My husband and I visited Cowboy Canyon over the past weekend and we cannot say enough good things about this place! We were looking for wineries close to home for a day visit and Cowboy Canyon was perfect. The location is pretty great as it shares a compound with the Giracci winery, and is surrounded by Oak trees and other ranches etc. The tasting room is small, but comfortable and quaint.(There are high tables outside where people can sit and enjoy their wine). We were lucky enough to have one of the owners and winemakers, Mike, to guide us through the list. I think he and his wonderful wife, Donna, were the highlight of trip. In fact, we spent so much time here that we didn’t even have a chance to try the winery next door! Hopefully I do not sound too pretentious, but we are very open to all wines and have tasted anywhere from New Zealand and Burgundy to North Carolina and Murphy’s California– you just never know when you might stumble a hidden gem. On that note we did buy a bottle of their Barbera :):) I think it is definitely worth a visit to Cowboy Canyon and maybe even one of their events.

Our night at Cowbow Canyon Winery began with entering a stunning entryway thru a white fence lined property. Immediately we were greeted by tree hung lights, the sound of wonderful country music, and the sweet smell of BBQ. We parked, and took a beautiful stroll down a path to be greeted by flowing beer, wine and cheer. It was fabulous. Truly fabulous. I cannot recommend Cowbow Canyon Winery enough to couples, families, or those just taking a night out alone. The wine is magnificent. Five stars is not enough, the staff and the service deserve 10 Unilocal stars. XOXO.

Wow! All I can say is come on down! This gem is rich with amazing energy, ambience, and flavors!!! The wine speaks for itself and the girl behind the counter(Austin) was super attentive and sweet. We did the tasting and couldn’t make up our mind on which was our favorite so we bought the Sangiovese(red) and Posse(red blend) wines. The owners Dawna and Micheal came over to our table and were absolutely delightful! Can’t say enough on how fun the atmosphere and people are here. Definitely a perfect spot for a quick tasting or all day in our case haha

Such a beautiful hidden gem! We brought our picnic basket, set it down somewhere nice, kept going back and forth for our tastings, and it was just great! I can’t wait to go back, I really want to check out their 3rd Fridays of the month!

Friends got tickets for a night of wine tasting and a cook-off for $ 35, live music, line dancing and fun! Yeap, all that was fun until we were told that our tickets only cover food, wine tasting is a different thing, that someone comes to our table and tells us more about the wines. But since this is a live music night it’s too loud, so we should buy a bottles of wine instead. Fine, still fun, until we got a plate of food, that came with coleslaw, beans, slices of sausage, slices of brisket and slices of grilled chicken. Not too much, but pretty good. And a lot of fun until I went back to get more for my $ 35 but a lady told us no seconds until everyone gets firsts. Huh? Came back for seconds later but they were out of sausages and coleslaw, so I got some brisket with grilled onion. So we finally got it why others weren’t eating around us, the locals know the drill, the food package is a scam. You get to make your own s’mores at some candles light, that’s probably the most fun! Come for some live country music and dance, pretty good wine and to meet the local canyon dwellers, but eat somewhere else before you get here.

The cowboy winery is tucked away in between the beautiful canyons of Santiago, in Orange County. This is the perfect location to come and enjoy fine wine and entertainment while taking in its natural beauty. The owners and staff treat you as if they have known you a lifetime. Come enjoy the country atmosphere while enjoying the stillness of Orange County.

We stopped in here after visiting Garacci and enjoyed our visit overall. The lady pouring wine was super sweet and interesting and the wines were pretty good for SoCal. We played Corn hole and visited the horses and the weather was perfect for sitting outside sipping wine under the red umbrellas. The negative was the very rude older lady(maybe an owner) that scowled and growled and looked down her nose. We brought our medium dogs that everyone was petting and enjoying and she came over and very nasty-like complained about«their insurance not liking dogs» and telling us «it» should be under our chair. Which, ok, I get it, but did she have to be so rude and cranky about it? Moral of the story: not dog or people friendly, wine was ok, Garacci was better.

I wanted to give this a 5 star because I really did love the place and Austin was fantastic! It got 3 stars because of the lack of customer service from the owner and the event planner. I called twice and left messages and sent and email and gave Austin my phone # to have someone call me as I wanted to arrange to have my daughters bridal shower there. No replies! From anyone! :-( I enjoyed my day there wine tasting with a friend but now have a sour taste in my mouth(hahaha) due to the lack of replies from the staff.

