I have lived by this Siena for 2 years and this is the first time I have had a chance to stop in and I must say I can’t wait to go back. First, I have to start off with how great our service was. She was attentive, but not too hovery. she knew exactly what we needed. didn’t have to ask for a thing. Our meals were timed perfectly, as well as the drinks. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I had the filet special, the meat was on point, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Siena in Smithfield is a special place I would love to keep coming back!

Finally had an excuse to splurge when a friend came back from a 2-year Peace Corps stint in Kyrgyzstan. Service was paced on the slower side, which allowed us to shoot the breeze and enjoy ourselves. Portions were also paced for enjoyment — the cheese board was delicious, but modestly sized, as was my phenomenal pumpkin ravioli in butter sauce, topped with crispy prosciutto. The risotto was so-so, but since I ordered it as an afterthought, it didn’t bother me. Ended the evening perfectly with some cleansing raspberry sorbet. Sampled my friend’s tiramisu, ultra dense and moist, a little heavy. Under 100 for appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 2 beers and an 8 and a half dollar glass of wine. Considering the quality of food, I would call it a good value. Bustling on a Tuesday night, but not too loud. Interesting atmosphere, with a giant horse statue and horse racing murals against a mix of soul-funk and pop-alternative, but I could still describe it as nice. Come here for a nice meal, a complete meal. Good for date night, or with a small group of close friends. I will revisit.

I recently moved to Smithfield RI and asked around for the best Italian restaurant. Siena’s name came up often. I have dined here several times in the past four months– the food is fantastic, the décor/ambience superb, and the prices are very fair. But what sets it apart is the fantastic service by everyone, especially Jamie, Danielle, and Liz. Thanks guys! Marty

We came here once before and enjoyed a bottle of wine and the Vodka Pizza which was excellent. Back then, I might have given a 3 – 4 star review for food and great service from the bartender. Unfortunately, when we brought friends back to share in «our find», things just weren’t the same. We sat in the bar area and service started out quick and friendly but slowly faded out towards the end of the dinner and we couldn’t find our waitress for anything. We started out with the Arezzo Tasting Board to share between the 4 of us. When they brought it out I was floored — there was barely enough for 1 person. There was plenty of Salsiccia Secca Piccante(a pepperoni type meat) but only a tiny slab of Gorgonzola Piccante, 2 slices of toast, LESS than 1 Tablespoon of preserves, a few olives and 5 – 6 candied nuts… really?!? We asked for 2 more slices of toast which our waitress brought over without question, but really!!! It was a $ 13.00 platter with about a $ 3.00 value. Then my boyfriend and I split a salad and our friends split a salad. It looked like they split 1 salad into 4 servings. It was so small I ate it in 6 bites. Thank goodness the Vodka Pizza was as good as the last time we were here! Overall, not a big fan. Portions were extremely small, prices were very high and drinks were VERY, VERY weak. All that being said we will just stay home next time!

Great Meal I live right down the street from this location and it’s the first time I visited. I will have to say we had a great experience. The décor is very warm and welcoming giving patrons a high end feeling without the suffocating prices and pretentiousness. Our Order: App: A make your own meat and cheese board, great fresh meats and artisan cheeses. A Entrees: Beef Bolognese, fresh pasta and hearty Bolognese sauce, great dish on a cold night. A Short Rib, tender, well seasoned, delicious. A Drinks: My wife and I had a couple of specialty cocktails, a glass of wine, and a couple of beers. The cocktails were made well and the wine and beer selection is nice. B Value: For a very nice restaurant, with high quality food and drinks, I have to say it’s a great value. Our total bill for the above order was about 100 bucks, half of what it costs to go downtown to a fine dining restaurant. And this is pretty close to a fine dining restaurant. A We really enjoyed it, I think you will too. Thanks

This was my second visit to Siena in Smithfield. I am a huge fan of the East Greenwich location but find its a bit too noisy and the tables are too close together, I do like a bit of privacy. I chose the boneless short rib with risotto and green beans. The meat was tender, flavorful, and just plain delicious. Our server recommended the wine of the day which did not disappoint, a perfect pairing with my short rib. As an indulgence we had dessert, a chocolate mousse cake that was fresh and not straight out of the freezer. The whole dining experience was perfect from start to finish. Siena of Smithfield is definitely one of my favorite RI restaurants. Congrats to the staff, management, and chef!

