Old Stone Inn

We use to go here regularly and I do like the atmosphere so I’ve given it numerous opportunities to wow again. Every time we’re more and more dissapointed then the last. The chicken was so overcooked you could see the threads when you’d pull it apart. The service was good but they weren’t knowledgable about the wine or food. It’s way overpriced for the food you actually get, the quality is terrible. It’s just gone so downhill over time. I reached out to management one time about our meal and got no response either so it doesn’t seem like they care. The food definitely shows it.

To ownership and management. just try A LITTLE!
It is rather easy to put together good food assuming you have a «chef». Chicken that is first cousin to rubber, potatoes that are just poorly prepared and accompaniments which don’t even match up to what you can get at the neighborhood fast food service joint is what I have experienced.
Your spot could be a romantic, sought out and in-​demand restaurant if you get it together. Translation, you are chasing business away, not attracting repeat business.

I used to go to this place with my family quite often about 10 – 12 years ago, the food was always great and it was always a treat. My girlfriend and I decided to try it last night and we both were very disappointed. The staff was more than friendly and we had great service, no complaints there at all, but the food was mediocre at best. The hot brown should have blown me away for $ 17, but sadly did not. The only vegetarian dish was also quite lackluster. There are so many better southern restaurants in the Louisville area, I’d skip over the old stone inn.

Now for the «rest of the story.» I’m sorry but with spending almost $ 200 for dinner for 5, there is no reason to charge me $ 0.75 for ordering a drink NEAT. So you are going to charge me for NOT putting ice in my drink? That’s ridiculous.
OK​.so we were celebrating a birthday. They don’t supply cake, so we brought our own. Then they charged $ 5 for supplying 5 plates? Again, ridiculous.
They also brought the wrong wine (of course a much more expensive bottle) for which I got charged.
I don’t mind spending money for good food and good service, but don’t nickle and dime me to death.
I could have put up with the entire thing, but the $ 0.75 for no ice in a drink was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Save yourself the effort to drive all the way out there, and try a better restaurant, with a more customer centric atmosphere in Louisville.

Great southern cooked food and cozy atmosphere. I ordered shrimp and grits and my husband chose their burger. They were superb. The grits had a little kick and jumbo grilled shrimp. We will be visiting again!

If I am out in the area, this is a good place for a quiet and filling dinner with friends. It is in a historic home in Simpsonville and is very charming and traditional in décor. The rolls are a perfect way to wait on your meal to arrive. I had the shirmp and grits last time I went, and loved it. They did a great job with one of my favorite meals! The food quality and friendly staff has always been consistent and it is nice to know you can count on a tasty and sophisticated meal, even out in the middle of Simpsonville.

A historical home turned into a restaurant, the Old Stone Inn has a comforting, old timey vibe around it, welcoming guests in with old fashioned hospitality and old fashioned home cooked food. The food was fine, but nothing special at all. The chicken salad sandwich I had was good, and had a hint of fried chicken about it which was yummy! This place is a good place to grab a quick and filling lunch and maybe their dinner menu is more interesting than their lunch menu is. I might have to try it again.