My husband suggested we take a drive down this area to check out the wineries. I had no idea this place was here. I was very impressed at how beautiful the grounds were, how delicious the wines tasted and the excellent service. Especially since we were with our kids, who enjoyed visiting the horses and having a picnic on the grass area. Definitely a family-friendly place. Thanks for the wonderful afternoon. Definitely visiting again.

I attended a wedding at Giracci Vinyards in Silverado, Ca and stumbled upon a nugget of a tasting room called Cowboy Canyon. I really enjoyed their selection of wines and will return to this beautiful place. The owners were very engaging and made my wife and I feel welcome. 5 stars for Cowboy Canyon Wine.

The owner greeted us the second time we walked in which is a nice change for a tasting room. He was super welcoming and told us all about the winery. The only down size is the pour sizes are a lot smaller than other wineries I’ve been to. The lay out of the winery is beautiful, theres actually a wedding here today. They have horse stables you can walk into and pet the horses. And there’s another tasting place right next door.

Such a cute and hidden gem in OC! Can’t believe I have never seen this place. Where else can you sip on wine and pet horses? This winery is small but offers a lot. It is Great for outdoor seating to have a picnic with friends, or have a intimate date. Love this place!

This small tasting room offers three wines: a white stainless chardonnay, a sangiovese, and a meritage. The chardonnay couldn’t possibly offend anyone, although on smelling the bouquet, I could swear it was laced with horse manure. I pointed this out, seriously, I did, to my party, and another picked up on it as well. It wasn’t bad, and was surely due to the stables nearby. It was very light and drinkable like a soft watery lemonade. Who could hate that? The sangiovese was decent, and we got no complaints there. Not bad. The meritage was pretty good, and we all liked that, but not for the price. This place is worth a visit.

Fun atmosphere with friendly folks. You can’t beat the beautiful scenery. Bring friends and snacks to fully enjoy your experience. One of the owners, Mike, welcomed me with a warm greeting. He connected with new visitors like me just as energetically as he caught up with regulars. Rumor has it they host live music on the occasional Friday night. I’m marking my calendar for that.

We recently discovered Cowboy Canyon Winery when we were visiting Giracci Winery. It’s a wonderful experience! Great wine, great music, and great people! Michael and Donna are so nice and make everyone feel welcome! What a great way to spend a beautiful weekend afternoon! We enjoyed their Chardonnay, Sangiovesie and Meritage! They even allowed us to bring our dog, Ozzy, who had a wonderful time as well. If you’re in search of a winery get-away in Orange County, don’t miss out on Cowboy Canyon! 6÷23÷2014: I just saw Ted S’s review and felt compelled to add my thoughts regarding his review. Maybe he’s making a joke, or maybe he took too long of a whiff of a horse’s stall while strolling through the barn? The Chardonnay has a very pleasant bouquet(and taste) — not at all similar to the essence of «horse manure.» My compliments to the winemaker on a home run regarding this crisp, refreshing Chardonnay.

What an amazing little Orange County Gem! Visited this small winery while visiting Giracci Winery located on the same property. They were so nice and welcoming that I didn’t want to leave! The wine was amazing and you can tell how much pride and love they put into each batch! The space is small and located on the side of the Chardonnay barn on Giracci Vineyards… I can’t say enough good things about the winemaker Michael and his family! I can’t wait to go back and the Cowboy theme is excellent! I just love this place!

This place was amazing! Who knew such a place existed in Orange County. You are transported from the OC hustle & bustle to a beautiful ranch with chandeliers in the barn(Who knew) The owner and staff are fantastic, they definitely made me feel at home and were super accommodating with our large party and even stayed open a bit later for us. I cannot say enough about how awesome my experience was and one of the best parts is that it is right in my own backyard. If you are looking to enjoy some wine and great company in a relaxing atmosphere, you can’t go wrong with this place!!!

One of my new favorite places to spend a weekend afternoon! The property is beautiful– best part is that the tasting room is connected to the chic barn full of lovely horses! You can grab your taste and walk through the barn and pet them all. The owner Michael was SUPER friendly and accommodating. The staff is super sweet as well. It was nice to taste their wine and get to know them. We had the best Sunday afternoon yesterday. It was our second time back and we brought even more friends and family to share the experience! All had a blast. See you next weekend!

What a fun atmosphere! Awesome place to relax and enjoy good music and great wine. We hung out there with a good size group on a Sunday afternoon and had an absolute ball. We were able to meet the very friendly and knowledgable wine maker Michael and his family while we enjoyed the quaint hillside tasting room. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, they even stayed open past there normal hours for us!!! Highly recommend everyone to come visit this beautiful property! Why sit in traffic to go to Temecula when you can very easily spend a full afternoon at this property tasting wine at the two different tasting rooms located there.
