Baja Grill

I’ve been to this restaurant twice – both visits were in 2008. The first visit was a decent dining experience and the food was fantastic. The second time the food was great but the experience was awful! Foiled again at finding a great local restaurant my wife and I can go to on a regular basis.
The first time we went there it was a pretty nice experience and really good food, but the odd things was the drunk owner stumbling around chatting with everyone. He came to our table at our request because we wanted to compliment him on his fantastic steaks. In the middle of telling him how much we were enjoying our food (and service up to That point) he simple turned around slowly (again, drunk) and wobbled away. All 4 of us looked at each other in shock and laughed it off. We were bothered by it but didn’t want to let it ruin our dinner. But in hindsight it wasn’t subtle and it wasn’t professional.
The second time I took my wife’s parents here and decided to sit outside. The hostess could have sat us anywhere but decided on sitting us beneath the LOUD TV. There was only one other table being occupied so we were really confused. That table unfortunately had a family of 4 consisting of 3 kids and 1 mom. One of the kids had the good fortune of possessing the remote to the TV and constantly kept flipping it between cartoons and even turned it up louder at one point. Mom looked on very proud of her sons actions. I politely asked mommy and the boy if they could turn down the TV and he just wouldn’t. I asked our waitress if we could move since the mom wasn’t being reasonable and she immediately sat us inside.
As we sat down one of the bus boys spilled a glass of water all over my lap. I laughed at first «Doh!” – hey, accidents happen right? I’ve been there! It didn’t bother me. What did bother me was the fact that he never apologized for doing so and even made it worse by wiping more water onto my lap as he tried to wipe it up. What?!
It a total put-​off. Once we got the food, everything settled down and enjoyed our meal.
I’ve recently visited the website and apparently the place is under new management and also hosts a new chef so perhaps things have changed? I would give it another shot but I don’t know about my wife. If we do go back I’ll update this review. I can only report on my two experiences and hope things have changed for those that are interested.
