I have been a member here for 13 years. When I first joined they were located in a much smaller building but have since moved into a much larger place. I’ve always enjoyed working out here. It never feels«clique-ish» like some of the other health clubs I’ve been to. There is an indoor saltwater pool, an outdoor saltwater pool, a woman’s only area with weight machines and treadmills, stationary bikes, and elliptical machines… a great steam room that I just LOVE to veg out in when my muscles are sore. Every group fitness class I’ve ever taken has been led by enthusiastic instructors who are encouraging and upbeat. All in all its a great fitness club and I will continue to remain a member for as long as I live in the area.

I joined this club during the 1mo $ 15 special. How #SWEET is that!!! Anyhow, my month ended all too soon. I went to the gym after work. Most times when I’ve been to other gyms, the pm hours are most crucial when trying to work out, but not this place. Here you’re able to get on a machine and stay for hours. It’s not that no one is utilizing the gym, it’s that the place is so large that there are other machines to use if the one you want is occupied. Schedules for workout classes are placed on the desk for your retrieval. There’s a heated pool, a cycling room, a 30 minute workout area, a dressing room where, I’ve personally seen a lady taking a nap, a woman’s only area… and did I mention it’s 24hours??? My only wish is that there was an affiliation to an athletic club in New Orleans where I live.

Our family thoroughly enjoys this club. Unlike other clubs they are serious about getting you in shape. If you are looking for guidance and a partner just ask there is help everywhere. My wife went through their Med Ex program to strengthen her back and the results have been unbelievable. Our family has experienced all the group classes and thoroughly enjoyed. Our entire family now attends and works out together. My 3 teenage kids enjoy the workout circuit with us a couple times a week. We highly recommend Slidell Athletic.

This is a decent club. It offers a lot for a low price($ 40/month plus the signing and annual fees, which aren’t large). I forget what the signing fee would be because I joined in January when the fee was only 19.99 and I haven’t paid the annual yet. It is $ 50-$ 60, I think… Anyway, the staff is very nice. I have been by both in the late mornings and late evenings and have never had a problem with finding an open machine. Also, they have a Vitality smoothie bar! I love those smoothies. However, the accomodations are definitely not lux. There are no private changing rooms. I change in the stall of the shower that is broken. Also, the ladies locker room could be cleaner at times(it is dirtier at night). The pool seems small and, even at 9:40 at night, there have been people in there who seem more interested in talking than swimming laps, even though the sign says the pool is for fitness purposes only. I was hoping I would have it to myself that time of night. Also, when I have been there late at night, they have hard rock music blasting. Not what I want to wind down to. I was not impressed by the yoga class as yoga, though it was a good work-out, and the«coached» 30-minute circuit isn’t really that coached. You don’t get too much individual attention at all. Still, it is value for the money and I get a good work-out there. Darn. I forgot to mention the free fitness evaluation. It was so cool and they give you a printout and everything!
