Just moved here from Southern California(San Diego) after trying Mexican food there I wasn’t satisfied with just any Mexican food. After trying several places even in New Orleans this is by far the closest to the Mexican food I so love in San Diego. Service is great, location is cute. The food was delicious and filling. I would definitely recommend this place

I ordered my food to go from here, so I’ll only review my entrée. With that being said, the tacos were simply phenomenal. Very authentic, and made with some of the freshest ingredients I have ever tasted from a taco joint. Not to mention, the meat was seasoned and prepared perfectly. The staff was rude when I made my order over the phone, but when I arrived; they were polite and and were very accommodating. The inside was clean and had traditional«Mexican sports bar» décor and feel. The kind of place I would visit for a football game or any other sporting event, but the tacos would be the one thing to keep me coming back. Great experience and I will be stopping by again during my next trip to South Louisiana.

Tacos and Beer is a local restaurant/bar in the heart of old downtown Slidell. I visited this restaurant on a Sunday Afternoon for lunch. The location is great, a few bars and restaurants nearby and the Old Slidell Soda shop across the street. The area has a local charm to it. If you are passing through or live in the area, this place is definitely an option when looking for some grub while enjoying the downtown scenery. They serve traditional Mexican dishes, that taste great. I order the Chimi-Chingon, and I would have to say it lives up to it’s name. My wife order the fish tacos which were equally delicious. The complimentary chips and salsa were great, the salsa had some heat. My kids ordered the cheese quesadilla which included a side of refried beans and Spanish rice. All that stuff was delicious too. The only thing I wish this place had would be some horchata. The staff was very friendly and provided excellent service. The seating outside is great for nice day, they even have a pull down shade on the very sunny days. I haven’t experienced this location during the night hours but I imagine it’s pretty cool especially when they have live music in the house. I’m definitely going to revisit this establishment for 2 reasons, get some beer and try their ceviche.

Had been a while since I had stopped in and wanted a taste of Olde Towne Slidell for lunch. Had the enchiladas this time and wasn’t disappointed. The portion was more than expected. The waitress was very nice and kept a smile on her face and my glass full. I won’t wait so long for my next visit.

This place is meh. The chips and salsa are pretty good and I got my first fish tacos ever at this place and they were alright, but I swear, the best hing on the menu are their fries. That’s it. I go to Tacos and Beer for Fries and Beer. Their beers are large, though, and are fairly cheap. I used to get a burrito whenever we were out partying in the Dell, but not anymore, man. I’m ALWAYS disappointed when I get their Big Ass burrito. Yeah, ti’s big in size, but not on taste. They should call it Big Ass BLAND burrito. Their house hot sauce sucks as well. It’s just too damn hot and lacks any sort of flavoring. That’s my big gripe with this place. Where’s the flavor!!! My friends all like it though. I honestly don’t know why. To each his own, I guess. I don’t eat here. I get a beer here every now and then while my friends eat. I’d rather pick up something on the way home, and if I absolutely HAVE to eat something, I get their fries. That’s the best thing on their menu. Seriously, their fries, ROCK and account for an entire star in this review. The other star is for their beer and their $ 1 fee ATM. At the bar, their service is usually pretty friendly and fast, but not if that dick of a manager is working. They have one guy who is just UNPLEASANT. Period. Why is he even still employed there? He must be the proprietor or something because I can think of no other reason why such an unpleasant person would still be working in the customer service industry.

I know tacos and on the Gulf Coast, these are the best tacos I have found. We had the Mako shark taco(**** stars) a blackened strip of succulent shark with cabbage, pico and a chipotle sauce. Next was the lengua taco(***** stars) so moist and tender, it was almost a sin to put any salsa and lemon on it, but thats how I do. The chips and salsa are much more original than I am used to and the service was excellent. My biggest complaint is that I am 45 minutes from this place and cant get it in on my regular lunch rotation.

