Fun hike! Great trail in good condition and it even had a few options to make it easier or more challenging. The trail has tons of history, as mentioned. Fun waterfalls, cool old tunnels, nice viewpoint too. I recommend starting earlier in the day as it’s somewhat popular and the parking lot will fill up. I also recommend basking in to the parking spots to make it easier getting out.

This is a great trail. It follows an old railroad grade, so is a very gradual climb, lot’s of interesting artifacts along the way to look at, and quite a few tunnels to go through.

Fabulous walk in the woods especially for kids or anybody that has any interest in local history or railroads. Park up at Wellington near the cool big snowshed or for a longer walk park down at the new DOT interpretive site just 9 miles east of Skykomish right off hwy 2. No Forest Pass required at this new lot. They even have a refurbished Great Northern caboose there.

Nice trail that runs along side of Stevens Pass. Make sure to visit the old spooky tunnel overgrown now with weeds built in the 1800’s. Also visit the snowshed and the avalanche disaster site. The trail is well marked because of the volunteers. Lots to read on the history of the Wellington Ghost town at the pass at and also do a Google search. Makes for a nice day hike.

Cool trail near Stevens Pass… the web site says it all… I did some volunteer work last Saturday for National Trails Day… a new parking lot should be in by September… Rail trails are very cool! and not very steep(think about it) So check this out!
