hubby and i met up with a couple of my friends and their 2 kids for dinner here and we totally lucked out b/c it wasn’t crowded at all! in fact, we were one of 3 or 4 parties there on this monday evening, so there was no wait for a table, and service was generally fast and prompt. since i ate way too many goodies(read sugar and sweets) over christmas, i wanted to be healthy, so i only ordered a village salad($ 9.95) which consisted of tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, green peppers, spring onions, feta cheese and kalamata olives, with dressing on the side, of course. they also added anchovies to this salad, which wasn’t listed on the menu, but i wasn’t opposed to since it would give me a little bit of protein. the salad was pretty standard in size and taste, but the anchovies were super salty! for someone who already doesn’t like salted food, this was a bit too much for me to take! my husband ordered the trio Platter($ 16.95) which was a combination of gyro, pork and chicken souvlaki served with greek salad, french fries, pita bread and tzatziki sauce. i had his chicken skewer which was tender and well-seasoned without being overly salty. i also had some of his pita bread which was soft and chewy, just the way i like my pita prepared! my friend had ordered the tilapia, but the chef goofed and prepared a salmon for her instead. the waitress apologized and asked if the salmon was ok, to which my friend nodded yes. the waitress also said that she’d make up for the error by bringing us a dessert or something at the end of the meal. we never saw this dessert, but fortunately for my friend, she enjoyed her salmon filet. considering the fact that it was not a busy night, i am docking an extra star for the mistake on my friend’s entrée. but otherwise, i thought the food was pretty solid and the ambiance appropriate for a party of 6 which included 2 little ones.

I’ve never had better gyro meat! It was flavorful and you barely need to chew. I would highly recommend you come here for the authentic gyro. Also the servers and owner were very friendly! I would come back again.

We ordered appetizers, desert and coffee. Everything was very fresh and tasty. We will definitely return. Great wait staff. Clean and newer interior. In response to other Unilocalers criticism, when we arrived it was quiet, almost empty with just a few tables full, and we were looking around wondering if we should just seat ourselves. It took several minutes before anyone came out of the kitchen and we were told to sit anywhere and the waitress would come back for us which is exactly what happened. Once we had her attention we had her full attention as well as the waiters’. The owner was eventually pointed out and he was sitting chatting at a table. All in all I would say except for the lack of a hostess, that the wait staff is very good and we had a very good, friendly and laid back experience — maybe that’s how it goes in Greece?

The food is excellent. I ordered the gyro platter and the stuffed eggplant. With the platter, they were able to accommodate my needs by substituting fries with more salad. The flavor in the stuffed eggplant was great and the gyro meat tasted soooo good. Also, the server was very nice. I am definitely ordering from them again. I’m a tough customer, and I’m thoroughly pleased with this place.

Okay! So… I’ve read some of the reviews and now that somebody said something, I actually recall being semi ignored coming through the door with my bf; we didn’t care, we just sat ourselves. Must be used to not being busy so they let customers sit. The word that this is an old people hangout is funny because I can appreciate eating in a quiet restaurant for a change. This was my first visit to a Greek restaurant so in fairness I don’t have anything substantial to compare their food to. I did indeed love the chicken platter I ordered. Chicken was perfect and the yogurt dip it came with made me want to cook a Greek meal myself. It came with pitas that were okay. The little side salad was delicious! I guess it was a traditional Greek salad with Greek dressing. Once again, I know nothing of Greek food, but my meal also came with french fries? Lol, I can’t complain, they went awesome with my food. I’d come back if I were in the area. One thing that got me was the weird paper table covers. It was like poster paper and it didn’t sit on the table like a tablecloth. Idk I was confused by it; gotta paper cut from it which sucked.

I’ve heard the other items on the menu aren’t too great ! But I have to say I’m not a gyro fan but this gyro platter is really yummy ! It’s a huge portion and the meat is good quality ! Really enjoyed it! If u love gyros u must come here and try it, ignore the bad reviews, sometimes some places have one thing that is the absolute best! It’s one of those places

Excellent authentic Greek in Silver Spring. A great find and not overpriced. I really like Greek food and it is not easy to find authentic gyros cooked on the rotisserie oven. But it is here along with great souvlaki, saganaki, and stuffed eggplant. Owner George is very pleasant and accommodating and so is the wait staff. The place is good sized with many tables that seat 6 so it is good for groups. We had a variety of items including the saganaki, stuffed eggplant, London broil, and a combination platter. The portions are quite generous. Everything prepared to order so it may take a few minutes more than expected but worth the wait.

My experience here was not very good. Atmosphere is pleasant but a bit corny. Service was not very good. At one point there were 12 tables with diners and no wait staff, none to be seen. Zero. This went on for some time. Our waiter finally returned through front door, presumably he was out smoking while we wanted service. My souvlacki was dry bits of hardened pork with made from frozen French fries. My wife’s filet kabob was OK but came with a mound of rice with some sort of brown colored sauce. Bland and unappealing. $ 24 for that! She did not eat it but for a taste. We will not return. Baklava was delicious as another reviewer mentioned. One extra star for that.

I come to this restaurant frequently. Food is great, plenty seating and plenty parking. My favorite is their buffet on Sundays!

Found egg shells in my spanakopita. This is the same day I saw a roach crawl under one of the tables when I was picking up the food. I will NEVER eat here again.