By far one of my favorites! My boyfriend and I always go here and got to know all the employees and owners who are amazing! The atmosphere… 5 stars hands down. They always have great music, lots of people and amazing food! We always get the steak nachos and it’s enough to fill us both just sharing it! Also taco Tuesday is where it’s at! I always pay a little more and get the flour tortilla and add cheese and sour cream but the original is amazing too! Honestly, on a week night or the weekend… It’s a go to! Trust me! We love it

I always have a great time here. Whether I come and eat alone at the bar, and chat with the servers, or come sitting with a group, I always have great service, and delicious food. Portions are perfect, and authentic flavors are on point! :) Taco Tuesday is a plus! Try a big a## burrito and the chimichanga. So yummy!

Most authentic Mexican food that I have ever had in Louisiana! The Barbacoa is my absolute favorite thing! On a regular taco or on the Big A$$ Burrito! It’s always amazing! Their chips and salsa are great as well and I always have to order some White Cheese Queso Dip with it! Best Queso everrr! Love this place!

I’m from Texas where the norm is authentic Mexican food all over the place, as opposed to Slidell where the norm is seafood of course. So it is nice to have a place nearby to remind me of home. Love the chips and salsa. Nicely done with fresh chips. The first time I ordered mini tacos(I don’t know if that is what they are called on the menu) and they were pretty good, nice little snack as it is a small portion. I also split some of the carne asade chimichanga my boyfriend got which we both thought was fantastic. Definitely big enough to split with two people in addition to the chips and salsa. So the next time we came we ordered it again and again it was great. The second time we decided to order nachos as well as an appetizer and they were no bueno. The cheese was cold and hard as if they had sat for a while or were cooked on for too long. The chips were also too chewy also a sign of either sitting or being cooked too long because the chips with the chips and salsa were perfectly fine. We didn’t eat them and the management took them off the bill so that was nice. Service both times were great. Cute little ladies and a man who seemed pretty cool. Owner maybe? Nice place to hang out when the weather is nice. They have outside patio tables. Even if the weather isn’t nice, the inside area has a fun hangout atmosphere as well.

Food here is fantastic! Everything tastes fresh! I love the homemade tortilla chips with cheese dip here. Even the salsa is made fresh. I always get the«big a$$ burrito» for my entrée :) Other delicious items include the totra and the fish tacos, but I primarily get the burrito.

Ok I do not know what all the hype is about with this place. I had been hearing so much about it and honestly never got around to trying it. So I decided to go on taco Tuesday… Big mistake. Firstly, the service was awful. Second, the meat on all the different tacos we tried was just not good. And the carne asada tasted like the meat was old. Third, the margaritas– I really think Margs from a grocery mix would taste better. :(disappointed. Sorry tacos n beer but I don’t think I will be back.

Not what you expect looking from the outside… Located in old town Slidell this place is definitely a good find! Very friendly and attentive staff! Prices are great! Food is very tasteful and seasoned very well! Not your typical tex mex spot, they serve some authentic Mexican style tacos! I ordered an array of tacos to try them out and was not disappointed one bit! I cleaned that plate and was extremely satisfied after! I had the al pastor, chicken, shredded beef, and shrimp tacos and they were all delicious! I found out that on Tuesdays they have $ 1 tacos so I will probably be there every week for that great deal!!!

I ordered takeout Baja Tacos and a side of chips and salsa. The food looked great. There were no napkins or plastic ware in the bag; however, they give you a side salad with it. The tacos were fresh but didn’t have enough flavor to me. I’m originally from Southern California so I’ve had my share of Mexican food. The chips and salsa were great. Chips fried hard and salsa has a kick. I ended up pouring some of the salsa on the tacos. Maybe I’ll try a burrito next time. The staff was friendly.

Ehh… I was less than impressed with Tacos and Beer. Located in Slidell’s Olde Town neighborhood is about the only thing about it that is charming, it’s location. The service was slow and a little snooty. There was no one else in the restaurant on the two occasions that I visited, so the slow service was perplexing. It took and really long time to get my drinks and even longer for the food to arrive. The chips and salsa were ok, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the fish tacos(grilled) and while they were ok, again, nothing exciting. I had to add a ton of hot sauce to them to give them any flavor at all really. They do have drink specials and $ 1 tacos on Tuesday nights. I don’t think I would go for that even though it’s a pretty good deal, if that gives you any idea on how meh this place is.
