Kemp Mill Optical

My family and I have been going to Kemp Mill Optical for at least 15 years (this includes when they were in White Oak Shopping Center). We have always been very impressed by the high quality care provided by Dr. Ly. She is especially good with children and my girls have always felt very comfortable being examined. The store has a good selection of frames. We also appreciate that the practice never seems to be behind schedule — appointments are always on time. This is a big issue for me so I really appreciate it. The prices are very competitive and I also like supporting independent businesses.

We went to Kemp Mill Optical (KMO) a few years ago because it was so convenient for us. The experience was somewhat neutral. The doctor was pleasant and the staff was all right. You select your frames in the store and they send them out to be made. KMO doesn’t accept our vision insurance and we decided to use an optician in our plan for our recent check-​up instead (I reviewed new doctor separately). After we ordered our new glasses my husband asked the doctor to adjust his old pair. The doctor was puzzled and asked if my husband had gotten the glasses from their office. No, my husband said from somewhere else. The doctor said the glasses did not have a bezel, which they should, and he had never seen anything like that before. My husband had problems with the lens popping out over the years and now we know why. Hopefully, KMO has found a better lab to manufacture their eyeglasses, but this is a mistake that should have been caught by the staff.

I’ve had one nightmare of an experience after another with opticians but thanks to Dr. Ly and her staff that all seems to be over. Dr. Ly is knowledgable and personable — taking the time to explain every detail. Maria, who works in the store, was lovely — from when I made my appt on the phone to fitting me with glasses. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Thank you Dr. Ly… I will be back!
