I have been hiking here a few times. It has easy access parking and lots of trail choices. I am looking forward to be able to find my way around. Luckily I hike with a friend who knows her way otherwise I would be lost. Love the views and the fact that a lot of people take advantage of all these trails. It is not crowded or anything but it makes me feel safe seeing others a long the way. I will be back for sure.

I’ve been to this trail a few different times when visiting family in the area. It never seems to be too crowded, however the trail is shared with dogs(watch for land minds) and bicycles(be aware of your six). The trails offer a range of difficulty, from a fairly steep incline to mostly level. Being as it’s just down the street from where I usually stay, I’ll definitely be back.

This hiking trail has lots of trails and is a little confusing without using a map. Today we did a little over 5 miles but ended up in a residential area. We found our way back but we would have liked to stay on the trail. Snakes are out so we didn’t mind. Still a great workout

WoodRanch Trails are nice, easy trails that are family friendly and convenient. At the top of Country Club Pkwy on the right is a decent sized parking lot from which the trails can be accessed. Compared to more difficult California trails, WR Trails are pretty short and simple. This provides a nice experience for those looking for some exercise but not wanting to really invest a day of arduous hiking. It’s also especially nice if you have younger children who might not make longer hikes. For the most part, the trails are well maintained and provide some nice scenic views of the surrounding valley. If you have a couple hours and like to hike, add WR Trails to your list and pay them a visit!

Love this trail! Yesterday our amazing friend help to clean 400 yards of tumble weeds. Hoping the parks and rec helps to clean up the best trail in Simi. Off to another hike in 2015!

This is one of my favorite outdoor areas in Simi Valley and it is a pretty cool spot. It is great for mountain biking, hiking, taking photos, or simply being outdoors. Be aware that the area is HUGE and it’s easy to get lost there. There’s also no cellphone reception in most of the area. My father-in-law hikes here every morning and has seen everything from rattlesnakes and tarantulas to mountain lions. I’ve only seen rattle snakes there myself so be careful with kids. I went here last time at noon on a 100 degree sunny day, which wasn’t that smart when we ended up hiking from Simi Valley to Thousand Oaks and back again to the trail start in Simi… All in all, I think this preserved mountain area is an awesome neighbor and I love going hiking there and to be outside. It’s free parking too which is good :)

A+ Trails, A+Nature, A+ maintenance, and A+ Free Parking. The trail head at Wood Ranch Parkway and Long Canyon in Wood Ranch is one of the best local gateways to a vast range of mountains that run from Thousand Oaks down to the San Fernando Valley to the East and the old Ahmanson Ranch and the Chumash Indian Museum to the South. I use these trails to go running in the morning when I don’t have time to drive over to the YMCA. This well preserved mountain range is home to abundant wildlife to include eagles, hawks, owls, coyotes, deer, racoons, squirrels, field mice, rabbits(herds; in great numbers), bobcats, and mountain lions. They also have a good number of rattlesnakes that come out in Spring and Summer so during these times it’s best to wear boots and blue jeans, but shorts will work if you have boots and thick socks to give you some protection in the event of an unanticipated encounter. I have seen all but the mountain lions, but there are plenty of warning signs about them and the snakes. The trails are well marked and well maintained here. The entry trail into the preserve is a little challenging as it goes almost straight up for about a mile and then crosses into a beautiful valley with multiple choices for various trails that branch off in various directions. Weekdays you will only find an occasional hiker or runner, on the weekends, plan on making way for multiple mountain bikers and an occasional horseman, as this area of Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks is home to multiple horse properties. There is plenty of free parking at the trail head located adjacent to the intersection of the two roads mentioned above. This location is nature at its best and is well worth an early morning hike. Plan on bringing with you water, hiking boots, or cross trainer shoes, a small backpack, sunscreen, and some snacks if you plan on tackling one of these trails. Every time I end up here, I plan on quick 1-hour runs or short 2-hour hikes but end up losing myself in the beauty and closeness to nature and end up spending at least half the day up here. Hit me up on Unilocal if you ever want to meet up and go for a nice hike in this area as I enjoy hiking here when not surfing.

Great starting point to miles of different trails(Sunrise trail, Autumn Ridge trail, Lang Ranch Ridge, Meadow View). Some trails are fire roads, others are hiking/biking trails. Some benches. Lots of runners. Beautiful area! Let’s use it and protect it :)
