The Home Depot

I went in today to buy some house plants, I do not have a green thumb and needed some help on which plants would be the best for a plant killer like myself. Jen (who I later found out is a store manager) came to my rescue. She pointed out all the plants that would be hard for me to kill and all the ones to avoid until I mastered the easy ones. When it came time to picking out pots my head was spinning, what size? Drain? No drain? Which soil? Well Jen came back helped me pick out pots, then decided to just repot them for me on the spot in the store! Teaching me what to do myself so next time I’m ready to repot some plants I’ll know what to do! She then pushed my carriage to the check out (I had my son in a stroller) and then walked my carriage all the way to my suv and loaded the plants in!!! I have never experienced such great customer service at Home Depot or anywhere else for that matter, she is a great employee and person because she def went above and beyond the scope of her job duties I’m sure!!! With so many Home Depots around it’s easy to go to any of them, but after my trip to the Smithfield one today I will only be stopping by this one and asking for Jen :)

Tried to buy Jeld Wen doors for my front entry. Its been over 2 months since I told them what I wanted, I will probably be spending over 10K for these doors. They took my name and number, and sent out an installer to measure so they could give me a quote. The installer came out to measure more than a month ago. When I called to find out what is going on with my quote. They said the installer who measured was still working on his measurements because I wanted something different. That was BS. I want a double set of Front entry doors. What is the problem??? I finally called a local lumber yard who also sells JeldWen and they will get the sale. Thanks for nothing Home Depot. I am now in the process of purchasing thousands of sq ft of tile for a large project I am working on. I will take my business to Lowes! They have awesome customer service!

Beware. We had cabinets on hold, and when we found out that the labor was going to cost more than the cabinets, we went in to cancel the order only to be told that they had released the order which would cost us a 15% restocking fee for cabinets we did not authorize and cannot use.

Horrible customer service. We were quoted an install price for backsplash in store (we brought the exact measurements with us to be sure of cost). My husband took the morning off of work for someone to come measure the kitchen as this is standard protocol. We received a phone call 2 days later stating the install was now going to be $ 1500…the measurements never changed ! Absolutely ridiculous and misleading. Total waste of time. We called the store and spoke to a manager and he rudely only offered to refund a $ 35 measuring fee. We will never buy anything here again and we will take our business to Lowes.

Necessary Evil
This is my local box store for home improvement. I feel like I should be paying rent for the amount time I spend here.
Now, it’s a Home Depot so your getting your usual middle of road quality products. Tiles with a bunch of broken ones in the box, rebranded mowers, outdoor furniture missing parts to assemble. You know, typical Home Depot.
What can I say, to be honest, I like Lowe’s better. Sadly, I will probably be back there tomorrow. It’s always something as a homeowner.

Being a home owner this place is like my second home. I’m always in here and always have a good experience. The lot is huge and easy to get a parking spot. Nine times out of ten there’s someone at the door greeting people and someone always says hello and offers assistance before being asked. I get paint a lot and the young lady who is usually there is very friendly and my
Paint is done quickly. It’s fairly easy to find things in there and if not someone will
Help you find it. Pricewise they seem to be comparable to other places such a lowes. I’ve lost my cell phone there before and they were so great helping me find it. The clerk retraced my steps with me and kept calling it for me. That’s above and beyond the call of duty. It’s always clean in there and clutter free which makes it easy to shop. Also they have self checkout which I love. Working in retail I deal with people all day so it’s nice to just check out on my own and not have to talk to anyone. I haven’t used it since my
Dad is a builder but they also can connect you with contractors and whatnot if you need some work done. I like this location and will continue to shop there for my
House needs.

They may be adequate on showing you which aisle to walk down, but I went there today for some cabinets. It was clear I need them custom made so I went to the man in that dept. The guy didn’t even get up from his desk or show me samples. He told me the price depends on many variables so he wouldn’t give me one even though I knew what I wanted. So rude!!! He went back to his video game when I was walked away. This is what you get when you go to Home Depot I guess.

A year ago I had one of the employees spend at least 20 minutes convincing me to buy a Ridgid drill/​driver instead of the DeWalt drill I had in hand. The reason he said was that «in practice» their lifetime service plan typically meant they would just swap out a defective unit. My Ridgid drill died in the middle of a big bathroom project (tons of $$ spent at this HD). Went there today. Needless to say, the only warranty” the would give was to send it out for repair. When I asked how I could complete my project, «Mike» in tools suggested I buy a new drill and then return it when done. Not an option for me as it’s not my style. They are correct on the letter of the warranty (I reread it), but their implied «latitude» doesn’t exist or «Mike» didn’t want to exercise it for me. I normally like this HD… today I am just a dissatisfied customer. because of the way it was handled. No more Ridgid for me either … My last DeWalt lasted 15 yrs (before I got tired of the buying NiCad batteries)… not the 1 yr this Ridgid did…

Good Home Depot with a good selection. Staff and always helpful and abundant.
