I have been a patient of Dr Kasel for 12 years. During this time I have always been treated with respect. Dr Kasel and her staff have always explained everything carefully to me and been helpful when I need something. I too had a high risk pregnancy and I was grateful that she sent me to a specialist even when I wanted to stay inhouse with her. Things I like best = she listens to your concerns and address them, explains things in terms I understand, follows through as promised and will always tell you what your best options are when you need treatment. I also cannot say enough good about her amazing staff, especially Debra. She did move to UCLA Medical Group for a while and while she was there they would never book me with her, always making me see other doctors. I am grateful she moved back out on her own so I can see my own doctor when I have an issue.

I was sadly disappointed in dr Kassel bed side manners. I had been a patient at the office for many years but never had to see dr Kassel I was seeing her nurse practitioners. When I became pregnant I had to start seeing her. It was suppose to be a happy moment for me and she made me feel like crap. I was a high risk pregnancy in her eyes so she told me I had to go somewhere else. Which was fine. But I had a couple questions to ask she blew me off and was so rude. I couldn’t believe her reaction. I will never go back to her again. She is very unprofessional in my eyes. Thank god my new Doctor has made my pregnancy everything it should be.

Shayla Kasel is the name physician on Wood Ranch Medical group. I called for an appointment for a work physical and was told that Dr Kasel was not available that day, but Dr Rogers was. I accepted the appointment. Dr Rogers was very thorough and had an excellent bedside manner. Part of my required physical examination was to have a Tuberculosis(TB) screening(PPD test), for which I had to return to their office between 48 and 72 hours after the PPD had been administered. I clearly explained to the receptionist that day that I had work near LAX until 2:15 on Friday, and would do everything I could to come to their office after work before they closed, but didn’t want to waste their time by booking for Friday, so I made my official appointment for Saturday morning but asked that they note that I was going to try to come by 3:30 on Friday. I received a confirmation call on Thursday afternoon regarding my Friday appointment which had been made for me in error, at which time I explained again that I would be making every effort to come on Friday, but was loathe to waste their time and could only make a tentative appointment for Friday. I was able to make it in on Friday, so I called to confirm 30 minutes before my arrival. When I arrived, the receptionist asked me to sign in, and then asked me what I needed to have done. I told her that I’d had a work physical with a PPD on Wednesday, and that I was there to pick up my paperwork and have the PPD read. They said they didn’t have my paperwork, only looked around the office for it at my request, then called Dr Rogers to ask where at was, also at my request. She answered the phone and told the receptionists exactly where to find it. Dr Kasel emerged from the back of the office, and without an introduction, announced that she would be reading my PPD. I showed her my left forearm where I’d had the injection, and she closely examined my skin. If you’ve ever known anyone who has been exposed to TB, they can tell you that their PPD results in a very obvious, aggravated reaction at the injection site. I stood quietly, as she examined my arm in the middle of the waiting room. She spent several minutes inspecting my freckles, as though they could be an indication of a potitive PPD reaction. Then Dr Kasel said, «Are you sure it was this arm?» and without allowing any time for my reply, she grabbed my other arm and examined it as well as I assured her I was quite certain I had received the injection in my left arm. After then comparing my forearms side by side, and coming to the conclusion for herself that my freckles were, in fact, freckles, Dr Kasel looked over my paperwork. With an air of impatience, as though I had caused her some inconvenience, she told me my paperwork was not completed nor signed, and that she simply did not have time to do it. She said Dr Rogers should have finished my paperwork before my arrival. I could see from where I was standing that Dr Rogers had completed the relevant medical information, and came to the logical conclusion that she did not want to sign the paperwork until after my PPD had been read. I politely asked Dr Kasel if perhaps she had been waiting until someone had read my PPD. She said no, suggesting that Dr Rogers had done something wrong by not signing the paperwork before the examination was complete, and proceeded to tell me that I should have told them I was coming on Friday instead of Saturday, and that it was because of my unexpected early arrival that my paperwork was not done. I respectfully informed Dr Kasel that two of her receptionists had already been advised that I was planning to arrive on Friday. Dr Kassel then said, «Well Dr Rogers hasn’t signed these. She lives in the valley. Should I call her and see if she’ll come all the way over here just to sign them? I don’t have time for these right now.» I had noticed when I was signing in that their last patient had come in more than two hours before me, and I heard Dr Kasel talking in the back of the office, saying, «I just have to finish this post-op form and I’m leaving early!» For her to then tell me, «I don’t have time for these right now,» seemed dishonest. I told Dr Kasel that I didn’t need for her to waste Dr Rogers’ time as well as mine, and told her I would settle for coming back to their office again the following morning to collect my completed paperwork. Dr Kasel repeated that if I had booked my appointment for Friday, the paperwork would have been done. I told her, again, that two different staff members in their office had been advised of my schedule, and their inability to communicate with other staff members was not my problem. After having her examine me in the waiting room, behave so rudely during that examination, talk down to me regarding my appointment booking, and her inability to recognize a very obviously negative PPD test result, I will never see Dr Kasel again.
