I’ll get this out of the way. I have a very green thumb. Whatever I touch grows. That’s the truth. Plants love me and I love them. I haven’t even had the NEED to go to a nursery for anything major for a couple of years now because my plants all keep coming back to me every year no matter how«dead» they get. So there’s that. You have to remember that in this review because I’m going to be talking about this place from that perspective. I’m not what you would call a «gardener». I just like to grow things. I know what I like to grow, too. And Garden Spot is a good place to get those plants that I like to grow. They also have a nice array of garden décor, although some of that can be a bit pricey. Garden Spot isn’t like the smaller nurseries because they’re more like a super center for your gardening needs. They have just about anything you could require for landscaping your lawn from huge pots and massive windchimes to pond pumps and stepping stones. Stuff like that. The #1 reason I like Garden Spot so much is that they sell quite a few species of plants that you don’t really find anywhere else. Like Nepenthe genus carnivorous plants. You don’t even know what that is, huh? Lol. They’re like hanging pitcher plants kind of. They have a whole outdoor greenhouse where they keep most of their herbs and tropicals. All the plants at Garden Spot are very well taken care of and full and bright; not like what you would find at Home Depot or Walmart where their poor plants are withered and shriveled and undernourished. Yes, it can be a bit of a challenge sometimes to get help from an employee, but there are usually quite a few customers there and they all want something. So it’s best if you know a thing or two about planting because you might not be able to ask for a lecture on botany when you’re shopping there. Overall though, Garden Spot is a really good name for this place because that’s exactly what it is. THE spot for all your gardening needs. The only thing they don’t sell is live fish for your garden pond!

A few years ago I decided that I was a gardener. I thought to myself, «hey…I want to plant a rose garden.» So I set out to do just that. I went to lots of nurseries around the area and the Garden Spot had the best selection of rose bushes. They also had the best selection of other plants here as well as wind chimes and flags for your garden. I bought a few rose bushes and brought them home to plant my dream rose garden. Within a few weeks they all had black spot disease. Once rose bushes have black spot it’s pretty difficult to get rid of. Once again, I headed to the Garden Spot to get some black spot disease treatment. While I was there I decided to get a few more rose bushes that were known for their resistance to black spot. I returned home to plant my new bushes and spray the others with the treatment. Within a few weeks I realized that I actually am not a gardener and have a black thumb. I also hate digging in dirt and earthworms and all of the creepy crawly things that you inevitably encounter while trying to fool yourself that you are the best gardener ever. For all of you aspiring gardeners out there, the Garden Spot is the place to go. The prices are a little steep and it’s sometimes hard to find an employee if you need help, but the selection can’t be beat.
