This is not the first time I have called the store to check on an item before going in and once again I felt I was bothering the employee to ask if the item was in the store. This time, the women(who had a very strong accent) told me without checking stock that the item did not sound like something they had in the store yet. She didn’t even put me on hold to check stock, she just said NO. I am done with the Old Orchard store, I have never felt comfortable with the sales staff in the store, they always seemed bothered by customers that are either not regulars or friends. I will shop at Chico’s in Northbrook Court from now on, much friendlier staff always willing to help you with ANYTHING no matter how busy they are. Bye Bye OO, hello NBC!

F in Customer Service I needed to return a Christmas present that my middle daughter had purchased for her sister. Apparently, she wasn’t paying close attention to the styles at this store — - more suited to a middle-aged moneyed matron than a 13-year old. She didn’t think to ask for a gift receipt or save her receipt(she just doesn’t think that way — yet), but the tags were still on the clothing and I at least had the shopping bag she came home with. I wasn’t too concerned, since most stores are pretty forgiving about this kind of thing, especially when they know you’re not trying to rip them off. While I am squarely in Chico’s demographic, I clearly look like an REI or LL Bean customer. I can’t help but think that the same thought ran through the minds of the two ladies working there at 5:30 on a weeknight when no one else was in the store. I explained my situation to the clerk — who just shook her head. Another lady(the manager?) heard my sad tale and told me that without the original receipt, nothing could be done. «Really?», I said, «But what if I find the transaction on her Chase account? I’m sure she paid with a debit card.»(And I did.) No dice. They dismissed me in two minutes or less with a «I hope you find the receipt»(knowing I couldn’t) as I walked out the door. Furious that my $ 10/hour part-time worker/college student daughter had just wasted $ 64, I went to the Chico’s site to review their Return Policy. Sure enough, there was a path to redemption. After a couple of emails and phone calls with the customer service folks at HQs, I was able to return the merchandise and my daughter will eventually receive a credit. The customer service people at HQs were as great as the clerks(yes, I know that’s pejorative, but believe me there are worse labels floating around in my head for those two clowns) were terrible. So thank you, Marlene at Chico’s HQs … and clerks, how about knowing and sharing the company’s return policies?

Kinda wierd clothing at this place with weird patterns and designs. They have a very limited selection and prices are pretty steep. There’s really nothing appealing here for me!
