Terrible experience here after purchasing a keratin treatment. As someone who has received this treatment from plenty of other salons I can honestly say this is the worst I have gotten in (or around) DC.
First, it took longer that normal. Second, it lasted all of a week and a half. Sigh. I just love spending a fortune for a terrible service. And there wasn’t much communication on the upkeep but I just expected it to be like every other treatment I’ve received in the city. I was apparently wrong, according to the owner’s response to another customer’s review, they expect you to come in every few weeks and spend MORE money just to obtain the same hair I’ve received from other salons in 1 session. Will not be doing so.
Had I check Unilocal before I would have never booked an appointment here. Worse than my experience is the owner’s response to the honest reviews on here. First of al, if she really has THOUSANDS of satisfied customers why does she only have 1 star? Also, I have to wonder why she is so defensive and angry about the reviews here, take it as constructive criticism and make the appropriate changes to accommodate their customer. Never forget, a bad Unilocal rating can make or break a business.

I am only responding to the business owner’s comments. I did not write my previous review to slander her business. Note I wrote that she runs a legitimate business. I wrote this review because I think her advertisement that the infrared sauna will cleanse the colon is misleading and should be stopped. I have read a lot about the infrared sauna and am considering buying one myself for my own use and I have never read any articles about the infrared sauna that touts colon cleansing. Yes the sauna removes toxins by making you sweat but it does not target the colon and make you go to the bathroom. There is a difference. Anyone of average intelligence and knowledge about colon cleansing and infrared saunas would not claim that infrared saunas is equipped to cleanse the colon. Advertising that a dry infrared sauna session is equivalent to a colon cleansing session is absolutely false and misleading. If it is true then why aren’t other spas with infrared saunas advertising this? This is what I have a problem with.

I also don’t think this place gives you good deals for the infrared sauna sessions, because she charges gratuity (20%) after you’ve paid for your deal. I am entitled to my own opinion. I personally won’t go back because I’m going to buy my own sauna for my own use and this place is inconvenient for me.
My low rating of this place is because of the misleading advertisement and not so good deal after charges of 20% gratuity. People who don’t care about getting good deals will not care about my review. People who do care might. This is for the educated people that care about getting good deals.

Absolutely terrible service. I got the Keratin treatment done and it lasted for the 7 days I was instructed to not wash it. As soon as I washed my hair it went back to curly and essentially like I never had the treatment done at all.
I contacted the lady the next day after washing it and she said there’s nothing she can do to help. Regardless of the price I paid I’m still paying for the service and did not recieve what I requested treatment for. My hair is left in spirals again and now I’m short $ 175 from using the Living Social deal the stylist listed.
I’ve had this service done before with Elizabeth Arden and it too is Formaldehyde Free AND lasted the amount of time it should 4 – 6 months. This one (aslo Formaldehyde free) last 7 days. Do NOT get your hair done here for Keratin Treatments.

This keratin treatment lasts the 7 days you don’t wash it unfortunately, unlike all other keratin treatments I have had (even using sulfate & paraben free product for upkeep). Additionally, for my hair, the heat used to apply the treatment ended up leading to breakage. I hate to give a bad review because the owner was very personable but I can’t recommend the treatment.

I received Keratin and protein treatment from Kelina Baltimore and her follow up treatment and i love it. My hair already feels softer and i see less sheading already. She has beautiful center that is very personable and she explains everything well and I will be returning for body wellness also. She is now my hair doctor!
