I went with an open mind to have braid put in. While the service was great, the quality of the work was not. I’ve had braids put in that have lasted 6 weeks or more. I returned the following day with extremely loose braid; they were replaced with no question or problems. It has been 3 weeks and the braids that I went in to have fixed have fallen out and a few more are on their way out. With the price of the service and hair, I expected more than what I got.

Honestly, I went in with a positive attitude but the whole experience was very disappointing. I went in for a simple shampoo & cut, but ended up being there for over and hour. The shampoo was fine, but then I sat in the chair waiting for my stylist to arrive for 30 min. She arrived LATE by 30 and then proceeded to talk to other people and on her cell phone while cutting my hair. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a salon!!!

IF I COULDGIVENOSTARS I WOULD. I AMNOTWRITINGOUTOFEMOTION, I AMWRITINGTHISBECAUSEPROFESSIONALISMISVERYIMPORTANT!!! It is ACTUALLY disappointing that I have to give them such a CRAPPY review because at our first appointment I was THOROUGHLY impressed!!! Two weeks ago I randomly walked into this salon at a high recommendation from a friend. She told me to go to her particular stylist because she was good! Which she was. It was my 3 year olds first time at a salon and she was super excited. She did VERYWELL for her first time. People were commenting at how well she did. The SAMEDAY I made an appt for today because I was THAT impressed! We are supposed to go on vacation INTHEMORNING and I wanted a really cute low maintenance style for my dtr. I arrive at the salon today and NOONE has seen the stylist. They call her and tell her that her«6:30 appt was here and was she on her way». I hear through the phone that she has NOIDEAWEAREBOOKEDEVENTHOUGHWEAREINHERAPPTBOOK!!! They hand me the phone and she nonchalantly says«I definitely won’t be there… maybe we can find someone else to do it» NO! THATAINTGONNAWORKBOOBOOKITTY!!! I MADEMYAPPTWITHYOU! The salon workers see how ABSOLUTELYLIVID I am because our trip is tomorrow and I knew how I wanted my child’s hair to be!!! I begin calling other salons to get a quick appt. All of the other salons are beginning to close. I informed Hair Beyond that WEWILLNEVERRETURNTOSUCHANUNPROFESSIONALESTABLISHMENTWHICHISDISAPPOINTINGBECAUSE I WASVERYIMPRESSED. Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

Great salon Jill puts it down. She does weave excellent. Prices are kinda up there but the work is worth it.

I am a former patron and I will tell you why: every single stylist especially Jill and Angie are unprofessional. Now don’t get me wrong they do great hair, with their specialty being weaves, but you will wait for it… and wait… and wait… and wait some more. It does not matter when your appointment is, you will not make it out of this shop no matter what the style is in less than 4 hours(allow six hours for weaves) and you want to know why? THEYBOOKMULTIPLEPEOPLEFOREACHTIMESLOT. It is outrageous how long they make you wait, and they are unapologetic about it. Calvin who shampoo’s is HILARIOUS and almost makes up for everyone else. He is funny, outgoing, energetic AND an awesome person. Oh and Angie does great real hair work and weaves she is modern and stylish. Jill is only really good at sow-ins. If you want a sow in go to Jill and if you want your natural hair tended to, go to Angie, but be warned… YOUWILLWAIT. Also, not that I cared but there is no dress code so they dress… interesting sometimes(some people care about that sort of thing). If you go to them you can get a discount at the hair place in the same shopping center on weave and hair care products. THISIS A CASHONLYESTABLISHMENT but here is a Bank of America and Suntrust.

So today was my first day going to hair beyond. I was in need of a trim and wanted a cute little bob! I heard so many things about HB and how Jill and Angie were bomb! Although Angie wasn’t the one to cut my hair, Jill did a great job and I’m so happy I think I might just let her continue doing it. Next time ill let her work her craft by washing, styling etc! I do recommend her!

An update: I went for a second time the weekend before school started in Montgomery County. I called a few days prior, got a 5pm appointment for a wash, blowout, and flatiron, and arrived promptly that day. I left the salon at 9:15 pm. You read that right – 9:15 pm. 4.25 hours to wash, blow dry, and flatiron my hair. First, it started off with a very rough wash – the man that washed my hair basically washed it like I was a mannequin and my head was secured onto my body with Gorilla Glue. I had water in my face, on my shirt, just a mess. After that, I spent most of that time sitting… and watching Jill do a weave, tighten locs, and do other people’s hair. After about 3 hours of watching this, live tweeting my disbelief, thinking about paying for the wash and walking out, and being bounced from chair to chair, I asked how much longer will I be. She looked at me kind of like, «How dare you ask this question?» and told me that I’d probably get out around 10. I told her that I had a 5pm appointment, and then she had this«Oh sh*t!» look on her face… next thing I know, some random person was blow drying my already dried hair… and then I finally got my hair done by Jill. I could tell she was rushing, because it wasn’t even as nice as it was before. She was also doing that buttering up thing that stylists do when they know they’ve effed up – you know how they tell you you’re a good customer, etc etc. Okay. At least she didn’t charge me full price. Lesson learned – make sure I stay on the books at my regular salon.

I first learned About Hair Beyond from one of my members at work, who’s hair is always looking fabulous. She told me to ask for Jill and that is exactly what I did. I called to make an appointment and wow was I blown away with the professionalism and the great customer service over the PHONE. The young lady didn’t just stick me in a time slot, she asked probing questions being that this woul be my first time. She even recommended that I come in a day before to meet with the stylist. I did just that. Jill is so wonderful and I love her. She is really fantastic at what she does and cares about what she does. She takes time to listen an she is so welcoming. Everyone in the salon, do a great job and no one I lacking skills. They all get it in. They ate all friendly and so down to earth. They are very very very well rounded in all the latestes styles but ket me tell you, when it comes to short hair an weaves, child they are on fire. Hair beyond is officially my new salon.

I have natural hair and finding a good natural hairstylist, even in a big city, can be pretty tough in terms of price, location, and availability! My sister suggested I try out Hair Beyond and I am happy I did! Amanda(who specializes in natural hair including twists, locks, etc, but can really do anything and everything) did my hair and she did a FABULOUSSSS job! Very fast and gentle with my hair and the style was AMAZING and very regal, just how I like it! Great price considering I got a wash, deep condition, blow dry, and twisted updo! Will definitely go again!

One of the hardest things for me to find when I move to a new city is a hair dresser. I’m super picky and only want to go to someone who seems to actually care. One of my girlfriends suggested Jill at Hair Beyond and I’ve been going to her every since! They specialize in African American hair for both men and women. It seems each of the ladies here specializes in something different(there are 5 stylists) but I only see great finished products walking out the door. I go to Jill and she’s great. I bit expensive to me, but I’ve learned everything in the area is more expensive than I’m used to.
