I received a flyer in the mail offering a consultation and portfolio review gratis. The flyer continued with«after presenting your portfolio review, as a special thank you, you will receive a complimentary $ 100 Visa gift card.» I went to the office located in Simi Valley, provided tax return info, annuity and investment info, banking info, pension info, everything requested. The agent said he would be out the following week for Thanksgiving and would contact me the week thereafter. Which he did via email, telling me that after reviewing my documents, he thought it would be «too expensive» for me to make any changes and that what I currently had seemed appropriate for my needs. When I replied to his email inquiring about the gift card, he replied that I was ineligible. I find the flyer misleading. I met with the agent and provided the documents requested. He reviewed them and he decided I did not need to make any changes, that he did not want my business. That would seem to be «presenting my portfolio review» in his declining my business. Anyway, I can take comfort in knowing that per his opinion, I already have suitable choices but I do feel taken by the refusal to honor the promo.
