Should be 3.5 stars but i went with 4 stars because they’re really great people. They told me that the truck would be there between 8 – 9AM but they got there closer to 10AM. So already we were running late and the freight elevator was reserved for a four hour block, so we needed to stay on track. Well, as soon as the truck gets there, it breaks down. Womp, that sucks. But the truck breaking down was totally out of their control. I explained to them that we were running on a strict time schedule. So they started moving things outside while we waited for the other truck to get there. And they didn’t charge me for those hours. The truck finally got there around 12:30pm(yikes!!) But luckily I was able to extend the freight elevator reservation in my new building. Disaster averted. I was patient with the movers(seriously really nice people) and they in return were doing everything in their power to move fast and efficient.

My roommate and I used this company to move from Bethesda to Brentwood(DC) a few weeks ago. Other than some small hiccups like the truck breaking down, which were out of their control, the move was really smooth and handled with care. The movers were really nice and even disassembled and reassembled a dresser set we had built poorly on our own(awesome!). Also, whereas other moving companies wouldn’t let us ride in the truck between locations, they happily did because we don’t have a car.

I found this company while browsing craigslist ads for movers. Due to budget, we needed to do our two part move on our own. Part 1 was getting out of our old house ahead of our tenants. We loaded two large Uhaul trucks on our own and also hired some day laborers. Part 2 was a couple of days later after we settled on the new house. Because we wanted to keep the new house as pristine as possible during the move, we decided to hire movers to help with unloading furniture only from the truck and into the house. There was a tight staircase and we needed to move 2 appliances and a large king size bed along with other assorted furniture. The first thing they did was point out various dings and dents on the furniture on the truck. We told them clearly that first priority was making sure the house didn’t get damaged, we didn’t care about the furniture. There was some grumbling about the amount of furniture but keeping on them, we were able to get all of the furniture dealt with in the two hour period. There were scuff marks along the staircase, some made by us, one large mark made by the movers when the hose on the washer dragged along the handrail. Luckily Magic Eraser took care of that and the builders will help touch up after 30 days. The biggest miracle was getting the king size Tempurpedic mattress up the staircase which was worth the cost of labor alone. My only disappointment was that I thought we were hiring professional movers. They were really no better than the day laborers we found on our own, in fact when my husband asked, two of the men stated they had been picked up that day to help. I also thought they would help pad the staircase but didn’t really offer to do any of that. It was still the best rate when I called around both in hourly fee and the fee to come out so since budget was our priority, they did fit the bill and they did get it done in the two hour window. The bonus was paying in cash which got us an extra 5% off. The reservation process with Marci was very easy once all of my questions were answered.

Why doesn’t this company have any reviews if they are so good? And supposedly they have 20 years of experience. Because they get Unilocal to somehow remove them. That is not fair. This company was awful. They sent out 2 guys and at first they were moving fast. Really hustling. He even called the office to say, we are ahead of schedule and asked me to see if we could access the loading dock earlier than requested. Then everything changed. Every time he would leave my apartment with a box, it would be 15 minutes before he would return for the next load. I guess he was rearranging things in the truck over and over again. What should have been a 5 hour job ended up taking 9 hours and costing me $ 810 to move a tiny 1 bedroom apartment. Ridiculous. He broke a piece of furniture. On top of that, he called me a week later to say he found one of my boxes on his truck. He was going to drop that off in my lobby. I never did get that box either. That particular box was filled with pictures of my children who are now grown up. These were priceless and are apparently lost forever. I would never work with this company again and do not recommend that you use them either.
