Very nice dinner at Tokyo tonight. Sushi was excellent, fresh, and inventive. Rice with Chicken Teriyaki was dried out… better on our previous visit. Manager/server did not seem too pleased that we had children with us which is a shame because the kids have always loved this restaurant and we used to dine here quite frequently. New menu is missing some old favorites.

We are new to the area, so we didn’t know this place under old management. We came in for a late lunch/early dinner and really enjoyed the sushi and appetizer that we had. One of our favorite rolls was the Aloha roll, which was cucumber wrapped salmon, seaweed, mango & tuna. Very light and creative. Since it was so early, we had great service & the waiter had good suggestions. We will certainly be back!

Walked in after checking out the the shops in Skippack. we decided to have a late lunch .And found this place set back across a small covered bridge and over a wooden foot bridge behind a parking lot. Yeah, no kidding. I had the sushi dinner with miso soup, everything tasted very fresh and delicious. My wife had the shrimp tempura which she said was absolutely wonderful. If quality continues we might become regulars there. Also now under new ownership.

Disappointed this time around with Toyko! I’ve always gotten a Kani salad which has been $ 7.50(already high priced for a Kani salad to begin as most places charge between $ 5-$ 7) I ordered it as take out and they rang it up as $ 10.55. I asked the lady if I can speak to someone, if there was a manager, and she just shrugged her shoulders and said«I don’t know, that’s just what I was told to ring it up as.» So I said again«Can I talk to anybody else?» And she shook her head no. I’m still rating this a 4 because I typically have a nice server and food, however she didn’t even apologize. This is the smallest Kani salad I’ve ever gotten here too :-(

We love this Japanese restaurant. But they need to clean ALL the AC vents. They are so dusty! YUCK.

I had reservations for myself and my family on 5÷30÷15 at 7:30pm. This was to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. Asked for seating outside. When we got there at 7:25, no outside seating available so they set up a table under the gazebo where a bunch of carpenter bees had made nests and proceeded to forget about us. After 20 minutes, we flagged someone down, got them to give us a table inside and they took our drink order. 30 minutes later, our drinks came. One soda was watered down because the ice melted and the other was missing carbonation. My alcoholic drink was mostly water because of melted ice. When they came with drinks, we ordered appetizers and meals because we didn’t know when they would be back. We never got our appetizers, our food was brought staggered so not one person ate together and half the food was cold. And the stuff that was supposed to be cold, wasnt. All told, we spent over two hours there, much of it waiting and about ten minutes eating. I don’t think I will ever go there again.

Set back form the main street in Skippack this place is not easily seen but it’s well worth looking for. The outside is a small wooden platform with tables and tiki torches when it gets dark and which could be generic for pretty much any casually themed restaurant. Inside is air conditioned, certainly a plus on a close night. the inside is a cleaner, sharper more traditional Japanese motif. I had the soft shell crab appetizer and this had a nice slightly sweet taste. Not over powering but noticeable enough to let you know you’re having something just a little bit different. and it was tasty. for a main course my wife had the volcano chicken and after she got over the shock of the high level of spiciness, something not common in Japanese food, she enjoyed it. I had the teriyaki seafood platter which listed shrimp, salmon and scallops. I honestly expected a large piece of salmon off set with a couple of shell fish but it really was a nicely balanced amount of the different fish and I enjoyed it. The one odd thing was the drinks here. We were not offered any water and they have some very good cocktails but no beer, wine or, weirdly, sake. so if you want any of these, bring your own. The staff was a little… odd. when my wife and I walked n we did not have a reservation and the man behind the desk said he would see if they could fit us in. This would not be out of place except there was NOONE seated at ANY of the tables. I avoided making a sharp comment, who says I can’t be diplomatic, and during the course of the evening the tables were never filled. Once seat the service was very good except when they brought out the main course while we were still eating our very good soup. They were not trying to rush us out the door because when we were done, I had to go looking for someone to ask for the bill. apart from this though, my wife and I had a very nice evening with both enjoying our meals so the people in the kitchen know their business, they just need to give a prode to the front of the house.

