Dr. Shaw is not my gynecologist which is a blessing, but unfortunately I had the displeasure of dealing with him on a weekend after my normal doctor was out of the office. Not only did it take him 3 hours to get in touch w/me, I had him paged at least 3 – 4 times and then he finally responded) but once I got ahold of him he was extremely rude, unprofessional, and didn’t bother to listen to me as he screamed, «You need to call back on Monday.» I had to raise my voice louder than his(which I would never do towards a doctor, especially the other 3 who are all nice AND professional in this practice). He even used a reference about how he isn’t «laying on a beach somewhere and that is was the week of Christmas.» Excuse me, but I don’t bother doctors on off hours unless it IS urgent. I know they put in tons of hours. FYI, I pay most visits $ 500 for my annual and up to $ 300 for certain prescriptions so I’m not lying on a beach somewhere either and I DESERVE to be treated w/kindness and not have a stressed out doctor taking out his day on me. If he handled the call professionally he would have wasted less time than screaming at me. I had to raise my voice so he would actually LISTEN. On top of it, he kept saying that the prescription I wanted wouldn’t work. Again, I had to scream over him to be heard and tell him I’ve used it before AND it does. I’ve never dealt w/a doctor who is so rude, arrogant, and unprofessional, not to mention unknowledgeable. It is not my fault that he is stressed out. He chose to be a gynecologist knowing the commitment it took and NOW he wants to take it out on other doctor’s patients of the practice he is part of. If I didn’t love my doctor so much, this interaction would make me discontinue my service w/their practice. He is so rude and so ignorant. Avoid seeing him for anything! Use ANY of the other doctors in the practice. And if you call the service and he is on call, you are forewarned that is behavior will be extremely unprofessional, rude, and egotistical!