Slightly better than a 3. Pleasant dining atmosphere, located in a boring suburban strip shopping center in the outskirts of Silver Spring. It looked like there were a few tables of regular customers, and the owner spent his time socializing with them; it wasn’t particularly busy, so it would have been nice if he swung by our table to say ‘hi’, but whatever. The waitress was friendly, and the gyro was decently prepared. Slightly pricey for a pita sandwich with fries, but not outrageously so. I’ve had better, but this Sunday lunch was fine, if not particularly exciting. I’d still rather patronize local eatieries like this than waste my money on fast food.

Lousy service, I hate waiting and being ignored. I left. They are racist because I don’t believe white customers are ignored.

I’m a HUGE fan of Greek food, especially gyro’s done right. While I am a huge fan of Greek food, I’m an even huger fan of good customer service. I had eaten at the Greek Village a couple of times, and I later saw that they had a Sunday brunch buffet available. Well this was something that I really wanted to partake in, and I managed to convince some friends to go with me on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately they had already eaten, so it looked like it was going to be just me taking part in the buffet. Before being seated, we asked the host if that would be an issue. My friends intended on ordering something small from the menu, and I would get the brunch. The host informed us that this would be fine. As we were enjoying our meal, an older gentleman who was a manager or owner, came to our table and started yelling at us about how much the brunch was going to cost. We were EXTREMELY taken aback at this, as we(I thought at least) were OK according to the host. Looking back, I think the manager thought that I was sharing the brunch food with my friends. However, if they thought that, it certainly could have been handled better than yelling at your patrons eating in the restaurant. Usually after an incident like this, that would be immediate grounds for a one-star review, but I’m bumping it up a star because the food is really good. Especially their gyro’s. Just avoid the brunch buffet I guess.

Alas, the high points of my meal were the jokes about the Greek beer, which is unfortunately named Vergina: .(«I need more Vergina!» «Can I get in on your Vergina?» «Somebody get him some Vergina.» «This Vergina’s a little on the sour side, am I right?») I was here for a retirement lunch party for a couple teachers I used to work with, and we all paid $ 40 to the party planning committee(think The Office) for the meal. Quite frankly, I’m hoping they were skimming some off the top, because there’s no way this meal was worth that much. I was pretty shocked that the Verginas weren’t even included. Price aside, since I’m not positive that was all going to the restaurant, the food was on the lame side. Both the salmon and chicken options looked and tasted like something served in a really nice cafeteria or a faux-fancy chain restaurant, right down to the limp, flavorless head of broccoli and slice of carrot — identical garnishes on both plates.(Behold: the salmon — , and the chicken — ) So, yeah, probably won’t be back. And word to the fellas, probably don’t take your lady here if you’re looking to get some Vergina. I mean vergina. I mean — well you know what I mean.

I’ve been here twice — most recently was last night. First off, the place. It’s almost always empty. I feel like most of the patrons are regulars who have been coming here for years. Nothing wrong with a steady customer, though. I just wonder how they manage to keep the place open — «he does a lot of take-out», my friend said helpfully. I honestly don’t eat Greek food, but I certainly don’t mind it. I got the lemon-something chicken one time and the chicken kabob the second time. I can’t compare it to anything else simply because I haven’t tried any other Greek place. Last night, my party seemed less-than satisfied with their food — we didn’t ask for boxes(except for 1 of us) and when one of the staff came to clear the table, his face was pretty much this: Anyway. As one other person noted, the prices aren’t what you expect at a restaurant in a location like this — shopping center, not a standalone building. However, the portions are pretty damn big. You could eat half of a plate to a reasonable amount of fullness and bring the other half home. Not bad for $ 15-$ 20 dishes.

This is one of those restaurants where the median age of the patrons are in their mid-50s and they have a set routine where some day of the week, they go to Greek Village for a meal. I’ve been to a greek place in Reston that’s family run, and the staff makes you feel welcome and valued. Here it’s like they go through the motions, but their heart isn’t in it anymore. We feel out of place as the youngest patrons there, and for some reason feel under dressed. Our young waitress looks like she’s in high school but moves and thinks like someone three times her age. The food was okay, the portions were decent, but the prices are not what you expect of a strip mall restaurant.(Later on, my brother and sister had to hunker down in the restrooms at Target…) Anyway, the main reason for our less than stellar meal was the check. My sister and I were splitting the bill for dinner. She gives our young waitress her debit card. It was declined. My sister is flipping out because she thinks someone stole her debit card number and she has no money in the bank. So I pay for the rest of the tab with my debit card. We’re driving to Target and she calls the bank while we’re filling up on gas. The helpful agent at the bank told her that there was no problem with her account at all. Our server had entered her debit card number incorrectly, and that’s why it was declined. Meanwhile, I’m secretly flipping out because I’m checking my bank account online through my sister’s iPhone and it looks like I was charged for my half of the bill, and was charged again for the entire check. I was wondering how I would convince the restaurant on how to give me a refund, as I only received a copy of one of the receipts. But after a few days, the first transaction was dropped, much to my relief. I don’t think we will come back again as you should never feel that stressed after a meal.

Came here at an odd time of 4 pm– not exactly lunch but not exactly dinner. Not surprisingly my friend and I were the only ones in the entire restaurant at this time. My vegetarian friend got the eggplant parmesan and didn’t like it at all. The portion was pretty small for the $ 14 price although the salad that came beforehand was pretty big. It’s cheaper and SOMUCHBETTER at an Italian restaurant. That was a huge mistake. I got the pork soulaki platter. The pita bread that came with it was barely warm and really stale. The salad was good. The fries were ok. The pork was overdone but just ok. Really wish the pita could’ve been fluffy and warm… The service was just whatever– it looked like the kid was more interested in the soccer game on tv in the corner. I tend to think everything is a 3 or 4 star place but the food left a lot to be desired. Not something I’d try again.
