At 1:50, I was still sitting in the waiting room and when I inquired about how much longer I was told it would be another 30 minutes. I am a working professional and planned to take an extended lunch to fit in a doctor’s appointment like I’m sure many people do. I find it ridiculous that I was supposed to WAIT for an hour just to see the doctor and then spend probably another 30 minutes with the doctor, making my total time there nearly 2 hours. I don’t know many people who have time for that and I found it to be super disrespectful and a total lack of consideration for my time. The receptionist was not at all friendly or kind when I was clearly frustrated and didn’t offer any help. Needless to say this was a terrible experience, I would not recommend this office to anyone and I will not be going back.

Ah, I forgot one thing that is actually annoying(I was reminded of it when my husband went for his first visit last week) — so when you go for a new patient visit, you pay your co-pay(ours is $ 25) and you meet Dr. Ellis and chat — she asks you how your health is, what you’re worried about, and she gives you a slip to go to the lab to get your blood work done. I like that she takes the time to ask you questions about your health, and I like that it feels like she’s interested in getting to know you. But… Then you come back for a next visit(when you again pay your co-pay — so now you’ve dropped $ 50 on two visits but one of those visits was a 10 minute chat) where you actually get your blood results, and she does the exam. It feels a little weird to pay $ 25 for that first talking visit when really, all that’s happening is that you’re meeting the Doctor. That said, I do appreciate that Dr. Ellis actually takes time to ask you questions(what do you eat? Are you planning to get pregnant? Do you get bad headaches?) — she never seems like she’s in a rush, and I get the sense that she’s actually listening to my answers.