My wife and I went here a couple times last summer and it was great so tonight we decided to order take out. I wish we ordered from somewhere else, anywhere else! We ordered their goat cheese and mushroom pizza with no cheese except for goat cheese, because of my dairy allergy and of course they put mozzarella on it. Their menu lists what is on the pizza, except they don’t mention that they also put a base layer of mozzarella on the pizza, but hey I’m a mind reader so I was supposed to know that –completely my fault. We also ordered their version of chicken parm which had some fancy ass Italian name, which was like a piece of greasy leather, it came with literally less than a tablespoon of marinara sauce(see pictures). The third dish we ordered was chicken with butternut squash risotto, the chicken that came with it was OK, not good but just OK, the risotto wasn’t even enough to feed my 5 year old and was very watery(see pictures) and smelled very weird. The bread they gave us with the meal was so hard on the outside that when I tried to dip it in the sauce I had to heat up from a jar,(which was better than the tablespoon of marinara they gave us) it crunched like a croûton. Needless to say we won’t be going back. I wish we went to a real Italian place instead this crap. I’ve seriously had better Italian food from supermarket take-out. It was really awesome that they remade the pizza for us so that we could bring our 5 year old that has a cold back out into the 20 degree weather and 30mph wind, to go back and re-pick up the order they messed up. When we got the second pizza, it wasn’t even cooked(see pics). We threw out the whole order of food. I ate literally one bite of each dish and decided to heat up some frozen left over quiche from Christmas, which was 10x better than anything that came from sienna. They should make the idiot who took the order deliver the order they messed up instead of making their customers lives harder. My wife told me not to make the review a total bash-fest because they remade the pizza, but after she returned with their crappy remade version, she gave me the green light to go on Unilocal and post pics. Do yourself a favor and check out a real Italian place in the area like café vino, pats, or sorrento. This place reminds me of eating Italian food in a place like Florida, fancy Italian names to match the high prices of bad food.

What a shame! This used to be my absolute favorite restaurant. I crave their gluten free penne a la vodka with grilled shrimp. Crave it! We called and made a reservation for 9:30 on a Friday. We arrived at 9:23, we were told that they would seat us when it was closer to 9:30. I checked the time because I was confused by that comment. For the next ten minutes we watched the two hostesses and two waiters talk(they did walk back and forth) with their backs to the restaurant. We arrived to our table at 9:33. Our waitress(I have no idea what her name is because she never introduced herself) came by and asked what we would like to drink. We asked for a moment to look over the menu. We discussed about getting a bottle of the wine special or stick to our usual Malbec. Then we waited. And waited. Our two glasses of wine arrived close to 10 pm. We looked at the menu and saw that it was restaurant week AND my penne was on the menu. Amazing! We ordered our food and waited. And waited. Our Caesar salad and mussels finally came and did not disappoint. Then we waited again. And waited. Our waitress came by to tell me that the kitchen made a mistake and made regular pasta instead of gluten free so it would be a few minutes and laughed. My fiancée was now concerned… Another server came by and dropped off our entrees. We asked for water since we had not seen anyone in some time and had empty glasses. I asked for Parmesan cheese, which was surprising since black pepper and cheese is always offered. The food was AMAZING. So I was happy once again. We discussed getting two more glasses of wine before our waitress reappeared and cleared our glasses. She didn’t ask us if we wanted another drink. We decided we would go to the bar and get wine after dinner since we officially felt unwelcomed. We ordered our vanilla gelato which were absolutely gorgeous and even more delicious. A few bites into my gelato, our server dropped our check and walked away. No words. Just the thud of the check. So we decided we wouldn’t get our usually coffee… Several spoonfuls later our server returned and picked up the bill. We told her we hadn’t looked at it yet. Feeling rushed, my fiancée paid the bill. Meanwhile she returned several times to look at us. I am still eating my gelato at this point. Then she comes back and collects the bill while I am still eating my gelato. We decide that maybe we shouldn’t go to the bar after all. We get up and leave(it’s now about 11:30) and I decide to ask for the manager. I explain what happened and she apologizes. After telling her how mortified and embarrassed we were, she offers to give us a gift card. I am reluctant because I was really annoyed. But I agree since I think she must want us to sincerely come back and I was empathetic. She apologizes and hands us a gift card. When we get home, I look at the amount and chuckled. Insulting. I will be returning that gift card to the owner. And will find a new favorite restaurant.

