SUNRUN did not return my $ 500.00 deposit, thus acting in bad faith. Please do not conduct any business with these crooks. CAVEATEMPTOR.

Sunrun Simi Valley is installing today. Crew is warm, friendly and efficient. Thanks Matthew Garbe for coordinating the effort. Great decision.

Totally impressed with everything about this company. I signed up using the Costco program. The installation was by Sunrun. Sunrun kept me informed every step of the way. Sunrun never missed an appointment. The promise was for one day installation — they delivered. The initial estimate was for 17 panels. When we signed the papers they told me only 16 panels were necessary. They were right! We’re currently generating more electricity than our needs and the days are short — it’s January. I’m glad that I didn’t read the reviews that i see here before signing papers for the system. My experience is 180 degrees from what I see here.

I’m giving this review 1 star only because they won’t let me go lower. Here’s my experience with Sunrun. I was approached in Best Buy by Lou F. wearing a Sunrun shirt asking if I was interested in solar. After some discussion, I found out Lou works for a company call BrightCurrent that is the sales arm of Sunrun. We spoke for a while and I decided I wanted to hear more so we made an appointment. Lou and the project manager from Sunrun showed up at the appointed time and we went through the presentation. During his time here, I asked Lou if I could get a copy of the presentation so I could review it and he told me he would email it to me. When discussions ended and they left my house, I sent an email to Lou reminding him to send me the presentation. The next morning, I get an email from Lou indicating that I could not get the presentation until I get another bid so I can compare them side by side. That caveat was not mentioned when we were talking about it when they were at my house. I requested he reconsider the request because, if I didn’t receive it, he would be out of the running. His response? «Fine!». He then send a second follow-up email within seconds with remarks that were way off base, unprofessional and immature. Is this a way to treat a potential customer? I called Sunrun directly and told them of the issue and forwarded the emails Lou sent me. Because of Lou, I will never do business with Sunrun. No matter what they offer me.

So after researching 5+ companies I finally decided to use SUNRUN because I liked the sales rep, I liked their PPA program, etc. They did exactly what they said they would, they did a great installation, and they even corrected a goof on some compensation I was owed almost a year after the installation took place(that sort of follow-up is rare). Solar City was much higher per KW, Solar Universe was a scammer/hard-sell organization, and Verango was sketchy at best, so I highly recommend Sunrun if you’ve been on the fence regarding who to use for your solar. Boy do I feel stupid. I trusted the salesman. Rule #1 never trust a salesman. The salesman brought graphics and charts displaying tier 3 and 4 usage for the past year and with solar we would no longer incur tier 3 and 4 costs. We were led to believe our solar system would(based upon the prior years usage) produce enough energy that it would cover our electric bill and then some. Instead of paying 200 – 300 per month, sometimes as high as 400 we would be paying $ 75 per month just to lease the equipment and then a couple of bucks a month in taxes. So a rather warm winter and summer go by and we are happily using our AC to stay comfortable with the warm and cozy feeling that hey we’ve got solar. WRONG! We just got a «true up» bill of $ 1,925. Say what? Did the salesman tell us about«true up»? NOPE. it’s in the fine print dummy, read the fricken contract. Sure enough it says typically solar will cover about 35% of your energy cost. Now with the«true up» fee and the monthly lease bill(which will go up over time) we will spend more money on electricity than before solar. I feel like I was deceived because the«downside» was never spelled out. We were told we might even get money back from Edison. Who doesn’t want to do that. If you are thinking of going with Sunrun, think again, do your homework, read about the class action lawsuit, read all the complaints on the BBB website(they’ll be getting another one soon) and then make your decision. We were the only ones on our block to buy into this and we’ll be forewarning our neighbors the next time the Sunrun people canvas the neighborhood.