Although this restaurant is a little bit pricey, I found the food to be absolutely delicious. I got the volcano tofu as my entrée which was amazing, perfectly fried and a generous heaping portion(not too spicy but with a kick). This entrée also came with a salad and miso soup, making it a great deal for $ 16. My friends got sushi rolls which came beautifully decorated with little ornaments made from ginger and carrots. The service was a little bit slow, We had to ask for our check multiple times. I highly recommend the tofu entrée, if you’ve never tried it before.

Not terrible, but not great. In all honesty, I’m not a huge fan of Japanese food, but good friends were in the mood for sushi. They seemed to enjoy it. I ordered shrimp tempura… good, albeit a bit greasy. We dined outside, but the entire deck and tables seem worn. That theme carries over into the interior… it all just appears dated and neglected. The waitstaff were friendly, but seemed scattered. We had to ask for napkins, they forget to add our drinks to the tab. Good thing we are honest, because it constituted a sizable portion of our bill. There were very few patrons there on a Saturday evening. The place has potential, but really needs an overhaul.

Some of the best service in Skippack(not saying much, but these guys run from kitchen to table). Food is very tasty. Try the steak nagimaki. Fantastic. Alcohol prices a bit high. Menu is just the right size, not trying to do too much.

From what I’ve heard, this place use to be the best spot in the area! Not so much any more. The few times I’ve been there, it’s really hard to believe that it was a hot spot. The wait staff is slow, at least the waiter that seems to always waits on my table. The last 2 times we were sat in a timely matter but the tables had to be wiped down right before you sat. Forget about getting even a glass of water and your beverage of choice before your appetizer comes out. Our appetizer, which tastes the best when it first comes out, got cold because the sauce was not served with it right away. The food itself is ok but nothing to rave around. I actually saw a table leave the last time because it took so long to get any attention. I’ve been to many Japanese Sushi Restaurants and this is probably one of the worse experiences. Third time was the charm to NOT ever go back again.

I ordered a chirashi here. The ambiance is great especially with the outdoor seating area but the food is very average and everything is over-priced. There are several other great sushi restaurants not too far from Tokyo Japanese Restaurant and they do significantly a better job with the quality of their dish compared to tokyo japanese. Overall it was slightly disappointing.

This is a pretty good sushi place in Skippack. I tend to think many restaurants in Skippack are a bit overpriced. For lunch this is a great place to go. Service was pretty good and the food presentation was good as well. The sushi was decent. I may return if I’m in the Skippack area again.

We had a great dining experience! The food was amazing. I ordered the Miso Soup and loved it. Got the Blackened Tuna Appetizer and yum! Also I had the Seaweed Salad, and that was so good. We ate with the chopsticks and it was fun! We dined outside and were served by Harry who was extremely attentive and friendly and gave great service. I highly recommend this restaurant, the inside is really nice, and the outside deck is so pretty.

Excellent atmosphere. Great place to spend an evening with the one you love. The service and food were the best. Took the advice of one of the reviewers and ordered the Flaming Dragon Roll. We weren’t disappointed. We will definitely be making this a regular spot.

My mother, sister-in-law, and I had dinner at Tokyo last night and we had a delicious, reasonably priced meal and prompt, friendly service. The sushi was fresh and very tasty. It was a Monday evening at 5:30 and we happened to be the only customers in the restaurant. By the time we left at 6:45, there were a few other people who chose to sit outside. The grounds are peaceful and pretty. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helped us select rolls that the three of us could share. I will be back with my husband.

I had a pretty decent Sashimi lunch at Tokyo. It was late afternoon on a Fri and I was the only person in the entire restaurant for the majority of the time. The sashimi was served with soup, salad(too my americanized mayo ginger dressing) but the sashimi served with a bowl of rice was good. The quality of the Tuna, Salmon and fluke? was good and it was well cut. Not Bluefin or Fuji(in Haddonfield) good, but certainly good for the area. There were two Sushi chefs who seemed of Japanese origin and the older, more senior chef prepared my sashimi.

Tokyo Japanese Restaurant serves Japanese cuisine.(Surprised?) They offer a sushi bar, liquor license, outdoor seating, and pretty«authentic» looking décor for a Japanese restaurant. Service was below average considering the venue size(not large), the number of wait staff on the premises(there were multiple), and the lack of other diners(it was a rainy day). Sushi was lackluster. I’m not sure I’d return anytime soon… anyone have any better experiences here?