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Rhode Island. I have never had a bad meal here. The biggest highlight is the risotto. Its soo delish. We always order a large side of it to split with our table. There are always delicious specials. I love the Mango on Atwells martini and the different seasonal sangrias are also very good. Their bolognese pasta dish is my most frequently ordered dish. Service is super friendly. If you are not too full from dinner, they also have excellent deserts to choose from.

Great Italian cuisine but be prepared to make reservations 1 – 2 weeks out for a Saturday night. We visit about 3 or 4 times a year and it’s always packed. Even with reservations I’d expect to wait an additional 30 minutes. This place is smaller than you’d expect and very popular. The experience is what makes this place so busy as well. There’s a great lounge area but you can’t get any service as they’re usually understaffed to handle the weekend traffic. Besides you can’t even get into the bar area as it’s so packed with people trying to eat at the bar and the small tables in this area. When did having a luxurious meal sitting on bar stools become such a status symbol? Get a table and sit and enjoy yourselves with conversation where you can hear people. Have a drink at the bar, have a meal at the table. The menu is somewhat limited but not one bad meal can be had. Simpler can sometimes be better. I always recommend the Parmesan risotto as it’s outstanding and a must have any time I’ve eaten here. I also have never had the same thing twice here and not disappointed with anything I’ve had in the 7⁄8 times we’ve been here. Like I said, it’s not a huge place but the quality and the experience are what it’s all about here.

I was not impressed with this restaurant at all. The food was pricey, portions were small, everything was a la cart. The food wasn’t anything to write home about. After paying a large bill, I still left hungry. I won’t be back.

Easily our favorite restaurant in RI. It’s difficult not to linger after a superb meal and continue to enjoy glasses of the different fine wines available. The last three times we were there our party of four stayed about three hours! Not inexpensive, but a bargain when you factor in attentive friendly service, consistently excellent food and great ambience. The Smithfield locale is our favorite of the three because of its proximity and it is more spacious, but we’ve never been disappointed at any. I rate it 10⁄10& very highly recommended!

This place has some great potential, so I’ll probably be back. We went on a Sunday afternoon and sat in the lounge area. The wait was over an hour in the dining room — oops! Didn’t realize a reservation would be needed. Still, the lounge area is beautiful with a wine call and very comfy seating. We ordered the special appetizer — an arancini with braised beef, demi, and shaved parm. It was super delicious and filling. The bread basket(one of the most important parts) was a nice variety of bread, although it would’ve been nice if it were warm. My husband ordered the gnocchi and I got the bolognese. He liked his dish, with a creamy read sauce, but mentioned it wasn’t earth-shattering(and the price seemed a bit high for what was being ordered). Mine just fell flat. The meat was generous and tasty; a nice combo of beef, pork, and veal — very flavorful. However, there was a real lack of sauce. It tasted like meat, pasta, and a boat load of butter. Don’t get me wrong, I love butter, but I was hoping for something just a little more saucy. They don’t put cream in their version of this dish, which is disappointing, but still ok if it weren’t just a pool of butter at the bottom. The service was very friendly — but the waitress did deliver our dishes and then didn’t come back for a while, so I didn’t really get a chance to mention not liking my dish or to order anything else, as my husband was already finished with his meal. Again, lots of great points, and I’ll try it again some day, but probably soon.

