Nectar Lounge

I am torn because this is the only descent African lounge I know in the DMV, the DJ is really great but the place still sucks. It is overpriced, cuz it is not worth going coming here if you do not get bottle and table service. The party starts around 1pm… Food is descent.

I went on International night (Saturday), and I was not impressed. This place has a good amount of space, so walking in to a damn near empty establishment near midnight after paying $ 20 to enter will piss anyone off. I sat there and saw this emotion play out over and over again as people trickled in. I arrived at 11 pm, and was stunned to find a bunch of emptiness. I wasn’t expecting a super crowd, but this was ridiculous. The dinner tables were even empty. I can understand if they want to charge admission after midnight, but this was a joke. The owners of this establishment should at least try the free before 11 approach, and maybe they can get folks to show up. The music was okay. They played a combination of Reggae and African music. The drinks were the typical nightclub prices, and eventually somebody ordered an entrée that smelled so fishy, I was scared it would penetrate my clothing and hair. I got up outta there fast! The hell with that $ 20, I paid good money for this hair weave!

Friday night is Caribbean Night, so Reggae lovers, come on out. Nice Venue, parking is slightly difficult, several on the street spots around 11pm, but that will change quickly. The customers were nice, music was nice. Drinks were small, but good AND grossly over priced.

Up and coming spot for jazz on Thursday and Friday. Check out NightMoves. Appetizer platter decent. Drink selection limited. Gots potential.

Been here a few times. It’s seems to have a pretty diverse crowd. This is a great venue, nice layout, two full Bars. The bartending staff is great! Drink are reasonably priced. The food is also very good, the menu is African based but also has american and Latin food! If you like spicy food, they have a house special hot sauce that is AMAZING!
I went on a Sunday for the game and they had an Amazing deal! I paid around $ 20 for a bucket of beer (6) and Buffalo wings!
I will be returning in the near future.
