When I first tried to eat here I was to late and the food truck was shutting down for the night. So when I saw that they were participating in the 2016 Smithfield restaurant week I knew it was my second chance. I ordered the Granny Sampler as the appetizer with the Shrimp and Grits as the entrée. The dessert option I was hoping for was sold out so I was forced to go with the brownie. This 3 course meal came out to be just over $ 25 after tax and tip. I immediately went into buyers remorse, but once I took a bite of the pimento cheese that was part of the Granny sampler there was no more remorse. Everything on that sampler was delicious. Moving on to the shrimp and grits they were the best I have ever had! They brownie was the only thing I found to be disappointing, a complete let down. But keep in mind it’s not what I wanted anyway. I wouldn’t have ordered it if given the option. Staff was very friendly and I could tell by watching them prepare my food that they took real pride in what they were doing. Which in the food business you rarely see these days. I have never seen such food presentation from a food truck. Truly out doing any food truck I’ve been to. Can wait to track this truck down and try other menu options. I am coming for you Thelma’s million dollar pie!

Granny’s Kitchen is a must-try! Best lunch we’ve had in Smithfield by far. There is no better way to enjoy a good meal than by trying delicious and creative food right out of a truck. You are also greeted by great customer service by folks who obviously have a passion for food. Follow this truck around — you won’t be sorry!
