I was so excited when the HoneyBaked Ham Company came to Simpsonville! First, I love the ham and second, this will save me a trip to Greenville! We ordered our holiday ham from this store for Thanksgiving and picked it up with no problem. Great customer service, samples were offered, friendly employees, overall a good experience. However, the reason I gave my experience tonight a two star is this: I entered the store at 6:07pm, the store wasn’t busy at all. One table of 3 men who looked as if they were having a meeting and two ladies standing off to the side. I walked up behind them and they immediately said they had already ordered. So, I stepped up to the counter. The counter was messy — receipts that folks left laying there, no dinner rolls on display, not the look as I had notice on a previous visit. A polite young lady stepped up and asked if she could help me. I asked for a container of ham salad, which she turned around and pulled a container from the cooler. I then asked for dinner rolls — she stepped into the small hallway where 2 people were making sandwiches. She spoke to an older lady(who I assume was the manager), they exchanged words and the young lady comes back to me and asks if I want croissants or the regular rolls. I said croissants please. The young lady goes back to the older woman, they exchange words and the young lady comes back to me and states that the rolls come in packages of 6, would that be ok? I said yes. That entire scenario took about 3 mins when it should have only taken 30 seconds. The distance from the register to the sandwich counter is about 3 steps distance. The hold up was due to a young man who was also making sandwiches. He was talking to the older lady about why he was in a bad mood. I heard every word that both of them said. It was a non productive, non work related and certainly not the time or place to have this discussion. The young lady then went to the back to get my rolls. In the meantime, the older woman walks up to the counter and asked if my items had been rung up. Now, as a manager should you ask the customer or should you look at the register and figure it out? I told the older woman that I was waiting on my ham — which by the way, they had to slice because they didn’t have any ready to sell. The older lady proceeds to tell me that she’s training and they’re busy and she’s having to do everything, blah, blah, blah. I really don’t care what she was doing — I just wanted a simple order that should have taken less than 5 mins to run in and pick up. Oh, the two ladies that were standing off to the side… they are still standing off to the side. Finally, my ham arrives and the young lady apologized several times about the wait. The older woman comes back up to the register and said, I’m going to give you 10% off because you had to wait. I told her that I didn’t want the 10% and she never says anything else to me — just turns around and walks away. I was in the store for about 20 mins. I ordered 3 items for a total of $ 29.47. I certainly hope that The HoneyBaked Ham Company pays close attention to this store. I want it to be successful and last a long time! I plan to return for our Christmas ham. However, with experiences as I had tonight — the word of month reviews won’t help bring business in. Please HoneyBaked Ham — make the Simpsonville store shine again! Thank you!
