O my gosh completely and totally my kind of place. Small and adorable with little twinkle lights and a patio. This will be a must everytime I’m in sisters

Great experience! Lunch was wonderful – cheese platter, warm beet salad and pear flatbread served with a great Oregon Pinot Noir. Our server was fantastic and the atmosphere was beautiful!

I am so happy to post this positive review. My daughter and I went for her birthday lunch today and everything –the corn, sweet potato and salmon chowder, and the salads were excellent. A really intelligent wines by the glass list. Can’t wait to go back and sit in the sunshine and have lunch

What a fantastic lunch I had here. Just enough originality to make things interesting but not weird and everything fresh fresh fresh. How I would make a lunch if I could cook, grow my own vegetables, catch fish and make my own wine. Anytime I’m back in the area I’ll go here.

What a great place! With happy employees who create an atmosphere that is so welcoming. The soups are filled with love and the sandwiches are delicious. As I asked about the business model, and how this family owned business supports their staff and community, the food tasted even better to me.

You take the good with the not as good here. When we walked in there were lots of empty tables, but we didn’t have a reservation so we were seated in what had to be the most uncomfortable spot in the place. My seat was in the doorway, a rickety wooden high chair with a horrible cushion that I could not get right under my butt. The menu is interesting. The cauliflower dip was really tasty. The salmon was cooked to perfection but the polenta was inedible. It was more like a cream of wheat. The vegetarian dish was also a mix of good and bad. Not sure what the theme is here other than to be eclectic. There is some neat artwork to take in and a nice looking patio. Too bad it was a bit too chilly to sit out there.

Great small town atmosphere! Our waitress, Emily, did a great job walking us through the menu and gave us wine pairing for each of the food orders we considered. We would absolutely go back!

I think this restaurant is cute given it’s in an art gallery. The selection was good and the service friendly. My only complaint is that they sat my husband and I in a narrow walkway for two, and the table was so tiny and the chairs didn’t sit evenly and was uncomfortable. Next time when we return we will request a different table.

Amazing atmosphere. Amazing food. Extremely friendly service(we’ve NEVER had a grumpy server here, ever). Gorgeous artwork on every wall. Thoughtfully selected draft beers and wines. Live music, nearly every time we’ve visited. If a restaurant gets better than this, PLEASE tell me where it is. We’ve lived in Bend for 5 years and this is hands-down our favorite restaurant. Thank you thank you for being open to serve us. I can’t wait to be back.

Loved this place! Not a big menu or big restaurant but the food was delicious. The tomato soup was one of the best I’ve ever tasted and the Panini sandwich had perfectly toasted bread and fresh ingredients. I definitely recommend the salad with fruit and nuts. All of this yumminess with a nice glass of wine was divine.

We ate at The Open Door twice recently. My first occasion was for a WONDERFUL dinner, complete with an excellent Duckhorn Merlot(personally suggested by owner Julia Rickards), and a sampling of wonderful desserts. We started with Roasted Brussel Sprouts. Now you’ve got to understand that I really dislike Brussel Sprouts. Really can’t stand them. I’m opposed to them almost as much as I am Lima Beans. This lifelong conviction was about to change! When Julia and her daughter Emily suggested Brussel Sprouts, I went in kicking and screaming. But, they were FANTASTIC! So much so, that we’ve even purchased Brussel Sprouts here at home, on purpose, and have cooked them like The Open Door did. I’m a new Brussel Sprouts fan, done up The Open Door way at least, and that credit is due The Open Door. Thank you! I then very much enjoyed the Greek Salad. You’ve got to try that! It’s a fantastic blend of greens, cherry tomatoes, garbanzo beans, olives, feta cheese and other garden ingredients. The excellent vinaigrette, orange-infused if I recall, really tied everything together. Excellent. I had a daily special version of their House Lasagna. I was thrilled with the balance of ingredients and pasta layers. Sometimes in Lasagna, the pasta overtakes the ingredients or vice versa, but that definitely wasn’t the case with this wonderful dish! Everything was perfectly prepared with careful attention to not overcooking the pasta. The serving size was perfect, the temperature well-calculated, and the result was a wonderful plate, perfectly blending its many complimentary flavors. In other words: it was AMAZING!!! Having had such a terrific experience for dinner, we went back for lunch the next day. I tried the Tuscan Panini, and was not disappointed! It was delicious and very unique! On sourdough bread, you’ll find an ample serving of well-smoked chicken breast, along with tomato, avocado and spinach. It was topped off with my favorite Pepper Jack cheese, giving this tasty offering a little punch. I remember commenting that I wished I’d had two stomachs so I could have enjoyed TWO of these!!! My wife and daughter went back a third time, after I had to depart for a business trip. But, I’ll let them tell of that third excellent encounter! The attached Clearwater Art Gallery is filled with beautiful and varied art from a number of local artists, including Dan Rickards, co-owner of the gallery and the restaurant. Dan and Julia are the wonderful parents of Emily, whom you’ll also find at the restaurant on many occasions! To top it all off, The Open Door has a philanthropic bent, and while we were there, they were actively supporting the Circle of Friends mentoring program for vulnerable kids. Adults in that program are very intentional about engaging early in kids lives, serving as positive role models, and remaining committed over the long haul to the success of each child in the program. Bravo Open Door!

This last time was a little bit of a let down. We had to wait for a table for four people outside(because of our dog) for about fifteen minutes but the table they ended up seating us at was unoccupied the entire time. They ran out of their special panini which is strange considering I’m pretty sure the ingredients are found in other dishes on the menu. The vegetable panini I had instead was decent, but small. Lots of flies outside and we asked for a refill of iced tea and never got it. Think I’d try something else next time.

The Open Door is a must stop for visitors and locals alike. Enjoyed my favorite beet salad and ham sammie for lunch and it was excellent, as usual. We had a large party and the service and gardens were wonderful. And the art… wow! Thanks to the Rickard’s for the delicious cuisine, wine and casual, welcoming atmosphere.

I just had to come back 2 nights in a row! The food is top notch, staff are friendly and helpful locals, and the ambiance is perfect for sitting back and enjoying one of their specialty cocktails or any of the delicious wines on their rotating menu. The Open Door really is the full package! I had the Emmy Bleu salad with smoked salmon the first night and followed up with the beet salad on the second night. They were both so delicious that I couldn’t begin to pick a favorite! Quilt festival goers will also be especially interested in the abundance of art and handcrafted items to peruse and purchase.

We had asked one of the proprietors of the Hens Tooth what are the good places to eat around Sisters. She recommended The Open Door. Needless to say we were not disappointed one bit! This is my new favorite restaurant in Central Oregon. We were seated outside on the deck. It was a lovely, sunny day. The atmosphere was delightful & calming, the music was so perfect & our waitress was so calm & soothing! We felt as though we were in a different world! I had the beet salad & o-m-g. SOGOOD! We also got the cheese board for 50% off for checking in on Unilocal!Everything was delicious & perfect! I even went to their art section & bought my dad & Father’s Day painting & card. The owners are so friendly & welcoming! I can’t wait to come back!
