Hartford Jaycees Haunted House

My 3^rd year in a row coming to the JHH and I have to now admit it is just not as good as it used to be. This year seemed to have taken a downhill turn, perhaps less staff volunteers. The haunted woods is not very haunted and they could do away with the theatrical performances inside that just hold things up trying to make it seem like you are in the «haunt» longer than you are. I do admit, I give the actors credit for rehearsing and memorizing their skits but it get’s awkward when you have to stand in a room because the group in front of you is held up and you stand there for a good couple of minutes doing nothing in a room.
Reading my review from last year, not much has changed in the sense of anti climatic ending and all they do is scream in your ear as you go down the dark halls.
Not sure I will go back next year. There are too many other better ones out there.

This haunt has been pretty consistent over the past few years but maybe slipped a bit in 2011. Still worth a visit, especially if you plan to hit up Terror on Rural Street as they are just a few miles apart.
Good:
*Its actually a house, not just a repurposed building, so that does add some creepy factor, but be prepared for some fairly steep stairs
*Actors here tend to be more theatrical and interactive, especially in the first half. Some are very funny.
*Reasonable wait and good waiting system (ticket numbers). Nice waiting area with horror movies to get you in the mood.
* Very detailed sets and costumes fir the most part.
Bad:
*In the past, one of the bet parts of this haunt was the creepy trail up to the house. This year, few if any actors or scares in that part. LAME.
*Inside it was really hot and stuffy, perhaps because it was a fairly warm night. Still FYI to the ghosts — deodorant is for the undead too
*Seemed to peter out about halfway through with fewer actors and more random screaming teens.
Depends on Your Perspective:
*No visible security. In theory, if you had brought a cooler of beer it would have been no problem to sit in your friends minivan and have a few whilst waiting for your number. Not that we did that.
