Key’s Dry Cleaners

One star rather than none because 2 items survived Young’s dry cleaning. The third item, a $ 118 black silk Perry Ellis blouse, came back with white lines all over it, where the color had been removed. The staff’s response was: (1) our policy is that we are not responsible for anything; (2) maybe you brought it in that way; (3) the buttons came out fine; and (4) let us dry clean it again for you. Yes, the buttons did come out fine, so I saved those and the rest of the blouse went in the trash.

I think the Key’s Dry Cleaners is the one of the best dry cleaners in this town. In this economy, everyone rushes to have a descent price. I highly recommended in this place!

Disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, there are some good things about the place: Fast turn around time, and they do shirts cheaply. But they’ve ruined two articles of our clothing, which is really best left to my weak abilities in the washroom.
The first was one of my wife’s dresses. It was a nice Etsy number, with a hand sewn flower on the shoulder. After we got it back from Key’s, the flowers was torn to shreds. This was over a year ago.
Having forgotten or perhaps deciding not to remember the incident, I took some shirts here the other day. Most of them came out all right, but one, with larger than normal sized buttons came back with buttons that were still large, but slightly reduced in size due to a thorough mangling and grinding which reduced them substantially in appearance to the point that this shirt will now be going into the «only to be worn with a sweater» section of the closet (and well on its way to the «to take to Goodwill» section).
Unfortunate, because the price is reasonable, but you’d think they would be able to handle clothes without ruining them, being a dry cleaner, after all.

I’ve been going to Young’s for a few months now and I have to say I’m overall pleased. The prices are right and they do a decent job of getting stains out. The service is friendly and quick. I drop my clothes off in the morning and I’m in and out in about 2 – 3 mins. Drop off the clothes, pay the price up front, and off you go. The clothes are ready the next day after 3pm. Even though they bleach the whites, they had a hard time removing a black scuff stain, so they’re not perfect (but what dry cleaning place is?). They did a great job with my casual jacket, though. It was left in the trunk of my car for over six months. In short, it smelled badly and was really dirty. I took it to them and viola, jacket looked brand new and smelled great.
As one of the photos suggest, the prices are excellent. 3 pairs of shirts and two pairs of pants for around $ 15. I haven’t seen prices that cheap within the DC area. There’s also plenty of parking at this place.
When I return, my clothes are crisp and feel and look brand new. I’ll keep returning to this place as long as they’re open (and they’re open on Saturdays, too).

We use this place for convenience. It is cheap and quick and perfectly serviceable for most things. However if you are very fastidious you will be disappointed in their treatment of dress shirts; definitely a rush job without a real attention to detail. I’ve gotten some basic tailoring done which I found a little pricey but again, quick and competent. Once however a hole was left unfinished.

I’ve been taking my shirts to Young’s Dry Cleaners on Sligo Ave for almost a decade now. The place changed hands a few years back. It used to be Key’s Dry Cleaners. The price used to be a little lower. There was a time when they would clean and press your shirts for less than a $ 1 a piece. Those days are gone but its still a bargain; especially if you compare their prices to those of the place near the intersection of Flower Avenue & Piney Branch Road. If you bring in at least 5 shirts the price is roughly $ 1.20 per shirt.
I can only vouch for the job they do on my shirts since that’s all the business I give them. I wash all my other clothes myself. There was a time when I washed, starched, and pressed my own shirts but those days are well behind me now.
