First, regarding the closed comment. They used to have a number of stores. They have closed at least the one that I originally went to: Hillsborough. The pictures here are of the main store which is still open in Skillman. I like the meats and I’m glad there is a place where I can get grass fed burgers and steaks. But that’s the reason for only 3 stars as well. They frequently don’t have the items advertised. For example 2 weeks ago i went for a bunch of burgers and some tenderloin. They had neither. I was promised both would be available the following Tuesday. They also wrote down my name and what I wanted. I went on Tue getting there a few minutes after they opened. Again they didn’t have either item. Getting ready for the third trip(again promised they would have the items). If you can get what you want, I recommend them.

It is most definitely still OPEN… I was just there today. I have been searching for a REAL butcher for years. It’s a dream to find a grassfed butcher like this. Every cut is customizable and they have items that you could never find in a grocery store or farmers market. Perfect example, I purchased Pork cheek’s today. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for especially when it comes to meat. They are not cheap, but neither is their product. Well worth the extra money in terms of flavor and TRULY knowing where your food is coming from! Real farm to table!

Closed forever. Great food but it’s hard for anything to survive in this local out of the way shopping center.

I’ve been looking for a place that has humanely raised, grass-fed meat. Finally, I think I found it. This place has halal lamb and can special order halal beef. I’m excited to give it a try.

Picked up a filet at the location in Stockton’s farmers market and is was simply the best piece of meat I’ve ever eaten. Delicious, tender, yummy.

I’ve been in search of a place like this for a long time and I finally found it! I live about 30 – 40 minutes from this business and I happened to have a doctors appointment about 20 minutes away. I’ve been looking for a local or semi local old fashioned style butcher shop(other than on line) that offers high end cuts of meat. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful but what I really liked the most is being able to see the cutting operation and have direct contact with the butchers. Its how things used to be and I for one love the personal service touch that you get when dealing with these types of places. Its so simple and I have no idea why we’ve gotten away from these types of small businesses. While the prices of the products are expensive, without a doubt its definitely worth it. There is no comparison to this meat and what’s offered in supermarkets. I was a first time customer yesterday and after dinner i’m now a lifelong customer. Im returning over the weekend with my father in law and im sure he’s going to be happy he no longer will have to order on line for his steaks anymore.

Top notch grass fed beef and other quality meats and local produce. Lucky to have Mallerys in the neighborhood… it’s one of a kind.

This is the most amazing butcher shop imaginable. 1. The beef is top quality organic grass finished(100% grass fed) in contrast to grocery shop«grass fed» which basically means nothing. 2. Meats are fresh! Really fresh. 3. They butcher their meat, so you can have any cut you fancy 4. The people are seriously the most friendly and helpful people on earth. You get to expand your meat horizons and try some amazing new cuts I’m not a big steak person, but I can comment on the quality of ribs, offal, bones and other more peculiar cuts. For example, we cook a lot of bone marrow soup, with other vendors, including other organic grass fed bones, the soup would come out quite rich, but it’s nothing compared to Mallery’s marrow bones. The soup would get opaque, extremely rich, and very aromatic(umami). The taste is also astonishingly more complex and rounder. The same amount of bones yield around 1x more stock than other bones. I’m not sure why there is such a huge difference, but it’s very noticeable. The butchers are super knowledgable, and their suggestions usually yield fantastic results in the kitchen. It’s also nice that they basically cut your meat however you want it, for example, when we get ribs, we like them in inch-long pieces, which means they saw everything up for us. If you want something specific, you can also set it up so that they’ll give you a call when the cut arrives, so you get it freshest possible. We tried this with beef heart. Dan is our go-to butcher there. He’s seriously the best butcher and the nicest person ever. Hungry for some top quality meat? This is definitely the place.

I stopped at the Hillsborough location for a sandwich today. First, the place is ADORABLE. It’s nice to see that space being used well, because the previous three businesses in that location had major décor issues. The woman behind the counter was super friendly, and I got the feeling that she’d be happy to tell me about any of the stuff they had in the case. But I just wanted a sandwich, and got a BLT with their organic bacon and home-made mayo. DUDE — I want to eat 10lbs of that bacon RIGHTNOW. It was SOGOOD. Even the tomato was good, and it’s not even time for good tomatoes yet! And it came with seasoned sweet potato wedges, which was a nice touch. The whole menu looks extremely intriguing, and I’m looking forward to stopping in for breakfast one day to try their crepes.

Top of the chain here. 1. Shoprite 2. Wegmans 3. Whole Foods 4. Local Butcher 5. Organic farm that sells grass fed beef direct My journey for the best meats has brought me here. My expectations were high and my wallet was ready to be emptied. I purchased a little over 3lbs of London Broil. The butcher said«it was alive 1 week ago and was hanging till this morning». Wow on the bone literally hours ago. It looked amazing, so soft like a giant piece of Fillet Mignon. Cost me $ 61 but I intended to feed 7 people. I thought it would cook quickly but boy was I off. It took actually twice as longs as I expected. The flavor was amazing but it was so so so tough and hard to chew. There is no aging process for these meats, There is only a matter of days between the live cow and your dinner table. I would recommend going for a naturally softer cut of meat and maybe beat it first. This is my plan so look out for an update on this place. I’m not giving up yet.

You can get the full history of this store on their website. The short version is that they offer organic, grass fed meed and local organic produce. This is a butcher, you can basically get any cut you want and they’ll prepare it for you on the spot. They will also vacuum pack it for you if you want. And just in case I didn’t say it, everything is organic and grass fed. The prices are high but if you join their membership you can get between 15 and 30% discount on their products. Gold membership(30% discount) is $ 99 per year. Silver is less but only 15% discount. The quality, taste and freshness of the meat is outstanding. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and hard working. Highest recommendation.
