Mac’s Place

I’ve walked by mac’s several times and do occasionally see it packed on a weekend, but it must be on a night with live music, because they can’t be going for the food or the service. After my third catastrophic visit, I vowed never to go again. Even when the place isn’t very busy, the service is ridiculously slow and rude. The food sounds great, but when you finally get it, it’s cold, congealed, and so over salted it’s inedible.
I won’t waste my money here again when there are so many great places to eat in silverton.

Great ambiance, great beer selection and out of this world mac & cheese. It’s an old location in downtown Silverton but it’s that cool old inside. Back deck seating right on the creek. True destination.

Wonderful service. Had burgers and fries on a rainy night and they tasted good with the microbrews.

We’ve lived in Texas so we have had lots of bbq in our day. The smoked turkey they make in-​house here is no joke. Like mouth-​watering delicious, perfect amount of smoke. I had the turkey reuben and it was to die for. Added fries, lightly breaded hand cut with some blackberry (I think) ketchup? Drool. Husband had jalapeño bacon mac n cheese and declared it was absolutely worth the calories. They also had lots of fun cider/​beer on tap, I chose a blackberry cider, didn’t catch the maker, but it was delicious. Our service was great, super sweet lady helped us out, food came quickly to the gorgeous outdoor patio overlooking the bubbling creek to our fun bench/​table with our personal outdoor heater. We had no idea this gem was hiding in the back of a non-​descript looking bar/​tavern. Great food, great ambience, nice folks.

What a great spot & the house smoked turkey is Excellent! Love the blue plate special and the staff. Friendly and fab back deck overlooking Silver Creek.

So, I’ve been to silverton exactly twice but both times came here and was not disappointed. Service is friendly, maybe a bit slow but if you’re in a hurry that’s what fast food is for. Must sit on back patio. Cannot stress this enough, it is beautiful! Gorgeous wooden benches, hanging flowerpots, bubbling creek… what’s not to like? Ordered mac and cheese, super delicious. Last time ordered turkey sandwich, not so much by still not bad. I adore this place and will come any time I’m in the area.

More burger than you pay for! Beautiful toasted onion bun with a perfectly cooked, juicy 6 oz. burger patty. Fresh, crisp veggies with red onion and, oh my, that chipotle mayo is fantastic!
Fantastic Blackberry Cider!

To start with the positive, the food was actually really good. I would eat the food again if I didnt have to actually come back to the restaurant.
Now for the rant: The service was slooooooow and inattentive. And it was not busy. We were not in any kind of hurry, but golly, it took a long time just to take our order.
When the food finally came out, they could have made 2 in our party sick. One was allergic to tomatoes, and asked for no tomato on the sandwich. There was tomato juice and seeds on the sandwich, so they clearly put the tomato on, then took it off to «fix» it before sending it from the kitchen. This is just dishonest. They did take it back and made a new one, saying it would just take a minute. She did not get her new sandwich until we were all done eating.
The second has a dairy allergy, and asked for no cheese on his sandwich, also stating that it was an allergy, so please dont butter the bun if that is what they do. The kitchen followed suit, but did nothing about the fact that the po’ boy bun had cheese baked on top! Seriously?!
I really hope this was just an off day for the staff.

The food here was awesome! A few coworkers and I came to Silverton to look at some properties and we styles on Mac’s Place. I am so glad we decided to stop in.
The outside eating area is great (overlooking the creek) and the food really is awesome. I had the Turkey Club and it was phenomenal. The blue cheese bacon fries are really good and you can tell that they are handcut. We also had the fried green tomatoes that were amazing as well.
I don’t live in Silverton, but I am thinking about driving over just to stop at Mac’s Place!!!

So I’m torn about this review. Some of the food we ordered was good… others just «meh». First off, the coleslaw is garbage. I’m pretty sure it was just cabbage and Miracle Whip. No real taste, just plain blah. We ordered the Pulled Pork and Brisket sandwiches, which were pretty darn good. Original Mac N Cheese was nice and creamy and had good flavor. More green onions would’ve been nice though. BBQ sauce had nice spice to it. Hoagie rolls were fresh and very tasty. Now for the bad… other than the coleslaw. The waitress was less than attentive being that there were only 2 occupied tables in the place. She took forever to check on us, leaving my glass empty for quite some time. I had also asked for more sauce that took forever to get as she got side tracked talking to an obvious regular at the bar. It was pretty warm in the place too. All in all 3.5 stars for everything food wise (except the slaw of course) & 2 stars for the service.

Came in for breakfast this time. Their hash browns and English muffin were my favorites! $ 15 for two people, full belly’s and ready to experience more of Silverton. Mac’s Place has great service also.

Food ok service poor waitress picked up glasses with her finger inside doesn’t was her hands and then goes and pick up customers food. Then I see her pick up a wine bottle pulls the cork out with her teeth and put it back in with her teeth yuck I wouldn’t eat there again who knows what you could pick up from a dirty mouth maybe the health department should be notified

Normally I would give Mac’s 4 stars, but the rude, confrontational, slow waitress we had today made it a very unpleasant lunch. We would love to see a new menu, but good service always makes up for lack of change in food.

Had the Mac burger with three patties and it was greasy and delicious! My kinda Burger! The fries with blue cheese and bacon were ok but I would not order them again! Service was also average but this was expected for its a bar/​restaurant. all in all I would go back for the burger!

Not great, not bad; lunch was just so-​so. The better bet is breakfast. Nice thick bacon, eggs to order and great hash browns. Wait staff were pleasant and accommodating. Don’t come if you’re looking for a quick in-​and-​out meal — the pace is leisurely. The covered back deck above the creek was relaxing. Just wish smoking wasn’t permitted.

Great food at a great price. The Mac is excellent, I love Mac and cheese and this definitely is one of the best I’ve had. I also had the French fries, not the normal French fries you expect but they were great along with the sauce that had a little spice to it. Great meal.

We stopped at Mac’s after hiking the falls. We didn’t have high expectations based on the reviews but figured they could probably do some basic things well enough. They definitely exceeded our expectations. It’s not a gourmet spot but they go out of their way to do some extras. I got the burger on a homemade onion roll. It was delicious. I added grilled onions & a fried egg. Super yum. It’s not a hand formed patty but it didn’t matter.
The fries were amazing — similar tasting to fries in Belgium that taste double fried but they use rice flour here. My plate included homemade blackberry habanero ketchup.
The place isn’t «gourmet» but they take extra steps & it’s a lovely treat.
Nachos were average but included fresh jalapeños instead of canned.
Service was great. I noticed other reviews complaining but we had attentive & prompt service.

What a secret treasure. especially once you head outside. We were sitting in the dark bar, during the day and the sunshine just beckoned to me to come out on their deck! And what a surprise to sit and look right down onto Silver Creek running fast beside us.
I ordered my Kendall Jackson chardonnay (so glad to see that places still carry that label), and took it all in.
I also picked their oyster basket, complete with a great side of greens salad with their homemade marionberry vinagarette dressing. They also brought a marionberry jalapeño dipping sauce along with my oysters to my delicious delight! The oysters were fresh, the batter was crispy and not greasy.
Perfect moment.
