Alexander’s is pretty decent. Think of this like a bog standard café that offers some variation of continental breakfasts, ordered piece by piece as desired. That’s basically what this is. So that means — you can get a bunch of omelettes and skillets a bunch of ways that you’d get at every other similar continental breakfast style(probably greek owned) restaurant place. Now, the parts that at least put this a reasonable step above are: the booths are awesome for people who babywear or have kids that cruise(in my case, it was both). Also, the food comes out pretty quickly and there are plenty of seats. Quality is also decent. I think if it wasn’t for the booths being spacious enough to wear my daughter in front of me while eating, I wouldn’t have even considered this place to be pretty good.

Absolutely delicious Aztec skillet. Perfect balance of sweet, spicy and savory. Service was great as well, though it probably helps to have the table literally next to the bussing station. Only gets a star knocked off for okay coffee, not too great pancakes, and a lack of tea and jam varieties.

DONOTUSEYOURCREDITCARD at this establishment. my card had a $ 100 unauthorized charge to best buy after i used my card there and a month later, my aunt used her credit card here and she had an unauthorized $ 760 plane ticket charged to her card! PAYCASHONLY or risk the consequences! i called and spoke to the manager after what happened to me and he said he’d look into it but didn’t seem all that concerned. my aunt called and spoke to the owner after her card was compromised and it was more of the same. they have a problem with thieves working for them and need to do something about it, ASAP! now, as far as the food and prices are concerned, i’d probably give them 5 stars. 4 at the very least. but this nonsense with their waitstaff skimming credit cards is a big, big problem.

Dry Pancakes. Dry old roasted potatoes. Coffee without any flavor. Expensive. Nice location about one block away from Annie’s Pancake house.

I really like the food here! A little on the swanky side for Skokie and I dig it. The Sunday brunch menu looks awesome although I ate here on a Saturday so I didn’t indulge on that just yet. 4 stars for menu options, ingredients and location. Also I loved our server. He was very sweet and attentive. Lost 1 star because of how crowded it is. I was originally offered a table right in front of the door which normally I would have taken, although the ppl waiting to be seating just huddle near the front door and there is NO huddle space! So u have ppl with all their coats and belongings huddling around the front tables. Bad news! Puts a damper on the meal when a bunch of strangers are sitting on ur lap. My recommendation… The back of the restaurant had a huge open area near the bathrooms. Put a few benches back there and viola, problem solved! Although it will not prevent me from returning as long as I get a table away from folks waiting to be seated.

What a delightful surprise this little breakfast and brunch place is! We stumbled upon it thanks to Unilocal. They provide breakfast options with a Latin twist. The menu is always changing, but they keep the best standard options around. The Brunch Skillet is my favorite with pork belly and runny eggs… YUM! The Lemon Crunch Mascarpone Crepes are gluten free, but don’t be turned off; so creamy and flavorful. Short Rib Benedict, rotating French Toast and breakfast burritos always hit the spot. And finally a place that serves my favorite Milwaukee coffee, Colectivo. Just waiting for one to open in Chicago, but happy to drive to Alexander’s in the meantime! :-) Please visit and enjoy. Even the service is pleasant, and not rushed.

BATHROOMSDON’T LOCK? LOL. Went there for the first time today, food was decent, not the greatest. Had the braised beef eggs benedict as well as the vanilla latte french toast. The actual bread from the french toast was very dry, although the outside was quite delicious(it literally felt like they soaked some bread in cream and only the outside got it and the inside was just regular bread). The eggs benedict were decent, not too shabby. The worst part was after the meal had the need to hit the restroom and so I am sitting there on my phone and I had locked the door but guy still managed to open it and and of course we were both surprised. Keep in mind it’s Easter Sunday, the place is packed. A few more guys attempted to walk in while I was quickly wiping my butt and rushing out of the bathroom. As I walked past the food line and kitchen, I told the staff«Hey, can you guys tell the management bathroom door doesn’t lock?» and everyone just kinda looked at me without really caring. I did say it loud enough to allow customers to hear me, on purpose. On the way past the host, there were 3 girls up front and I said it once again«Hey, FYI the men’s room lock doesn’t work» Her response? «yeah, neither does the women’s» as she shook her head acknowledging my struggle. Really guys? Anyone can just walk into either bathroom? That’s a bit absurd that management can’t put a real door handle on there with a lock. You guys are making great money, give me a break here and fix that $hit.

Happy 2016! I knew just the perfect place to start the first day of 2016 and that is to try Alexander’s for the second time:) My son and I have had a wonderful experience the first time we tried the place a few months ago and we’ve been looking forward to come back, so we did today:) We got to the place a little early(8:30am) so there were only a few tables occupied. I did not want to wait in line outside because of the freezing temp that’s why it’s a great idea to get there as early as you could. they do not take reservations. Here is a breakdown and a few pictures of our heavenly breakfast: KANELAFRENCHTOAST– oops! he did it again. My son remembered how good they were so he ordered the same thing. 3 thick slices of sweet deliciousness:) BACONANDASPARAGUSSANDWICH — I was planning to take home half of the sandwich but I just could not put my food down. Amazing flavors of sun dried tomatoes, blue cheese, thick bacon, slices of asparagus, and, and, and… a fried egg… All these in between sourdough bread… and, and, and… side of their wonderful roasted potatoes… can you blame me for finishing my whole sandwich?! ROASTEDPOTATOES– we had to order an extra side of these potatoes because they are perfectly seasoned and cooked… no matter how hard I try to «copy» their potatoes, I admit that hands down, they have the best roasted potatoes! Overall, solid 5 stars. The place is small but neat, with simple and cute interiors, awesome service, amazing coffee, reasonable prices, and seriously delicious food.

Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find out about this place. I got the Toluca Scramble(because I can’t resist any menu item that hints at spiciness), and bottomless coffee. The scramble was very tasty, probably one of the better scrambles I’ve had. The coffee was hot and kept on coming. My friend and I sat there for about 2 hours, just eating and chatting. We never once felt rushed. Solid breakfast joint in Downtown Skokie!

I woke up early & found this diner on Unilocal & the pictures sure did look yummy. The boyfriend & I had the classic benedict as well as the Tuscany skillet. The poached eggs on the benedict were a little well done if anything, but better than underdone I guess. The spinach was a nice touch but I wish there was more hollandaise. The hollandaise was a bit runny & flavorless. The English muffin was super thick & unappetizing. I got the side of fruit instead of potatoes for an up charge of $ 1.50. The fruits consisted of mainly mushy pear & apple with a few blueberries & strawberries, emphasize few. The Tuscany skillet was decent because of the skirt steak. The meat was cooked nice but if there was more meat ratio to potatoes then I’d give it a 5 out of 5. The potatoes were nicely seasoned but who wants a potato skillet for $ 10.95. The polenta slice that everyone seems to rave about tasted like a dry tamale. not impressed. After dining the total plus tip was $ 31… Pretty damn pricey for a breakfast for two & portion wise doesn’t seem justifiable to me. Probably wont be a repeating customer.

I love diners like this! This is my family’s go-to place for after Church breakfast/brunch! The price is really affordable with big plating. The food is amazing, it has that home-cooked feeling but they are all so good! Especially, it is not greasy! My parents love the skillets, any skillet! And I love their fruity breakfast options. Pancakes are light and fluffy. The fruits they use are always sweet and the sweet drizzles are just right. The only thing is they get packed sometimes, which is a good sign because people love them. And it is very difficult to find a parking in the neighborhood. But besides that, it is the perfect spot to bring the family :₩

Bright space with a kitsch interior comprised of strawberry pendant lights and a huge wall mural of fruit and vegetables. Forward thinking menu items made with fresh ingredients. My vegetarian skillet was comprised of butternut squash, sautéed leeks and Cremini mushrooms, asparagus, and house roasted tomatoes. All the veggies were combined with their«breakfast potatoes»(sautéed and roasted Redskins) topped with creamy goat cheese and two eggs prepared the way you like them. The only offputting thing was pieces of fresh rosemary leaf(along with some of the woody branches) that were impossible to chew up! Terrific coffee(waitress told me they get it from Wisconsin… can you picture coffee beans growing next to those cheese curds ?? Great service.

I’m visiting for the first time. My wife loves this place so she thought it would be a good idea to bring me along. I love good food and good service. So I got the homemade cornbeef hash with two over medium eggs. I’m anxiously awaiting my plate. Best corn beef hash I have ever eaten!!! I’ll be back…

Should have went to Annie’s down the street. I don’t hate this place. But I don’t like it either. It’s that weird in the middle feeling. I’ll just stick to my experience there. Here were the positives: attentive friendly service Good coffee(a big plus for breakfast) Now the bad(or just unimpressive): The salmon lox tasted cheap. The egg with the egg Benedict was undercooked The hollandaise sauce was runny The potatoes were ehhhh The breakfast burrito had no flavor, no pow factor. The spinach tasted odd. Almost bitter. I am in no hurry to come back here with so many other great breakfast places in the area. This one was just not for me.

Thank you, Unilocal! My friends and I went to play mini-golf on Saturday and needed a place for brunch. Unilocal suggested this place. Ambiance: colorful and cheery. It’s quite condensed inside, and while we were waiting we were standing super close to tables. But, there’s no space for chairs. Not really a big deal, though. We only had to wait 5 – 10 minutes at 11:30 on a Saturday, so not too bad. Food: Delicious. I had a Belgian waffle($ 7) and my friends had the Latin omelette(special of the day, $ 11) and French omelette($ 10). Their omelettes came with two pieces of toast and potatoes, which looked amazing. The waffle was perfectly light, while soft and crispy. Service: Solid. The waiter was nice, as was the host. Even though it was crowded, we weren’t rushed at all and everyone was friendly. I highly recommend. I will definitely be back.

In downtown Skokie, this is small little breakfast diner. Looking at reviews I heard everyone say the Mayan Benedict was amazing. Although that is on sunday brunch menu, they were able to make it for me on a weekday, which was great. Avocados, chorizo, plantains, and rice all topped off with a great sauce! Unlike any benedict I have ever had. I have also tried the Toluca scramble and that by far is my favorite. Its comes with chorizo, avocados, sour cream and 3 tortillas! Cant forget about the roasted brunch potatoes, they are really good. Wish they had more combos with pancakes though, but this is a solid breakfast spot in this area.

After trying their breakfast, I came for lunch. Just as good! I had a hard time deciding among the many unique and interesting dishes. Their fresh brewed iced tea was refreshing and delicious, and I decided on the carnitas torta, which was huge! Carnitas meat, eggs, avocado, and i don’t even know what kind of sauce was on it, but it was flavorful and had just the right amount of kick for my taste. See the picture I posted. It came with their breakfast potatoes. I dipped a few in Cholula and ketchup, but next time I will substitute for fruit. I looked around and the other lunches had equally interesting looking dishes. I plan to back again soon!

Oh hell naw! That’s all I can say. Awesome. Delicious. Inventive. Pretty. The best food I’ve had in a long time. I shudder to think what he could come up with if they were open for dinner. Is there a way I can give them 6 stars???