I wanted to really like this place. Nice location, clean and new looking, friendly staff — everyone smiling and service efficient. but, the food was«meh». The shrimp appetizer had overcook beans(mush) and over cooked shrimp(rubber), the halibut was overcooked and the lemon sauce was a dried out lemon half-slice, with pits still in it, slice of lemon. The place was packed and I see a lot of 5 stars… not for me this time.

Wow, my favorite location of the three! Spacious restaurant & great staff. The reservation was on time. Great white sangria, awesome special menu too! The dessert was phenomenal. Banana cheesecake w a gram cracker crust. Wasn’t too bananaish but was super rich/fluffy. Dinners were the Bolognese(has steak in it!) and the pink vodka. Both dishes were perfect & came out super fast. I’ll post a pic of my awesome dish. I also love when making a reservation they have you saved in the system. Makes it feel like you are a regular & are valued.

Wow! My wife and I dined here and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From being seated by a gracious host to the superb service by Matthew our waiter to the delicious food, we can’t say enough about this gem of a place. Great job to he whole staff. We live near Boston with plenty of great options for dining and I will definitely make trip back here!

Just ok. Probably the fanciest gig in Smithfield; the land of fast food & chain restaurants, but it wasn’t impressive. Overpriced and you don’t get enough food for what they charge. There are better Italian restaurants a stone’s throw away in Johnston.

I have been to this location of Siena multiple times and each time I hope that they will redeem themselves. However, this last visit really blew my mind. My boyfriend and I stopped in for a drink on the way home after having a wonderful night out on federal hill for dinner. We arrived around 10:20 and told the hostess we wished to just have a few drinks and sit at a table near the bar. We sat for about 5 minutes until water was brought to us and the restaurant was not busy at all. Then, a older woman tripped on her way out of the restaurant and banged her head. She was very disoriented and everyone seemed to be in a panic, yet not once did a manager go over to speak with her. A few men rushed to her to yank her up off the ground, which was not the correct thing to do because she had fallen hard and could’ve been hurt. I was baffled on how the situation was handled and 911 probably should’ve been called but people looked at me like I was crazy when I said that. After this incident happened I watched the server that was serving tables near us go over to the bar to tell his story to the bartender about escorting the woman to her car which was completely unprofessional. Part of me wanted to get up and leave but I was hoping that somehow Siena would redeem themselves because the food and drinks are always delicious. The busboy that had brought us water went to clean the table next to us at 10:40 and I finally asked him if we could have a server. After a few minutes the general manager came over introduced himself, apologized and proceeded to offer us some drink specials… He told us they had a «jammy» red wine on special tonight and a winter sangria that was«crisp, cool, and full of rosemary and stuff». I was not impressed but settled on the winter sangria because I was curious. The bartender brought us our drinks over and«sincerely» apologized and said she would attend to us and keep an eye on us for the rest of the evening. Well that was a lie. We finished our drinks and sat for another 10 minutes with empty drinks in front of us. I finally went up to the podium where the general manager was standing and asked if we could have our check. Then he saw my boyfriend was standing at the bar with his card out waiting for the bartender to get off of her phone and stop leaning against the bar talking to her friend so he told us that the drinks were on him. It was very nice of him to do this for us. However, I am still baffled by the whole experience and extremely disappointed.

Manager/co-owner Chris emailed me right after he saw my poor review and wanted to follow up what was going on during the last dinner. Well, i repeated the whole story to him. I’m not trying to use the one star to draw attention here but I was just being honest to the truth. He apologized sincerely and asked for another chance with offering a gift card. Challenge accepted! However, I was chicken out to go to the same restaurant so i ended up went to the Siena on Federal Hills. What took me so long to go there!!! I ordered a seafood pasta and it was the best i have ever tried! Excellent favor & high quality seafood & generous portion! Glad i went back! So to my humble opinion, go to the Siena on the hills not Smithfield? lol … just kidding! Good job Chris!
